Inzaghi set for Czech tie?

Italy striker Pippo Inzaghi is a serious contender to start against the Czech Republic on Thursday, reports are suggesting.
The Milan striker was a late addition to the Azzurri squad after his sensational 2006 at club level, but has yet to appear on German soil.
Nevertheless, it is understood that boss Marcello Lippi is pondering including him in his next starting XI.
Italy need to avoid defeat to secure qualification, while a victory would see the Azzurri top their group and miss out on Brazil in the second round.
And with star striker Luca Toni struggling to perform, Lippi may opt to give his former Juventus disciple a chance to shine.
Inzaghi reminded everyone of his presence in a training game on Monday when he netted six goals.
He could now start in a 4-3-1-2 alongside club colleague Alberto Gilardino and be supported by Francesco Totti.
Inzaghi would certainly seem to be a popular choice for fans back home in the Italian peninsula.
Internet polls on various sites, such as the Gazzetta dello Sport抯 interactive platform, have him ranked as the player most would like to see brought into the side.
Lippi admitted on Sunday that he perhaps should have brought SuperPippo on while they struggled to break down nine-man America.

DUISBURG, Germany (AP) - Italy is questioning its tactics after only two games at this year's World Cup.
Scores of accolades rolled in after the Azzurri opened with a 2-0 win over Ghana. The 1-1 draw with the United States was met with calls from the Italian press to "redo Italy."
Italy coach Marcello Lippi made a rare admission when he said that maybe it would have been better to insert Filippo Inzaghi in the second half against the Americans instead of Alessandro Del Piero.
On Tuesday, two days before the final group game with the Czech Republic, captain Fabio Cannavaro wavered in his analysis of Italy's new offensive lineup.
Lippi installed a very un-Italian three-forward formation when he took over from conservative Giovanni Trapattoni two years ago.
First, Cannavaro said "this formation certainly has a more offensive slant. But changing now would be like going in reverse and negating all the progress we've made in the last two years."
A few moments later, he suggested Italy should return to the "catenaccio" - defensive lockdown - days of old.
"We've got to start being cynical Italians again. The key to going all the way is playing more solidly and covering more defensively as typical Italian soccer culture dictates," Cannavaro said. "We've got to go back to our origins."
Lippi's high-octane lineup worked to perfection in wins over the Netherlands and Germany in friendlies. Its last two warmups were less impressive - draws with Switzerland and Ukraine.
While Lippi held steady with his attacking trio of Francesco Totti, Luca Toni and Alberto Gilardino against Ghana and the United States, signs of change seem to be coming.
Lippi had a long one-on-one talk with Totti during Italy's training session Monday and speculation has it that he was preparing the playmaker for a lineup change. Or possibly even a move to the bench, since Totti has still not returned to top form after leg surgery in February.
Toni is another candidate for the bench. While the Fiorentina forward scored 31 goals in Serie A this past season, he has not found the net since the season ended more than a month ago.
Inzaghi, the AC Milan forward who has always performed best in international competitions, appears to be moving up the depth chart.
For the Gazzetta Dello Sport, the decision has already been made.
"Lippi's plan will include Inzaghi," the paper's front-page headline read Tuesday.
Italy must beat the Czechs in Hamburg to be sure of winning Group E.
The last time Inzaghi played in Hamburg in 2000, he scored a hat trick for Juventus in a 4-4 draw with Hamburger SV in the Champions League.
