Dortmund vs Arsenal Player Ratings
The spoils were shared at the Signal Iduna Park after Borussia Dortmund drew 1-1 with Arsenal in the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund

Roman Weidenfeller - 6
Did not have anything to do after conceding a goal as Arsenal were happy to sit back, soak up the pressure and defend the one goal lead.

Mats Hummels - 7
Sticked out a boot to save Dortmund from a certain goal from Gervinho shortly after kick-off and was an aerial threat from set pieces.

Neven Subotic - 7
The no nonsense defender kept Van Persie quiet for virtually the whole game, apart from that one instance where Van Persie managed to sneak between the two central defenders and score.

Marcel Schmelzer - 5.5
The left back's crosses were woeful all game, and he also struggled to keep up with the the pace of Walcott.

Lukasz Piszczek - 7
Did an excellent job in keeping the likes of Gervinho quiet all game. There was just no way past the right back in this game.

Sebastian Kehl (71' off) - 6
The skipper had only one thing on his mind: to eliminate the creative threat from Arteta, which he did effectively. However, he was the culprit of a lazy pass, which eventually led to the Van Persie goal.

Sven Bender - 6.5
Nothing too fancy from him, just kept things neat and tidy in midfield and battled hard to win possession back for his team.

Kevin Großkreutz (71' off) - 4.5
Squandered his side's best chances to go ahead in the first half after firing a shot way off target - and that basically summed up his contributions to the game.

Mario Gotze - 8
Pulled the strings from midfield and he was the architect of most of the Dortmund attacks - at the tender age of 19!

Shinji Kagawa (85' off) - 7.5
End to end stuff from the Japanese international. Possesses an incredible work rate and played the triangular passes with his teammates very well.

Robert Lewandowski - 6.5
Had a very bright start, but could not apply the finish to give the home team the lead despite the number of chances he had in both halves.

Substitutions
Jakub Blaszczykowski (71' on) - 6
Added more pace and running to the already energetic Dortmund team.
Ivan Perisic (71' on) - 7
What. A. Volley.
Mohamad Zidan (85' on)
N/A

Arsenal

Wojciech Szczesny - 7
Yet another game to prove that he deserves that no.1 spot between the posts. Nothing he could do about the goal though.

Laurent Koscielny - 7
Kept his eye on the ball and did whatever he needed to do to clear any eminent danger.

Per Mertesacker - 7
Probably understood what the Dortmund players were shouting at each other as he was always at the right place at the right time, winning the crucial tackles and headers.

Kieran Gibbs - 6.5
A remarkable improvement from his previous game, striking the perfect balance of going forward and staying back to defend when necessary.

Bacary Sagna - 7.5
The reliable defender ran all the way back to hack the ball off the line after Szczesny he was clearly beaten by Lewandowski. Without a doubt he is Arsenal and the French national team's first choice right back.

Mikel Arteta - 6
Finally a Champions League game after a long eight years wait, althought it was not the start he had in mind as he allowed the Dortmund midfielders to run riot. Fear not Arteta, there is still time for improvement.

Yossi Benayoun - 5
Had many poor touches and he looked lost on the pitch. Needs more time on the training ground to get in sync with his new teammates.

Alex Song - 9
Kept his concentration and tracked the runners from midfield diligently, ensuring no player in yellow had a clear shot on goal. Superb cover for his back four.

Gervinho - 5
Could have given Arsenal the lead minutes after kick-off but was unfortunate the ball wouldn't drop nicely for him. He should have made more passes in this game instead of trying to run at defenders, of which he failed miserably.

Robin Van Persie (88' off) - 8
Clinical finishing from the Dutchman. Scored on his second clear cut chance on goal and worked tirelessly to win possession back for Arsenal.

Theo Walcott (76' off) - 6
A subdued first half, and unproductive second half as the Dortmund players stuck close to him and did not allow him space to start his sprints.

Substitutions
Emmanuel Frimpong (76' on)
N/A
Marouane Chamakh (88' on)
N/A
Andre Santos (88' on)
N/A

Blackburn vs Arsenal Player Ratings
Blackburn came from behind twice to pull off a shock result at Ewood Park as Yakubu scored two goals on his debut and Arsenal conceded two own goals.

Blackburn
Paul Robinson - 7.5
Kept Blackburn in the game with a few good saves, including one from a point-blank Van Persie header.

Michel Salgado (Off 18') - 6
Used his experience to deal with Andrey Arshavin well before he left the match with an injury.

Christopher Samba - 7.5
Led the defense spectacularly and kept Van Persie out of the game. Also threatened to score a few times from set pieces with his aerial ability.

Scott Dann - 6
Showed glimpses of what made Blackburn sign him on deadline day but he's not the finished article. Could have prevented Arsenal's first goal by being more alert and failed to outjump Chamakh for Arsenal's third.

