Papers: Villa fancies Reds
Chelsea and United go head-to-head for Villa
Chelsea will make a £33million bid for Valencia's super Spanish striker David Villa - but he would rather go to rivals Manchester United. Roman Abramovich has approved a mega bid for the hitman who will be sold by his hard-up club in the next transfer window, and a top agent has been brought in to do the deal. The Stamford Bridge outfit are planning the raid and hope to have their transfer ban lifted or suspended to let them bring the superstar to London at the second attempt. However, the Villa camp have revealed that they have already turned down Chelsea once - in the last window - and the player would still prefer to go to United. A source close to the star said: "David was approached about the Chelsea move in the summer but did not fancy it. He was not sure how often he would play or whether they played his style. Manchester United is his first choice in England, but there is a problem with that because of the price and his age. If it can be agreed with Valencia he would sooner go to Old Trafford."

Meanwhile, former United star Cristiano Ronaldo is not relishing the prospect of facing the Reds in this season's Champions League. The Real Madrid winger is quoted by The Times as saying: “I don’t want to play United [in the knockout rounds] — they’re a very strong team and I have many friends there. I played for six years at Old Trafford and have many friends at the club, but maybe if we met in the final it would be good. It will be very difficult if we play against United but to be honest I don’t want to play them." |

bb rooney has arrived this time!
The wife of England footballer Wayne Rooney Coleen has given birth to a boy they have named Kai Wayne, a spokesman for the couple said.
Coleen had her baby at Liverpool Women's Hospital on Monday.
Rooney, who plays for Manchester United, had earlier missed his team's training session ahead of their Champions League match on Wednesday.
Coleen was nine days overdue and would normally have been induced by doctors at such a stage.
The child was born at 1420 GMT, their spokesman said.
He added: "Mother and baby are both absolutely fine. Wayne and Coleen are thrilled with the wonderful addition to their family life." |
