If we score one away goal at the Emirates then Arsenal need to score 3. If we score anything more than one away goal then its pretty much game over. I'm confident in our ability to score at least one goal at the Emirates through out the 90 minutes.
We've always scored there and to be honest i can't see Arsenal keeping a clean sheet especially if we play with as much work rate and determination as we did today. Don't get me wrong there's a good chance that Arsenal will score at least one goal, but i just think we'll do the same. So as long as we don't concede early; then i fancy our chances.
I just hope that we don't go there with the mentality of "a draw will do". Because for us to play like we did today; we need to play to win.

Ronaldo criticises referee

Cristiano Ronaldo claims poor refereeing decisions denied Manchester United claiming a bigger win against Arsenal.

Ronaldo claimed Danish referee Claus Bo Larsen "did not have best night" and two crucial offside calls denied United goals. TV replays showed Brazilian midfielder Anderson was onside when he was flagged, while Ryan Giggs, who went on to score, was a borderline decision.

Ronaldo said: "Two offsides are not offside and a few fouls he didn't give. It was not his best game."

He added: "The first one Anderson was not offside and, with Giggsy, I'm not sure either. They are not great decisions but you have to respect the referees even if they were not brilliant - and just hope they will be better at Arsenal."

Ronaldo insisted United deserve to be the bookies' favourites to hold on to their European crown and believes they will triumph in next week's semi-final, second leg at the Emirates.

"We should be the favourites, we are the holders of the Champions League and we are full of confidence," said the Portugal winger.

"It's going to be more difficult now Arsenal are at home but it's no problem to us as we are very experienced.

"We created so many chances that I believe we will score again at Arsenal next week.

"It was [Manuel] Almunia's night and he stopped a few goals and, when the goalkeeper is the best player on the pitch, it shows how difficult it is for other teams to play against us."

Almunia: United are beatable

Manuel Almunia is confident Arsenal can turn things around after keeping alive the Gunners' hopes of reaching the final.

John O'Shea's close-range strike in the 17th minute was all the defending champions had to show for their efforts on a night when Almunia was in inspired form.

The Arsenal goalkeeper had set the tone for the night with a fine reaction save to deny Wayne Rooney in the opening moments, before also denying Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo.

When Almunia was beaten by Ronaldo's blistering 25-yard strike midway through the second half, the ball struck the crossbar.

Arsene Wenger's squad may have only shown their potential in patches last night, but Almunia maintains the fact the tie is not already over means they still have every chance to reach the final when the teams do battle again at Emirates Stadium next Tuesday night.

Almunia said: "1-0 in this stadium is not that bad a result because there are not that many teams who play here and go away with a clean sheet.

"We expected them to start with a high tempo, but in the second half we showed that if Arsenal can keep the ball, then we can beat them.

"We have to be more or less happy and look forward to the second leg at the Emirates.

"It is our last chance to do something this year, so we will try to put all of the pressure on Manchester United and the fans will help as well."

Wenger knows he has Almunia to thank for the fact Arsenal remain alive in the competition.

"Manuel Almunia was excellent," the Arsenal manager said.

"It was a top-class performance from him. His reading of the game was fantastic and his sharpness was superb."

Wenger remains optimistic his men will produce a much better performance for the second leg.

"There is a final at stake and I am confident you will see a different Arsenal team next week," he said.

"Things like that happen in football. At home I believe we can do it."

Wenger, who has pledged to field his strongest side at Portsmouth in Saturday's Barclays Premier League game as they aim to catch third-placed Chelsea, added: "Manchester United started stronger than us, but the positive is that we only lost 1-0.

"They could have scored the second. That kept us in the tie and we want to take advantage of that.

"We were not dangerous enough offensively, not sharp enough in the final third. That meant United could play the way they love to play, on the counter-attack, and that was a clear advantage for them.

"We did not create enough, but it is more important to think about what we want to do next Tuesday."

Wenger: You will be sorry United

Arsene Wenger has told Manchester United that they will pay for only bagging a 1-0 Champions League semi-final first leg win.

Irish defender John O'Shea gave United the priceless but ultimately slender lead to take into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Arsenal next Tuesday.

O'Shea's 17th-minute effort was the least Sir Alex Ferguson's side deserved for a near faultless display, in which Manuel Almunia several stunning saves and Cristiano Ronaldo rattled the Gunners' crossbar.

In addition, Ryan Giggs had a goal controversially disallowed for offside on his 800th appearance, meaning Arsenal headed home glad to still have a chance of reaching Rome on May 27, a train of thought Wenger believes his side will ram home in the second leg.

"They can have regrets because they did not score a second goal," explained the Frenchman.

"The return leg will be a good opportunity to show our character and mental strength.

"It is down to us to make sure they regret they didn't.

"I am confident that you will see our strength of character - and next Tuesday I can talk about it in the Press conference after the game.

"It will be our biggest win over United if we do it because there is a final at stake.

"And when we play at home and know that there is a final at stake we will be up for it.

"We will be up for it next Tuesday and I am confident we can do it. I believe we will be on top."

Kaka Off, Messi On For United

Manchester United will not move for Kaka, but instead are trying to sign Lionel Messi this summer.

The Manchester Evening News understands that United officials are furious over weekend reports that Kaka's representatives have been approached over a potential transfer.

The club has a good relationship with the Rossoneri and is unhappy that it may be compromised by the speculation.

The Reds are in fact not interested in signing Kaka, and are instead focusing their attention on Messi.

Barcelona would be unwilling to part with their star player and United would almost certainly have to produce a record-breaking offer.

However, if Cristiano Ronaldo's still-mooted move to Real Madrid were to go ahead, Sir Alex Ferguson would receive a huge cash injection that could fund the move.

Carlos Tevez is also thought to be leaving in the summer and Messi could be the man to replace both he and Ronaldo.

Mkk to RM?? oh! no...
