World number two Rafael Nadal powered into the Australian Open second round with a straight-sets victory over Australian James Duckworth.
Our champ, playing first officialmatchsinceSeptember, won 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 in two hours and 15 minutes on Rod Laver Arena.
After the match, Rafa said: “Not easy to come back after a lot of months especially against a player who is playing super aggressive. It was difficult to be on rhythm. I’m very happy to be through, it’s always difficult to start after injuries. It’s so special to be back.”
