Toronto van rampage: Carnage kills 10 and injures 15Mon, April 23, 2018A van has ploughed through crowds in Toronto's Yonge Street, leaving a trail of devastation stretching several city blocks
“He just destroyed so many people’s lives,” he said. “Every single thing that got in his way.”
Toronto paramedics are advising people to stay out of the area of Yonge Street near Finch and Sheppard Avenue.
Toronto Mayor John Tory called it "a very tragic incident".
He added he has "offered any and all assistance that the city can provide to the police to help this investigation".
Sunnybrook Hospital, which received at least seven patients from the scene of the incident, issued the following statement: "Following an incident involving a van striking a number of pedestrians in the Yonge and Finch area, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has received seven patients from the scene in its Trauma Centre.
"Sunnybrook’s Emergency Department has been locked down as an added precaution and access to the Bayview Campus is being controlled.
"Sunnybrook has activated its Hospital Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) and is meeting currently to ensure beds are available for the injured."
Police have identified the suspect in a deadly van attack in Toronto as Alek Minassian, a 25-year-old man from Richmond Hill, Ont., a suburb north of the city.
Ten people were killed and 15 injured on Monday afternoon after a rented white Ryder van jumped a curb and plowed into pedestrians along an approximately one-kilometre-long stretch of Toronto's busy Yonge Street.
A profile on social networking site LinkedIn identifies Minassian as a student at Seneca College in North York, the north Toronto neighbourhood where the attack took place.
This isn't the first Armenian-Christian terror attack. Armenian-Christians have carried out multiple assassinations against Turkish diplomats through-out Europe and the USA.
Some notable examples are: 1.) The assassination of Erkut Akbay in Lisbon, Portugal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Erkut_Akbay
A group calling itself Justice Commandos of the Armenian Genocide claimed responsibility.
2.) The assassination of Kemal Arkan (1927–1982) who was a Turkish diplomat assassinated by two US citizens of Armenian origin in Los Angeles, United States.
