Lippi also opted to select Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon despite being linked with a gambling probe.
The shot-stopper was questioned my magistrates on Saturday before insisting that he had done nothing wrong.
"I have spoken to the player and I dont think the affair will distract him," continued the tactician.
"Buffon is an individual of seriousness and great personality. There was no reason to exclude him from the squad."

The Azzurri squad, including the four reserve players, will meet up at the Coverciano training base on May 22.
The side will face friendlies against Ukraine in Geneva on May 31 and then Switzerland in Lausanne on June 2.
Italy kick-off their World Cup campaign versus Ghana on June 12.
