Trouble for X Japan's Heath results in postponed concerts

The latest setback for reunited rock band X Japan came earlier this week as the group suddenly announced that it is postponing two concerts in Seoul scheduled for March 21 and 22. Reports have surfaced saying that the move was caused by trouble between bassist HEATH and his management agency, which may even result in HEATH leaving the band.

On Friday, the band announced on its website that the two Korean shows have been postponed. They further announced that ticket sales for the upcoming Tokyo Dome shows on May 2-3 have been postponed as well. Tickets were originally scheduled to go on sale Saturday.

The same day, newspapers began reporting that there was trouble between HEATH and his agency, stemming from the bassist's desire to go independent. According to more recent reports, the postponements resulted from difficulties in negotiations for the upcoming shows between that agency and the management committee handling the upcoming shows. That committee had been established as a common organization for the reunited band's activities, since the individual members are normally managed by different agencies.

One source said that there is a possibility that HEATH will leave the band. Someone from the committee stated that this is just a "recharging period" until the conflicts are settled. Furthermore, the committee emphasized that even if HEATH were to leave the band, the band would not break up.

The fate of the postponed concerts is still undecided, but for the time being, tickets are being refunded. The members issued an apology to their fans for all of the trouble.

Yoshiki promises that X Japan's Tokyo Dome shows will go on

X Japan leader Yoshiki held a press conference on Monday, announcing that the band's Tokyo Dome concerts scheduled for May 2-3 will be going on as planned. Due to some reported trouble between bassist HEATH and his management agency, the group postponed two concerts in Korea earlier this month. They also delayed the ticket sales for the Tokyo Dome shows, leading to concerns that the shows would be canceled.

But Yoshiki reassured fans that despite the current complications, there will be no postponement of the Tokyo Dome concerts. Lottery ticket sales are starting on Wednesday, initially through Yoshiki's mobile site. He also announced another stop on X Japan's world tour, on May 30 at the Pan-Chiao Stadium in Taipei, Taiwan.

Yoshiki further revealed that his Violet UK project is doing the theme song for Kazuaki Kiriya's upcoming movie "Goemon" (in theaters May 1). The song is a ballad titled "ROSA." No release date for the single has been determined yet.

news: band

X Japan do like to play publicity games, and I have to wonder if their hugely loyal fans treat it as a game or not. Yesterday, just two days before they are scheduled to play two nights at Tokyo Dome, the band finally announced that bassist Heath will take part. Any issues between Heath and the other members of the band - they are all with separate management - have been put aside for the moment. The official story was that he was having an "internal struggle about the direction of his musical career" and he cut himself off from everyone. One real casualty of this was a pair of scheduled shows in Korea on March 21-22, which were indefinitely postponed. With the show said to be costing

Yoshiki of rock band X Japan is said to have been out on an "all-night date" with Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi. According to newspapers, the two shared a meal together on Wednesday night.

Yoshiki attended an event for the Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne on Friday, where he was given the title of Chevalier. During the event, he was asked by reporters about his date with Zhang. He acknowledged that they had eaten together and ended up drinking until the morning. However, he clarified that they are just friends, and that they weren't alone as they watched a concert DVD.

X Japan receives huge response in Taiwan

TAIPEI — Popular rock band X Japan, who are in the middle of a world tour, rocked the local media after their first Taiwan show on Saturday. On Sunday morning, local papers were abuzz with news about the band, featuring huge articles and photos from the previous night’s event.

Before their next show in Hong Kong, lead member Yoshiki commented, “We broke through the language barrier using the simple slogan, “We are X,” and fans definitely responded. We gave ourselves a beating to make the show as good for fans as possible, and now our muscles are definitely feeling the effects.”

At the Taiwan concert, Yoshiki reportedly choked up during the song “Without you,” when video and photos of now deceased lead guitarist Hide were shown. “One by one, our dreams together with Hide were gradually coming true, but then that world was shattered.”

