ok kisah satu...
This 'resort' is in the middle of nowhere. We booked for 1 night in the lakeside chalet, as a base to seeing the geographical formations in the area (Wave Rock, Mulkas Cave etc). It is a great location for all that, without having to go into Hyden proper, but because of this, it is isolation at its best. You pick up your keys from the Caravan Park reception, and then get sent on your way to the deserted wasteland, at the end of which lies the chalets. We went in winter, and didn't see another car or lit chalet around us, so much have been the only family staying that night. My dad was a little freaked out, and put a chair to secure the door. The lake was pretty dried up in the winter, so will be pretty desert like in the summer. The chalet itself is actually really spacious, and facilities decent. Despite the eeriness of it all, we enjoyed ourselves, and will stay again if visiting Wave Rock.
Stayed June 2011, travelled with family |

kisah kedua.. lg interesting.. mmg ada persamaan cerita kami dan cerita dia..
Wave Rock Lakeside Resort is located next to a dry salt lake surrounded by dead trees & the dry cracked dirt of an outback wasteland, the earth poisoned by high salinity. A pretty dramatic place. Adding to the creepiness of the resort, the entire area is considered taboo by Aborigines due to the legend of a man who was a large cross-eyed cannibal who was banished to a cave 17kms away for eating children. Mulka’s Cave was his dwelling where his ancient faint hand stencils can be seen.
Our outback chalet had a full functioning & equipped kitchen, fridge, microwave, outdoor BBQ including gas in a screen room but no oven. The two bedrooms had a queen & single bed each. The LCD TV had local channels but no digital TV. Aircon was fine, hot water was adequate, electricity never died & the desert sunset was beautiful. We paid about $185 which could sleep 6 people. The reception desk is actually at the Wave Rock kiosk which also owns the caravan park & motel a few mins drive away.
Its a resort in a very loose sense without room service or any on-site staff for that matter. During the summer the lake is a dry salt pan making the canoe pretty much useless but is a fascinating sight nonetheless.
Food can be purchased in town at Hyden at the local IGA supermarket which closes at 6:30pm. Hamburgers at the café/petrol station cost $8 each...eat bread!
To be honest we found the whole place creepy & the blackness of the night & its dead surroundings very disturbing. It didn’t help encountering a crazy old man just before sunset who was disorientated & mumbled jibberish asking for directions far from where he wanted to be, keep in mind the resort is isolated. Most of us couldn’t find sleep but were too embarrassed to tell each other until morning. We found locked doors wide open which was the catalyst to pack & leave immediately. |
