Ohhh..depa lemas sebab kaki terbenam dlm selut. Mesti panik sgt ni. N yes cikgu patut lebih bersedia utk hadapi situasi mcm ni so mmg nmpak cikgu2 ni xde pengalaman sgt. Patut la bapanya reda je. Aktiviti2 mcm ni sebenarnya sgt bagus utk budak2 tu tapi keselamatan n persedian tu penting.

BEAUFORT: The father of one of three students who drowned at the Membakut resort here this morning said he was hesitant to allow his 16-year-old son, Daniel Norman, to be part of his school’s camping excursion.

Norisham Purah, a 51-year-old imam at Petagas mosque, said he had reservations over Daniel’s trip, even though his son was a good swimmer and had been part of many camping activities before.

"He was an active member of the police cadet.

“But I had a bad feeling about this trip. And also, because I wanted to bring him to visit my eldest son at Tenom, today," he said when met by reporters at the Beaufort hospital.

Daniel, who was the seventh of eight siblings, insisted on going for the excursion, and turned to his sister for the RM30 camping fee.

"So I sent him to school yesterday (Friday), and he said the group would return on Sunday.

"The next thing I know, I receive a call from the school at around 11.30am this morning, informing me that my son had drowned," he said.

In the incident, Daniel and two other SMK Putatan students – Hafiz Hamizan Rahman, 16 and Khuzaimi Zakaran, 17 – slipped and fell into the deep end of a lake while trekking through one of the watery jungle tracks at the Resort Lake Eco.

According to a police report, a total of seven students fell into water, but four were rescued.

The survivors were sent for treatment at the district hospital and are reported to be stable.

Sabah education director Datuk Maimunah Suhaibul said the camping programme was approved by the Penampang district education office and that the work plan did not involve activities in the water.

"There are so many versions about what happened. So I need to get the full report from the district education office first (before commenting further)," she said.

Bakal kecoh ni...

Apa cerita sebenar? [UPDATE]
Ahad, 7 Mei 2017 @ 12:35 PM

Parents seek justice for children who drowned during leadership camp

The area where the three boys drowned in Membakut, some 90km from Kota Kinabalu.

KOTA KINABALU: Grieving parents of three schoolboys who drowned during a leadership camping trip in south-western Membakut nine days ago, are still waiting for answers from teachers and the eco-resort operators.

"We are still not satisfied. Till today, no one has come forward to explain what really happened to our children, whether from the school authorities or the eco-resort operators over the April 29 incident," the families said in a statement read by Norisham Purah, 50, the father of Norman Danial, 16, during a press conference here on Sunday.

Norman, Qhuzaimi Jakaria, 17, and Hafiz Hamizan Abdul Rahman, 16, drowned while trekking along a stream at the eco-resort during their SMK Putatan school leadership camping trip involving some 119 students and 30 teachers.

Also present at the press conference were Norisham's wife Fatimall Mohd Salleh, 49; Jakaria Osman and his wife Anisha Jaafar, 46, (parents to Qhuzaimi), as well as Abdul Rahman Ahmad, 55, and Nur Farzyena Fung Abdullah, 46 (Hafiz's parents).

They claimed that the children drowned due to the negligence and irresponsibility of both teachers and the resort operators.

The parents said when there was no explanation or an official letter about the incident, they decided to hire a lawyer to pursue the matter.

The parents said they wanted answers on what had really happened during the tragic outing.

Following their initial report in Beaufort, the parents lodged another report with Penampang police here on May 4 in seeking justice for their children.

"No one has come forward to even say sorry to us," said Norisham, whose son Danial is the seventh of eight children.

According to the parents, they believed that based on what other students had told them, none of the accompanying teachers were with their children.

They said the children were left with the resort guide during the trek to the water area.

Jakaria said that based on what a student had said, the resort worker had allegedly ordered them to enter the stream without the permission of the teachers although water activities were not part of the camp course.

"There were no teachers with the first group that went ahead. Why was there no teachers with the students? They relied on the guides only?" he said, adding that his only son had shouted for help for nearly 10 minutes before he drowned.

He said this was based on what other students had told them.

He said he hoped both the police and Education Ministry would take appropriate action against those who allegedly acted negligently and irresponsibly.

"Even if there was any water activity allowed, the resort operators should have life jackets, signboards and other safety elements in the place," he added.

Beaufort police have classified the case as sudden death or death by misadventure and are probing aspects of negligence. The Education Ministry is probing if Standard Operating Procedures were followed.

The school leadership camp was approved by the Penampang district education office.

... toksah nak salah kan guru sangat lah  ..... cikgu2 ni hanya menurut perintah .....

tapi itu lahhh .. pelik jugak ............. 120 murid / 30 guru ... bermakna 1 guru bertanggungjawab menjaga 4 murid sahaja .....  kalau betul tak ada 1 cikgu pun bersama group murid2 yang tersasar ni ... masak lah guru2 terbabit .. di mana kamu?

kalau saya .... saya memang tak "percaya" sangat kat guru kalau melibatkan aktiviti2 luar .. yang kena naik bas .. naik kereta api bagai ni ...... memang saya tak akan lepaskan.

kes ni .. kalau parents nak saman2 nak bising ada pihak nak membela pun ... no hal ... ini kes bukan macam kes anak2 basikal johor tu.
