Nur Fatima DID write a song....look at the credits carefully. Nur Fatima co-wrote the melody of IMAGINASI with Audi Mok, as well as lyrics.

"yap yap... aku dah beli album Nikki di tower record. itu pun tinggal satu. apa lagi sepjgn memandu aku pasang lagu Nikki. tapi Mr. Manager aku suker giller lagu CARAMU (Nikki feat. Zahid AF2). aku katakan inilah lagu terbaik dlm album Nikki Maharani selain Pintaku.

Aku suker dgn rap Zahid yang agak lari drp stail zahid... memang best giller. terus aku request lagu tu kat ERA & Radio Muzik. aku bg 4.5 bintang utk my favourite song. CARAMU. tahniah... tahniah bila 2 bintang realiti TV bergabung. Memang class. Rugi saper tak beli dan saper tak dengar. Aku beli pun sebab nak tahu apa uniknya album yang dikatakan "terbaik" dari bintang2 realiti. Jika Nikki mendapat A, Mawi hanya mendapat C saja drp pengulas album di Metro. Jadi aku setuju dgn pemberian markah itu. Memang A lah.... Mr. Manager bila u all nak gabungkan Nikki & Zahid di atas pentas lak???? dengar2 za8fc pun beli album ni sbb ada zahid. Saper untung?"

soul ko dah beli ke album dia??:cak::cak:....psl suara tak tersusun and tak konsisten and off key tu, aku cuba perceive it as nikki using the staccato effect (and maybe vamping, running, and advanced trills) instead of using uber melismata...instead of going for the usual root of vocal powerhouses like celine dion and whitney houston and jaclyn victor that belt and sing in fast and long melismata, nikki instead goes for the staccato technique. tu yg maybe tak smooth and ramai org tak suka. tapi for me i perceive it as a unique singing technique not usually done by malaysian singers. anyway, christina aguilera's classic pop song beautiful was mostly made of off key singing since it was a demo and christina sang so many flats and sharps (tu yg suara dia cam dry and coarse), yet that song won a grammy and was critically acclaimed. ko cubala try to look at nikki singing in this way.

to the general, regarding her pronunciation, first of all, not all of her songs are in her sabahan accent and even if she does pronounce it in that accent, at least her diction is quite clear and not slurring or distorted. plus, i try to see her singing in her sabahan accent as not conforming to the usual singing pronunciation style and singing in bahasa baku which is kindof a good thing for me.

yg perang dan cinta tu pun mula2 aku mmg dah agak dah mesti some ppl will igt ezlynn's hi hi bye bye but for me, its only evident in the beginning....it may seem pop to some ppl but that song seriously reminds me of mary j. bliges famous 1996/1997 RnB hit real love. everything about it. i loved mary's song so this song is incredible and infectious too.

and i do have to say that nikki surprised me singing in superhead voice. she definitely has the agility of a coloratura soprano but aku tak sure whether she's a dramatic coloratura or piccolo coloratura or lyric coloratura (or maybe a spinto soprano actually). mula2 i thought i heard it in caramu but it was so prevalent in aku maharani. NIKKI actually sang in superhead voice! setakat nie, the only other flageolet singers i have heard of yg bukan setakat menyanyi TETAPI boleh enunciate in the flageolet register are mariah carey, minnie riperton, rachell ferell dan debelah morgan. setahu aku, adalah sgt2 rare utk seorg soprano walaupun dapat sing in the flageolet register utk enunciate words in that register. lupa lak, yg dia nyanyi in superhead voice tu part "akula dinamit!" in aku maharani. eventhough the superhead voice is layered behind the main singing/ vocals of "akula dinamit!", tapi im kindof sure she sings an E6 throughout those words. another E6 that i loved was masa dlm lagu caramu during the bridge after the second rapping part of zahid (3.20 mins into caramu), nikki layered several of her singing E6s together to create the same effect mariah did at the end of the song "u make me wanna" with jadakiss when she sang it for 11 seconds.

lagi satu yg buat aku surprise is that nikki actually sang in whistle voice in pinta. and to boot that, her whistle voice was so evident. biasenya bila nikki and idayu sing in the flageolet register, its not a real whistle voice. usually, nikki's high notes r like squeals (just like shanice wilson and christina aguilera's high notes) while idayu's is more of a piccolo quality (like rachell ferrell) or flageolet canary (ataupun senang ckp, kicauan burung) (like mariah bila nyanyi anything above E7). masa part climax tu, 2.50 mins into the song, im pretty sure nikki hits a G6 then goes up a B6 (or B#6) then goes back down to a G6 (soul kalo ko dah dgr the whole song tolong clarify betul ke tak notes yg kena tu). eventhough it only lasted about 6 seconds, for me, it was AMAZING. aku dgn jelas bleh dgr bunyi angin pushing dlm tekak dia. since nikki's taking vocal classes with hazami, and he also made that song, im assuming that he taught her to push all that air behind her velum palate and all the way up into her sinus cavities. seriously aku teruja dgr whistle voice betul nikki. even idayu pun blum display this ability (tapi aku xnk compare them and start a who's better war sbb both r my favorites).

