Putrajaya schools abolish class streaming system

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 2 — All schools in Putrajaya are no longer implementing the class streaming system according to the level of academic mastery in the 2018 school year, Putrajaya Federal Territory Education Director Roaini Jaafar said.

She said the concept was also accepted by parents because the students were no longer separated for academic achievement, but were combined in the same class in the process of teaching and learning (PdP) in the country in line with 21st century learning in 14 national schools and 26 secondary schools.

“This enables excellent students who master reading, calculating and writing to co-operate with and guide the less able students and to help each other. We are no longer separating them because we do not want to emphasise on academic achievement only.

“Education has many aspects, such as cooperation, communication, collaboration and creativity that must be exposed to children and we want them to help each other,” she said when met after visiting a first day school session at Sekolah Kebangsaan Putrajaya Presint 11 (1) here today.

Director-General of Education Datuk Amin Senin recently said that class streaming practice in accordance with the academic level of pupil and controlled schools had been stopped, while formal isolation methods such as Year One Entrance Test also needed to be completely abolished from 2019.

He was reported as saying that the practice was not an education policy but was done by the schools to improve academic achievements following the School Average Grade (GPS).


Commenting further, Roaini said form four and five students were separated as they depended on subject selection and streaming, and separations were made not based on academic achievements but students’ inclinations.

Meanwhile, SK Putrajaya Presint 11 (1) Parent Teacher Association (PIBG) president, Mohd Shahizan Abdullah said the council welcomed the recommendations made at the school, and parents agreed and understood the positive steps in improving the effectiveness of learning.

“I hope the practice is successful and effective where excellent students can help the weak students,” he said. — Bernama

maza zaman iols sekolah menengah dulu, bebudak kategori pandai suka look down kat bebudak yang tak berapa nak pandai.  Budak2 mana reti sangat nak berfikir kenapa orang tu lemah dalam akademik, Kecuali yang memang berjiwa pendidik, diorang akan gigih mengajar orang lain. Geng2 ni bila keluar U konpem jadi cikgu

Untuk kelas BI, wajar diasingkan mengikut kelayakan akademik yach...

Aiol sejak posted lagi udah ngajo kelas bahasa non streaming. Nak mati mengaja budak potensi 9A dan budak potensi 9G yang berada di dalam satu kelas yang sama. Serius.

Support this! Sepatutnya kita diajar utk tidak membandingkan antara satu sama lain, be happy with what u r n what u have...elak  jealousy n competition, be kind n support each other, there is always room for improvement. Tp tak tahulah kita ni bersedia ke dgn benda gini, mentality pprt dr menteri sampai pendidik ibapa bagaiii,  will be beryyyy loongggg processsss, bettet late than never bak kata pepatah

setakat mencuba sistem baru.kalu tak berjaya
akan  tukar balik cara lama.mcm pnp maths sains dlm inggeris dulu. sekurang2 nya tidak melibatkan peruntukan keewangan yg besar mcm pnp sains n maths dlm bi tu.

emmm..ada pro n kontra gak ni.
Tapi pada aku kalau peringkat sekolah rendah mungkin boleh dipraktik kan..tapi kalau sekolah menengah tahap pemikiran budak2 dah berlainan. Kalau sek Menengah tu elok aje di buat macam sebelum ni ..pengasingan pelajar. Betul spt kau cakap tu...budak2 pandai bila dicampur bersama dengan budak2 yg tak berapa minat belajar ni akan terganggu. Cikgu pun susah nak fokus pada yg betul2 minat bila duduk dalam satu kelas.

bila dah laksana system ni, makpak yg ada anak slow learner need to invest some money untuk pendidikan tambahan anak2 mereka so that their children not left too far behind, academically
sudah sudah lah invest duit kat rokok, kereta, gadget, tudung, produk kosmetik timbang kilo, hembek, cafe hipster etc

pesanan khidmat masyarakat di atas dibawakan oleh bedak buku cap nyonya. telan sebuku, gerenti putih 7 keturunan

Sekolah rendah pun tak sesuai. Bkn nk kata wktu sekolah je. Dalam hidup seharian pun x selesa bercampur gaul sgt dgn org yg lain pemikiran dan taraf kebersihan etc. Contoh cm perumahan laa. Yg kos rendah rupa umah cmna. X sggup nak duduk area cmtu.

Sekolah anak i dah bertahun2 buat.. sekolah baru, 1st batch baru lepas upsr tahun lepas dengan pencapaian 96% lulus dari 72 orang murid.
