JK? Digest no 13 of July, 06 <174 of 2006> 9MP and its annual distribution or allocations

Is there a good explanation for this shortchange of RM29 b in 2006?

About the 9MP of RM200 billion plus another RM20 billion of private ventures, and that should work out at RM44 billions a year, but in 2006 only in September 2006 when the Puasa month is to start, the tenders of RM15 billions for 880 projects. So in 2006, there is a shortchange of RM29 billions. How to catch up towards 2020? What is the reason for the shortcoming which has negative impact on the welfare of the people? Is it the Government lack the fund although budgetted? Or is it due to the BIG napoleans in the Government machinery for such long delays?  So in 2006, only little impact would be seen.

A recipe for social disorders?

Greed Standing In The Way Of Fair Wealth Distribution, Says Zam

PORT DICKSON, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin Tuesday said that past development programmes had succeeded in transferring wealth to the Malays but failed to achieve overall wealth distribution.

He said the wealth distribution was intended to create more Malay millionaires but unfortunately had not been the case.

"Unfortunately as normal human beings, some Malays who became millionaires showed symptoms of greed, began to abuse power and engaged in mismanagement, thus crippling the ultimate objective of fair wealth distribution," he said.

Zainuddin said this reporters after attending the launch of the Smart Community Programme here by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Tuesday.

He also said that the people should not become confused by events happening around them so much so that it affected their support towards the government.

He said that the Smart Community Programme could help them understand and share the government's aspirations.

"The government cannot allow the people to be confused by political conflicts. Government officers and all civil servants are responsible to help implement programmes that champion the people's interests.

"The government's task is to give explanations on the concept and the main focus of the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP)," he said, adding that Smart Community Programme was a very good platform for the purpose.

It was similar to the Readers, Listeners and Viewers Group Programme under the Eighth Malaysia Plan, and the earlier Semarak programmes organised by the Information Ministry, he said.

More than 10,000 people gathered at Dataran Seri Kemang to participate in Tuesday's programme.
