Demo depan Dataran Putrajaya, penduduk Tanjung Malim mahukan calon MCA

PUTRAJAYA: A group of Tanjung Malim constituents are demanding for MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan to be retained in the parliamentary seat.

Orang Asli village head Yeok Wahab from Kg Pisang Ulu Rasau said the community was saddened to hear that a new candidate will replace Ong.

"Uncle Ong has done so much for us such as providing housing and electricity. He is a humble man which is why we call him uncle," he said during a protest held at Dataran Putrajaya today.

"We are here as volunteers and not paid to come here," Yeok added.

While 73-year-old Ahmad Abdul Karim from Kg Balun Slim lamented the choice of a new candidate, saying it may affect MCA's chances of retaining the constituency.

"I will speak plainly. Ong has helped us, and dealing with him is easy because he treats us as part of his family.

"We appeal to the prime minister to hear our appeal for YB Ong," he said.

The group's organiser Nikki Chow said under Ong's leadership there have been developments.

"There's a saying 'Sudah pilih tak kenal orang' but he's not that type of man. He listens and takes swift action when we need him," she said.

Temple chairman G. Kasaraja from Slim River said Ong had done much to help the Indian community.

"We believe he is a winnable candidate," he said.

He added Perak MCA chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon will have a "tough time" contesting for the seat due to the community's support for Ong.

1) Mca tulung semua bangsa/igama
2) umngok hanya tulung Melayu isele sunni aje
