Preparations made in case more schools close

PARENTS are making contingency plans as more schools close after reporting Covid-19 cases.
Mother of two LH Teoh, 38, is one of those who is well prepared as she quit her job in the banking sector last year to focus on her children’s education during the pandemic.
This enabled her to cope when her daughter’s private school closed after a few classmates tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
“Quitting my job was a tough decision. I was left with not many options because I wanted to help my children cope with online learning, ” she said.
Teoh is happy with her Year One daughter’s school which conducts online classes successfully.
“I am satisfied with my daughter’s school even though I still have to guide her during online lessons, ” she said, adding that her son, who is in a government school, was learning at home too as her daughter had been in close contact with pupils who tested positive for the coronavirus.
“My son’s school did a much better job with online learning earlier this year and I am optimistic that this will continue if schools are closed again, ” said Teoh.
It was earlier reported that 19 schools in the Petaling District were closed due to the emergence of Covid-19 clusters.
Dr K. Suhana, who is a full-time university lecturer, is required to be on site five days a week.
She hoped her organisation would allow her to work off-site for at least twice a week, especially if the schools closed, so she could monitor her nine- and 10-year-old sons more effectively.
When schools were closed, she had to prepare breakfast and lunch for her sons in the morning before rushing to work. She taught them to use the laptop for their online lessons and gave them a smartphone for emergencies.
Suhana is fortunate to have a neighbour who checks on them at lunchtime to make sure they have eaten their meal and completed their schoolwork.
“If there is another lockdown, I will need to return to that routine, ” she said.
Single mother Racheal Maria, 42, has three schoolgoing children and fears another disruption in their studies if schools were closed.
“During the last lockdown, only one teacher conducted online lessons for my 14-year-old son.
“The rest just gave homework, without teaching. The same goes for my two other children who are in primary school.
“They did not have any lessons. I am worried about their studies, ” said Racheal.
Although Dr Hazfaneza Ab Halim said online learning was not as effective as physical lessons, especially for younger children, schools would have to close if Covid-19 cases continued to increase.
“Their grandmother would once again have to help my children with their online lessons, ” said the mother of three.
Federation of School Bus Associations of Malaysia president Amali Munif Rahmat said since the pandemic last year, about 40% of drivers had left the job.
He said any large-scale closure of schools would have a ripple effect.
“Most parents in the middle- income group are sending their children to school themselves.
“Another lockdown will ‘kill’ our industry.
“I hope the government understands the importance of our industry and classifies us as essential services so school bus drivers can be given incentives and other forms of aid, ” said Amali Munif. |

Sekolah rendah kat tempat iols pun ade kes tp tak tutup sekolah hanya kelas yg terlibat je kena ku ...
Sama la.. sebelah smk. Hari ni kat smk ramai tak dtg skola bila dpt tau skola sebelah ada covid. Yang masalahnya bebudak ni mmg bercampur2 tu yg risau. |

Biar merangkak..janji kenal huruf. Its ok. Kami ckgu2 suka je dorg kenal huruf dan blh mengeja n menyebut. Mcm aku skang jd ckgu BM. Math aku xleh ajar lg klas tu sbb x blh mengeja n menyebut. Huruf je kenal. Tp alhamdulillah..aku pulun kaw2. Hari ni, lebih separuh dh blh mengeja KVKV. Sok nk pulun KVK plak.
U jgn riso..ank baca merangkak2 its ok. Mula2 mmg cmtu. Nnt lama2 laju la..dun wori k. |

Lepas cuti sekolah haritu baru cikgu mula guna teks buk ...
Kitorg pun dh stat buku teks asalnya..tp dh ble 30++ x kenal huruf, 60++ x blh mengeja n menyebut..jd kami buat program BCK. Program ni utk ajar membaca je. So, aku ni ajar math, tp utk program ni, aku ajar BM.
Tp mmg btul..parent kena main peranan. Xleh hrp ckgu je. |

Pening la budak2 kejap tutup kejap bukak. Mak bapak punnn sukit2 nk tutup skolah, tapi mak bapak yg sama agaknya pi kenduri kendara, shopping mall mengangkut anak.
Kang tutup skolah, makcik kanteen terjejas, drbar bas terjejas.
Yg patut ditutup construction n kilang yg menyumbang kes tinggi tu. |

Aku setuju je kalo pdpr balik.. Walaupun kes kat sekolah anak aku 1 je.. Tu pun 1 sekolah ditutup.. Punya pengetua dia berkejar sana sini sedaya upaya minta tuk ditutupkan.. Sbb 1kelas yg ade kes positif tkt ade abang, kakak atau adik.. Merebak dlm adik beradik 1 hal.. Tkt merebak ms tunggu parents dtg jemput 1 hal.. Cuma lps ni x yah la mak bapak bising2 jd naga la, jd anaconda la, jd singa la, jd tarzan la semata2 anak2 pdpr.. Pd aku, anak aku p sekolah blk sekolah pun ade je benda yg dia org buat tuk aku bertempek dan membebel.. Lg penat ibu sy terlupa bawak blk buku. Made homework.. Ko rs pe aku rs.. Mendidih otak ni kalo letak cerek air leh msk agaknye |

Syllabus diorg agak advance skit dah macam pelajar matrikulasi. Tambahan pula ada peperiksaan amali menggantikan kertas 3 yang dimansuhkan bg subjects Fizik, Kimia, Bio.

Jangan kata Form 5, akak takajut lihat silibus pra sekolah ya hampon susahnyaaaa. Zaman akak dulu, ai think around darjah 2 or 3 baru blaja silibus pra sekolah tu, terutama Pendidikan Islam. Gila susah hurkeh (bagi akak). |

Tak ingat dah tahun bila last amali sains dilaksanakan utk peperiksaan SPM ni. Thn 1999 kot. Mama batch lama memang ada amali SPM, so, Si bongsu ni merasalah pengalaman peperiksaan amali ni nanti mcm mama dia.
Betul tu @diss69, zaman mrk ni info dihujung jari. Berbeza dgn zaman kita dulu-dulu. Mengharapkan/mengejar guru dan memerap di library kalau nak dpt ilmu.

Siang td membawang gan jiran lama.. Sekolah anak dia ade 4 atau 5 kelas tutup kes positif.. Sekolah agama pun ade lg kes positif.. Sekolah menenggah anak dia pun dah ade kes positif.. Dah tutup beberapa kelas.. Sekolah belakang rumah aku pon ade positif tp tutup kelas je.. Sjkc anak aku 1kes tutup sekolah seminggu.. Anak aku ckp sampai keluar dlm surat khabar cina pasal penutupan seminggu sekolah dia.. Skrg ni aku rs mcm terkepung gan sekolah2 yg ade kes positif.. Kalo pd aku baik tutup je sekolah.. |

Kalau Cikgu sendiri dah cakap camtu, mama tak tahu nak cakap apalah Cikgu.
Ingatkan silibus baru untuk pra sekolah ni banyak main-main sambil mengenal huruf dan belajar membaca.

lagi satu sebab kpm cadabgkan transisi pada tahun ini ialah selama 43 Hari. jadi is bermula pada 18/1 hgga 25/3. sebab Tu la buka sekolah baru guna buku teks. Ada modul/kit transisi yg disediakan Dan perlu dijalankan |
