CANADIAN MEDIA SHOCKS SANJAY

Sanjay Dutt is upset on reports, which appeared in Toronto linking him to terrorist activities in India. The Bollywood hero has vowed never to return to the North American country. Incidentally, this has happened when he is filming his latest film 'Dus' in the western Canadian city of Calgary. The media in Toronto reported that he had real-life links to terrorism in connection with the Mumbai serial bomb blasts. The actor, who had spent 18 months in jail for allegedly possessing an automatic weapon, said he and his family have been hurt and upset by the reports.

He vowed,"I never will come back to Canada ever in my life," Dutt was quoted as saying by the CBS television. He said he and his family have been fighting the allegations for years. Interestingly, members of the Indian community came out in support of Dutt but he told them he had enough of it. He was shocked at how he is being portrayed in the media, and said," I have not been proven a terrorist." He wondered that it happened in Canada that he considered to be a free country, where people were innocent until proven guilty. This is to recall that Dutt has not been convicted in the case and was released on bail.

Kareena blasts myth

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor not only make a good reel pair, but they may turn into a real one in life. This seems to be confirmed as both of them have a deeper understanding among themselves than the usual one. Kareena Kapoor blasted all rumors about her smooch with Fardeen her colleague in the forthcoming 'Fida'. She was amused more than being angry. She quipped, " This is a rumor she never came across though she faced many in the past." She wondered how this baseless report saw the light of the day. In fact, there is no kissing scene between her and Fardeen in the movie. Secondly, she boldly said that it mattered little even if this was true. She knew Shahid very well and could say with all authority that he would not bother about it at all. This is indeed the sign of a true understanding between a pair in real life.

Kim Sharma back with releases

Kim Sharma is back in news now because of her films. Earlier, she made news due to her friendship with cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Several of her films are ready for release, though her role is different in each of them. She is acting in romantic thriller 'Fida' too with Kareena Kapoor. Besides, she is in Mahesh Manjrekar--directed 'Laloo Prasad Yadav' starring Suniel Shetty in the role of a gangster, and in Sanjay Dutt's comedy 'Nahle Pe Dahla' where she plays a comedian role, in Akbar Khan's 'Tajmahal' acting as Noorjehan and in Tanuja Chandra's 'Yakeen'. With all these films either ready for release or nearing completion, indicate that she is moving towards stardom these days.

Isha Koppikar's folly

Isha Koppikar was very excited after Ram Gopal Verma gave him the role of the Khallas girl. This made her so popular that Karan Razdan offered her the role of a manly character in his 'Girlfriend' along with Amrita Arora. Her role created a controversy soon after it was screened. She feels that her character of lesbian Tanya is responsible for the movie's popularity among the inquisitive audience. Consequently, she is reported to have received about half a dozen such bold offers from the producers. She thinks that she is reaching the pinnacle of her career. However, she doesn't know that this would never get him reach the position of a good artiste.

Tabu to act in 'Bhagmati'

Charming girl of the 'Machish' and 'Chandani Bar' fame Tabu will be back on the screen in 'Bhagmati - The Queen of Fortunes'. She will play a young visitor to historical places, which remind her of the legendry Qutb Shah period. According to the industry, this will be a big budget movie starring Millind Soman, Hema Malini besides many others. Ashok Kaul will direct the movie.

Vivek's 'Baraat' soon

The 'Company's pride hero Vivek Oberoi has not signed yet many movies after it. He shot to fame in Bollywood because of his good selection of scripts as well as his intimate relations with world's number one beauty Aishwarya Rai. He says that he has signed more movies; he has signed one with Inder Kumar of the 'Masti' fame, His new movies include Sachin Bajaj's 'Baraat'. Moreover, he adds he would like to work with new directors to have the thrill of working with them. He referred to Shaad Ali of 'Saathiya' and Sameer Karnik of 'Kyun! Ho Gaya Naa?' in this regard. He was very empathic in denying any chance of his father directing a movie with him.

Aftab, Esha in Vikram Bhatt抯 `Aakhir`

It抯 got to be the biggest musical shuffle of the season. Vikram Bhatt had announced a new project called Aakhir apparently based on a very tumultuous phase of his own life, to be produced by Shraddha Pagare of Celeste Moi.

Anil Kapoor in 'Musafir'

Bollywood's one time top star Anil Kapoor visited New Delhi recently in connection with his role in Sanjay Gupta's 'Musafir' starring Sanjay Dutt and Sameera Reddy beside himself. Anil plays Lucky in this movie, who is the son of a straightforward painter, but indulges in unlawful activities because of unfortunate circumstances. Anil is fully aware that he cannot do roles like those of Vivek Obroi or Hrithik Roshan, as he has crossed that age. That's why he has incorporated a special attitude to his character in 'Musafir'. As reported earlier, Anil would be seen in Ram Gopal Verma's two movies which would be simultaneously screened on the same theme but with opposite angles. The movies have been titled ' Galti Se Murder' and 'Jaan Bujhke Murder'. The theme is the same-- Murder -though in one film it's done by mistake and in another intentionally. What an exceptional idea!

