Ronaldo can't repeat heroics - Terry

Chelsea skipper John Terry believes Cristiano Ronaldo will be unable to sustain last season's sensational form for Manchester United.

Ronaldo's stunning 42-goal haul underpinned United's Premier League and European double and led to Real Madrid's summer pursuit of the Portuguese winger.

Having succeeded in fending off the Spanish giants for another year, Old Trafford now awaits to see if his brilliance was a one-off.

Terry insists he will fail to scale those heights again - along with many of the United line-up who he feels peaked last season.

"I don't think United have another level to go to. They had a lot of players who have been at the peak of their form for the last two years," he said.

"Rio Ferdinand has been awesome for the last two years and Cristiano Ronaldo was unbelievable - I don't think you'll see that again.

"Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Ryan Giggs - they have all been fantastic.

"I think we can close the gap because Man Utd were at the very top of their game last season.

"But we've been very close to them and we had injuries and a change of manager."

Terry has been impressed with Chelsea's business in the transfer window under new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari and believes a good start is key to wrestling the title from United.

"The new manager has come in and made a few changes. He's made some great signings. Deco looks awesome so I'm excited to see him play," he said.

"We need to start well and get off to a flyer, just keep winning.

"Man Utd have a few tough games early on. Liverpool have made some good signings and will be stronger this year. We need to focus.

"We have a good home record and if we can continue that and get off to a good start we'll be all right."

Rio Ferdinand names his kids after actor Larenz Tate

If you thought Premiership footballer Rio Ferdinand was a right Lymon for calling his new son Tate - you'd be half right.
Rio was so taken with the name of the actor who played suave womaniser Frankie Lymon in the movie Why Do Fools Fall In Love? that he has now named both his boys after him.
The Man U star, who is tipped to captain England next week, welcomed 7lbs 6oz Tate into the world last week.
Rio and wife Rebecca Ellison also have a two-year-old son called Lorenz.
Now he has revealed that the brothers are both named after actor Larenz Tate, who played three-timing singer Lymon in the hit 1997 film.

Roy Keane has tipped Chelsea to win the Premier League title next May. "For me, it's Chelsea this year," insisted the former Manchester United captain and current Sunderland manager whose opinion is unlikely to impress Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I always felt that United would do it last year," said Keane. "But I fancy Chelsea this time. There's no African Cup of Nations in January, they've got a new manager, they've bought one or two players and, for all the ups and downs, last year they still nearly nicked it."

His confidence in the London club could, however, be diluted slightly if Dimitar Berbatov completes his anticipated transfer to Old Trafford from Tottenham Hotspur. "If United get a top striker in then they've got a chance," conceded Keane. "But my gut feeling this year would still be Chelsea."
