Rijkaard said: "The reasons are the same asagainst Lyon: I must choose eleven and I choose the eleven. When heentered he showed a good attitude, in that sense he is improving andphysically he is better."

Spanish Press: Van Basten Rejects Milan And Barcelona Jobs

Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo claims that Netherlands boss Marco van Basten has ruled out taking over at AC Milan or FC Barcelona next summer...

Dutch coach Marco van Basten (pictured) will be out of contract with the Netherlands national side after next summer's Euro 2008  tournament, but it is alleged that the chance to coach Barcelona or AC Milan does not appeal to him.

El Mundo Deportivo claims that both clubs have effectively been told 'thanks, but no thanks' by the former forward as he looks instead at a project closer to home.

It is thought that the former ex-Milan ace is more tempted by a possible role as general manager at his old stomping ground, Ajax, or even an extension through to 2010 in charge of the Oranje.

He is due to meet with KNVB (Dutch FA) representatives next Tuesday with a view to discussing such an eventuality, with family issues thought to be at the heart of his decision.

His children are happy in the Netherlands and are settled at school; this, coupled with no real financial concerns, means that he can thus pick and choose his projects accordingly.

As such, a move to Italy or Catalunya may not be on the cards any time soon.

For all El Mundo's claims, though, van Basten refused to speak publicly on the issue.

He told journalists that he was in Lucerne for the Euro 2008 draw for that reason alone, and not to speculate on his future.

Still, El Mundo claims that Barcelona have made a pseudo-official approach for the manager already, following up one made last summer when Frank Rijkaard toyed with the idea of taking a sabbatical.

With Rijkaard's coat on a shaky nail, van Basten was once again said to be at the head of the queue.

All this said, should the coach's personal circumstances change, then no doubt he would once again be thought "excited" by the prospect of coaching one of the world's biggest clubs.

Cameroon: Eto'o's Face Engraved On 2010 World Cup Poster

Indomitable Lions and FC Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto'o Fils' s face was unveiled, on Friday, November 23, in South Africa by FIFA Boss, Sepp Blatter as the 2010 World Cup poster.

Eto'o's image, as can be seen on the poster about to head a football, is superimposed on the map of Africa. This poster will form the pride and joy of the publicity campaign for the first ever World Cup jamboree in Africa.

Faced with criticisms why Eto'o was used, FIFA President said, "You will have no problem to recognise first of all that it's Africa and you have the face of one of the most popular and well-known faces of the continent,"

"He was not able to participate in the last World Cup but what is more important here is to give this continent a face, a human face in football," he added. It is worth nothing that Eto'o was only 17 when he appeared in the 1998 World Cup tournament in France.

A South African creative agency, Switch, who also created the 2010 FIFA World Cup emblem, designed the poster. It depicts the unique shape of Africa and the shape of a man's profile. Meanwhile, the face represents every single African supporter from Morocco in the north, Gambia in the west, Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia in the east to South Africa in the south.

"The official poster symbolises the important role of football in the history, tradition and culture of the African continent. It's also in recognition of the fact that football has always been an inspiration for a better future and a generator of hope in Africa.

It recognises that Africa has a football face and a football heart,"
explained Danny Jordaan, CEO of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee. The colours of the poster are inspired by the South African flag.

Eto'o gets all-clear to play for Barcelona after injury

MADRID (AFP) - Barcelona's Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o has received the all-clear to resume playing after three months out injured and could return in this Sunday's league match against Deportivo La Corogna, the Catalan club announced.

"Samuel Eto'o received the green light this morning from doctors and can therefore be available to (coach) Frank Rijkaard for the last four matches of 2007," it said on its internet site.

The prolific Cameroon forward, who was the Spanish first division's top scorer two seasons ago, only played in one league game this season before rupturing a tendon in a friendly match with Inter Milan in late August. He resumed team training on November 25.

It was the second long-term injury that the 26-year-old former African Player of the Year has suffered since moving to Barcelona three seasons ago.

Last season, Eto'o was out for four months with a knee injury and some pundits believe his absence was instrumental in Barca having to relinquish the La Liga title they had won for the previous two years.

He was also a goalscorer in Barca's 2-1 win over Arsenal in the 2006 European Champions League final. In Eto'o's absence, Argentine striker Lionel Messi has taken over the role of being Barca's principal goal getter.

Cameroon is among the 16 teams who have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Ghana from January 20 to February 10.

Barcelona said in September it was negotiating with Cameroon football authorities to prevent Eto'o playing in the tournament.

Zambrotta-Milan Links Surface Again Barcelona wing-back Gianluca Zambrotta is looking increasingly likely to move to Milan in January, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The 30-year-old signed for the Spanish giants last summer from Juventus following the Calciopoli crisis.

However Zambrotta抯 wife, Valentina, is said to have become increasingly homesick and is desperate to move back to Italy as soon as possible.
Zambrotta has been steady rather than spectacular during his time at Barca, and it has been reported recently that Barca are lining up a replacement in the form of Sevilla star Daniel Alves or Bayern Munich抯 Philipp Lahm.
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani recently claimed that Zambrotta would not be arriving until the summer at the earliest.
揑f Zambrotta is going to arrive, it will be in July,