Roshan to sign Amrita Rao opposite Hrithik

Rakesh Roshan has decided to sign Amrita Rao opposite his son Hrithik Roshan in his next movie. This is the result of the fame Amrita Rao earned through her performance in 'Ishq-Vishq', 'Masti' and 'Main Hoon Naa'. Roshan has yet to finalize the details of his forthcoming venture.

AISH CREATES CHAOS IN HOLLYWOOD

Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai is all set to make her debut in Hollywood with her signing opposite Meryl Streep in 'Chaos', shooting for which will start later this year. In another project, Oscar-nominated director Roland Joffe is directing Rai in 'Singularity', a romantic drama, according to reports reaching us 'Chaos' is the English version of a French director's social drama. The movie depicts chaos created by the pimps who beat a young prostitute played by former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. This scene is witnessed by a couple, who takes opposite sides. While the woman empathises with the prostitute, the husband feels the contrary. Still, the gentleman takes the prostitute to the hospital. Later, he develops deep bond with her. British writer and producer Meera Syal said Aishwarya couldn't have picked a better time to launch her Hollywood career.

"She is staggeringly beautiful, for a start," Syal said. "How she's cast may be another matter." But Syal believed Aishwarya's choices for her first Hollywood outings - she has avoided blockbusters with two-dimensional roles - prove she's one step ahead.

DIA MIRZA CONFESSES A KISSING SCENE

Dia Mirza of 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha' is not apologetic about being a stripper. She claims that the movie is not about a stripper though. Rather it's about the person she is. She says that there is no stripping scene in her movie. However, she wears hot pants while singing a bold song. She confesses a kissing scene though with Emraam Hashmi in the movie. However, she justifies it as "being an integral part" of the film. She adds that she felt disgusted during the kiss as can be seen on her face because it happens to be a stranger who does it. However, there is nothing vulgar in it. Anyone dare not do it with her without the demand of the script.

Diya renamed herself as Dia, not for any astrological reason, but for the historical one. She had changed it during her school days when her classmates ragged her by calling Dai (midwife). Referring to Vivek Oberoi, she says, "We are good friends as much as I used to call him a big bear and I was his Goldilocks." She regrets that he has disappeared from her life!

JIKA bangunan Lembaga Pelancongan Singapura (STB) selama ini menjadi ibu pejabat kakitangannya memancing pelancong ke negara ini, semalam ia 'berubah' menjadi sebuah apartmen pula.

Di luar bangunan yang terletak di Orchard Spring Lane semalam, ia menjadi tempat pertemuan sepasang kekasih, Rohit Mehra Jr (lakonan Hrithik Roshan) dan Priya (Priyanka Chopra).

Namun pertemuan itu turut memancing puluhan pasang mata khususnya pengarah filem Bollywood, Koi... Mil Gaya, Rakesh Roshan, yang kini berada di Singapura untuk filem susulannya, Krrish.

'Penggambaran kami di sini bukan penggambaran biasa di mana kami hanya datang untuk merakamkan beberapa lagu sahaja dan akan terus pulang.

'Kami akan berada di sini selama 60 hari,' kata Rakesh.

Sepanjang tempoh itu, barisan pelakonnya akan beraksi antara lain di Taman Haiwan Singapura, Esplanade, Pulau Ubin, Chinatown, Sungai Singapura, Orchard Road dan Lapangan Terbang Changi.

Malah sebahagian daripada East Coast Parkway (ECP) akan ditutup bagi membolehkan aksi-aksi nekad dirakamkan, ujar Encik Ken Low, Pemangku Ketua Pembantu Eksekutif (Jenama & Perhubungan) STB.

Filem cereka sains, Krrish, yang 60 peratus akan dirakamkan di Singapura, adalah filem besar pertama yang mendapat sebahagian daripada dana $10 juta di bawah skim STB, Filem Di Singapura.

'Sama seperti filem-filem atau siri dari Korea yang mendapat sambutan hangat, orang ramai kini melihat Korea sebagai salah satu destinasi yang menarik.

'Oleh kerana itu, kami berharap Singapura juga akan dapat meninggalkan kesan yang serupa menerusi dunia perfileman,' tambah Encik Low menukil filem Krrish yang bakal ditayangkan Jun ini.

Tapi bagi kedua-dua bintang filemnya semalam tidak sesaat pun diperuntukkan kepada pihak media bagi mewa wancara mereka.

Pendek kata, pihak media bak dungu menunggu Duggu (nama gelaran Hrithik).