Gael Givet - 5.5
Left to fend for himself against Sagna and Gervinho and looked unsure in defence.

David Hoilett - 8
The main thrust of Blackburn's attack, his was a constant thorn in Arsenal's defence, running at them all day long. His cross unsettled the back line and provided Blackburn with many of their best chances.

Jason Lowe - 7.5
Shunted to right back after 18 minutes due to Salgado's injury and put in an excellent shift by keeping Arshavin quiet.

Steven Nzonzi - 7
Was quiet in the first half being overrun by Arteta and Song but performed well in the second half with forward passes that set up many Blackburn counter-attacks.

Ruben Rochina (Off 55') - 7
Slotted in behind Yakubu well, and provided Blackburn with accurate delivery from set-pieces, but his decision-making was questionable when he chose to dribble on instead of play Yakubu or Formica who were in better positions.

Mauro Formica (Off 64') - 7.5
Threated to expose Arsenal's frailties in defence with good runs but didn't receive the ball. Bothered oscielny and Mertesacker enough to take the attention from Yakubu.

Ayegbeni Yakubu - 8.5
Scored two goals on an excellent debut. Showed his instincts in both goals - the first a turn-and-shoot and a second a typical goal poacher's tap-in.

Substitutes
Radosav Petrovic (On 18') - 6.5
Did well in the midfield to surpress Song and Arteta in the second half.
Martin Olsson (On 55') - 7
His lung-bursting run in the second half led to Blackburn's fourth goal.
Simon Vukcevic (On 64') - 6
Didn't have much of an impact on the game.

Arsenal
Wojciech Szczesny - 4
Was let down by his defence and could have done better in the game, where Yakubu's first goal lacked pace.

Bacary Sagna (Off 52') - 7.5
Overlapping dangerously on the right flank, Sagna provided extra width and dangerous crosses but was taken off due to injury.

Per Mertesacker - 5.5
Looked uncomfortable when Blackburn's players ran at him and slow to close down Hoilett when he cut in from the flanks

Laurent Koscielny - 4.5
Slow to track down Yakubu and scored an own goal. Backed off too much when being counter-attacked, leaving the Blackburn attackers too much space and too many options.

Andre Santos - 5
Still not in sync with the Arsenal back line. He played Yakubu onside for Blackburn's goal. Still looked rather unsure of himself when going up as well.

Alex Song (Off 75') - 7.5
Showed another aspect of his game by setting up both goals with excellent through balls. Unfortunate to score the own goal when he was caught off guard by the lack of pace from the Rochina freekick

Mikel Arteta - 7
Kept his cool to finish off his first goal for Arsenal. Did well in a game where Arsenal was disappointing, distributing the ball intelligently.

Aaron Ramsey - 7
One of Arsenal's better performers, Ramsey did well to track back and help out in defence as well as linking up the play from flank to flank.

Gervinho - 8
Good movement and finishing to put Arsenal ahead. Arsenal's sharpest player by far with his dangerous play in the Blackburn half

Robin van Persie - 5.5
Kept quiet by Samba all game long but was let down by his teammates as well, particularly Gervinho, who opted to shoot instead of pass to a wide open van Persie.

Andrey Arshavin (Off 64') - 6
Still looking to find his form in the game, he looked dangerous when cutting in but his final touch was lacking.

Substitutes
Johan Djourou (On 52') - 5.5
Looked vulnerable after he came on and looked uncomfortable dealing with Hoilett, requiring Arshavin to track back to cover him.
Theo Walcott (On 64') - 6
Brought pace but lacked the passing and shooting out on the wing.
Marouane Chamakh (On 75') - 6
Gave Arsenal hope immediately after he came on when his powerful header was saved by Robinson and he came through 10 minutes later when he rose above Dann and Givet to score the Gunner's third goal.

Mertesacker n Santos msh tcari2 rentak nk sesuaikan diri, esp Santos yg nmpk agak bhy ketika menyerang n cross, tp agak plahan ketika btahan...mcm xbrape larat nk kejar striker blackburn...seronok tgk Arteta n Gervinho main...wpn Gerhinho bbrp kali ilang bola...wenger kena settle-down mslh kat full-back n centre-back (koncielny kureng arr)

Arsene Wenger: "At the moment we do not have the capability to focus defensively for 90 minutes to win games. It is important you do not give cheap goals away like we did. It's just not good enough and, of course, we are very frustrated. The spirit in the team is quite willing but if you look at the number of goals we have conceded it is just not good enough. You cannot come here and concede four goals the way we did today. Speculation is part of modern life, there is nothing I can do about that. My future is focused on me giving the best for the club."