On the same day, Yoshiki personally made a donation to a local volunteer organization that helps orphans, saying, “I want to give these children opportunities and aspirations.”

X Japan In Concert

Rock band X Japan finally gave their Taiwanese fans what they'd been waiting for on Saturday night, playing their long overdue first concert on the island. The Taipei show was rescheduled twice, last August and again in February due to the health problems of drummer and band leader Yoshiki. He showed his appreciation to the legions of faithful X fans by wearing a wedding dress on stage, something he hasn't done since 1991.

The band then launched into their anthem "X," with the 20,000 fans joining them in the X Jump that has been said to cause a mini earth tremor. The ¥350-million show also featured a drum performance from Yoshiki on a moving platform 20m high, and a 12m-high YoshiKitty, an inflatable collaboration with the iconic Hello Kitty character. Once again, the late guitarist Hide appeared throughout the show on the 1200-inch wide screen. Newly added guitarist Sugizo performed overseas with the band for the first time.

Yesterday, Yoshiki announced that the band have received an offer to perform on the opening night of next year's World Expo in Shanghai. The expo will be the biggest ever, with 230 countries and regions expected to participate and the target for the number of visitors set at 70 million (the current record is the 64 million who attended the 1970 Osaka World Expo).

Plans are also progressing for a show at the 80,000-seat Olympic "Bird's Nest" stadium in Beijing, which is said to be awaiting the final stamp of approval. Yoshiki also said that he expects shows in France and the U.S. to be finalized this month.

Yoshiki escapes unharmed after being mobbed by fans in Kyoto bookstore

KYOTO — X Japan’s Yoshiki visited a Kyoto bookstore on Tuesday to greet fans and talk about the new book “YOSHIKI” (Kadokawa Publishing, 2,310 yen), a non-fiction tale of his dramatic near-death written by Narumi Komatsu.

Having arrived in Kyoto for other work, he proposed the idea of an appearance the night before, deciding on a surprise visit to Ogaki Bookstore in Karasuma. Despite the fact that the visit was only announced on Yoshiki’s website, over 300 fans had appeared by 7:30 a.m. that morning to greet the star.

The store had posted 20 security guards on crowd control for Yoshiki’s visit. When the Mercedes-Benz carrying the star arrived just after noon, fans screamed in excitement, some with tears in their eyes. Yoshiki was accidentally crushed by a group of swarming fans, and sources say he escaped with sprained fingers on his right hand. He was inside just long enough to sign the shop’s poster for the book, but for about three minutes, his presence turned what is normally a quiet book store into a whirlwind of excitement similar to an X Japan concert.

“I’m really happy. We’ve been doing shows here since before our debut, and Kansai is like a second home to me,” he said. When asked about playing concerts in the region, Yoshiki announced, “It’s a definite possibility. Things have already started to move, and if all goes well, it might happen some time this year.” Regarding the location, he commented, “I’d definitely want a stage built that won’t shake.”

Will Kansai fans get to see the “X Jump” on the same scale as Tokyo Dome?!

X Japan leader hopes to perform at Bird's Nest stadium

Monday 15th June, 03:12 AM JST

BEIJING —

The leader of the popular Japanese rock band ‘‘X Japan’’ expressed hope Sunday of performing at the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing soon, following the band’s concerts in Hong Kong in January and Taiwan in May. ‘‘We don’t yet know when, but possibly next year. We will definitely do it,’’ Yoshiki, the drummer of the band, said at a talk event with Chinese fans in Beijing, referring to plans for a concert in the Chinese capital.

The band had been hoping to perform at the stadium, which was the main venue for last year’s Olympic Games, in the fall. But the plan had to be postponed as the facility will be unavailable for the time being due to a series of events to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the country, which was founded Oct 1, 1949. Xing Yi Meng, 20, the leader of a local fan club, said after the talk event, ‘‘I cannot believe the concert has been put off. I wish we could have heard good news.’’
