BMS Axle Racing develop GT3 car for Macau GP
Posted by: Anthony Lim
BMS Axle Racing has developed a GT3 race car, which will make its racing debut in the coming Macau GP race. It's the result of a collaboration between two companies, in this case BMS, Bufori’s Motor Sport division, and Axle Motorsport, a company dealing in high technology motor racing development and founded by Alex Yoong.
After being approached by Bufori to develop a GT3 version of its Bufori CS model, Yoong put together a team of personnel consisting of local and Formula 1 engineers and mechanics to work on and develop the GT3 project, which took just nine and a half weeks to complete.
“Using the experience and knowledge of the Formula 1 personnel, the teams intention was to help transfer the technology to the local manufacturer in aid of helping them develop new methods and technology,” he said.
“In my years of being a part of motorsport, from regional series all the way to Formula 1, I’ve always wanted to help grow the industry here in Malaysia as well as Asia. This project was a great catalyst to do so, as it extends from what we were doing with the Malaysian A1GP Team, taking it a step further from running a race team at an international level to building the actual race car from ground up.” he added.
The team has been working closely with Bufori to ensure a smooth transition of development and technology. “A large part of this project is of course not only to go racing and to do well, but to also have the road versions of the car benefit from what the team has learned and developed in order to produce a better performance and experience for our customers.” said Bufori's CEO Joe Lim.
The car will be undergoing its first test session this weekend before being sent to Macau for next week's race.

PROTON R3 RALLY TEAM FINISHES LEG 1 OF RALLY CHINA IN 4TH OVERALL
Saturday 14th November 2009, Longyou, China. Alister McRae put in an inspired drive for the Proton R3 Rally Team to finish 4th overall in Leg 1 of the rally today against stiff competition both from the Asia Pacific Rally and China National Rally Championship teams. Cody Crocker, 4 time Asia Pacific Rally Champion is leading with former British Rally Champion David Higgins in 2nd and former Australian Rally Champion Dean Herridge in 3rd.
The Rally of China has again lived up to its reputation as being one of the toughest rallies in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship with the tough conditions taking a large toll as 28 out of 81 competitors failed to finish the day’s stages. The tight and twisty stages in the mountainous region of Longyou County leaves little room for error although fine weather today has greatly improved stage conditions throughout.

Composites in Lotus F1 deal
2009/12/04
LANGKAWI: Composities Technologies Research Malaysia (CTRM) is used to making composite parts for all manner of vehicles, especially aircraft.
But CTRM yesterday entered into a different sort of agreement -- the research and development and manufacture of composite parts for Lotus F1 racing cars.
The deal was signed between CTRM and 1Malaysia Racing Team Sdn Bhd, the parent company of the Lotus F1 racing team.
CTRM chief executive Datuk Rosdi Mahmud and Lotus F1 Racing chief executive Riad Asmat signed for their respective companies at a ceremony witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
1Malaysia Racing Team principal Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes said CTRM was chosen because it had proven that Malaysians "truly have what it takes to be competitive on the world stage".
CTRM yesterday also delivered a refurbished Cessna Caravan 208 to the police and a radar antenna radome to the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
It also engaged in business opportunities with seven of its collaborating partners for various purposes.