besides all of these, aku prasan nikki can sing, i think an F5 in chest voice....pretty high singing in chest voice sedangkan biasenya in the 5th octave org dah start switching to head voice bila nyanyi. bleh tahan tu. almost rivals mariah's G5 and christina's G5 in chest voice (eventhough patti labelle is said to be able to sing a C6 in chest voice (tapi org kata dia guna mix voice - head and chest).

one thing aku tak puas psl album nikki nie, there wasnt one song that incorporated at least a section of one prevailing BELTING with VIBRATO. sedih betol aku sbb she could have moved ppl's emotions with her powerful and heavy vibrato (and i know she has one, masa dia nyanyi one moment in time [first workshop] dan emotions masa finale). she could have make up her lack of emotions (since ppl say dia x exert emotion bila nyanyi) with her powerful belting and vibrato like jac but there wasnt any and kalo ada pun, the belting was pretty short and usually layered behind the songs. yg aku rasa belting yg "agak" puas dgr pun is in imaginasi masa the last chorus and aku maharani masa the second chorus (part ni aku tak sure dia belt an E5 or F5).

overall this album is top notch eventhough cam basi je aku baru nk tulis (tapi aku bukan buat review pun, saja nk enlighten soul...kekekekek...:bgrin::bgrin::bgrin walaupun sbnrnya aku dah beli since the 2nd day it came out since i couldnt get it on the first day.

ps...sayangidaku kalo ko nk carik this album in the middle of kl, go to cm directly dan dlm cm tu kan ada dua kedai CD/muzik kepunyaan org cina rite?...one is upstairs and the other is downstairs. go to the one downstairs yg menghadap one of the entrance of cm.

aku nak tambah sesuatu kt perenggan ke-7. another song that has nikki belting powerfully is in julangan permata part klimaks tu [3.29 mins into the song]. tapi there was no vibrato in that part of the song so cam kureng skit ah but the note she was belting is pretty high...im pinpointing an E5 here?? but then lepas part ni, aku dgr betul2 and i almost missed this part - 3.41 mins into julangan pertama, nikki goes up an octave from the word before teman and extends the syllable of "man" into several syllables in "teman" producing a vibrato along the way (and belting the vibrato in E5 again i think??). it was like jac's vibrato eventhough it was kindof short. short but moving. sapa dgr lagu nie, dgrla that part betul2. she showed some signs of emotion singing julangan permata in that part.

pastu aku nk tambah dlm perenggan pertama, nikki doesnt only use the staccato effect to sound weird but im assuming that she has a natural thick and raw voice and used the vocal slide type of technique to jump octaves several times in one word/ several words/ phrases or syllables (mariah carey has done this so many times except maybe nikki does it too frequently in her first album nie). when she normally sings (in chest voice), she doesnt raise her larynx and/ or velum palate (often) which makes her sound kindof flat and monotonous. aku rasa yg dia nyanyi mcm monotonous2 nie sbb dia xnk raise velum palate dia. going to siti chairani's and hazami's classes, i guess they taught her also how to refine her raw voice thus, bila refinekan suara raw dia utk jd more smooth and easy to glide through, jd mcm suara org lain. another thing aku rasa timbre dia mmg naturally raw and thick but not creamy like whitney houston or christina aguilera thus, the suara cam teruk skit tu. tapi aku cuba appreciate all of these unique traits that distinguish her from the rest. besides, bjork sings in a way much weirder manner but she's hot and her songs are critically acclaimed (tp mmg bestpun lagu2 bjork tu).

sayangidaku, nanti kalo ko beli album dia, take ur time to grasp her album. masa aku mula2 beli album dia akupun cam shocked, flabbergasted and i felt weird and a bit disappointed. tapi after listening to the whole album 5 times and trying to appreciate all the distinctive vocal qualities of nikki, aku dpt terima her album and songs. sampai skang aku mainkan album dia non stop.

jgn pulak expect her to do any melismata and belting yg outstanding cam jac and try to overlook the emotionless quality of some of nikki's songs. aku rasa bila dia nyanyi lagu2 happy, aku nampak emotion happy dan marah, tapi when she sings ballads, i guess she kindof fails to deliver emotions like celine dion. for me, its fine bcoz even mariah seterer2 manapun, ppl criticize her for failing to deliver emotions in some of her songs (especially ballads but of course mariah makes up for these shortcomings with other things).

bila ko dgr lagu aku maharani, try to perceive nikki as actually singing in bahasa baku. for me la, hearing nikki singing in her sabahan accent (or as i said mcm baku or maybe indon speaking voice) was actually pleasant. and jgn plak terlalu overexcited and mengharapkan that this album will blow u away instantly. take ur time. karang plak nanti ko marah aku ckp x best tp aku tulis best and ko terpengaruh dgn aku punya essay yg cam panjang nie. aku cuma explain psl the vocal and tonal qualities of nikki that can be brougt forward here in this forum sbb some ppl ckp she sounds horrendous and aku cuma nk justify those things.

nanti bila ko dah beli, tarik nafas dulula and give it a go for at least 5 times. then try to appreciate all the positive aspects of this album and her tonal and vocal qualities. nanti lps ko dah dgr album nie, citer plak kt aku how was it at first listen and after grasping the whole album. k.....

thanx tp kena igt aku nie pun bukannya expert sgt. aku cuma minat dan byk membaca dlm forum2 muzik and vocal dan artikel2 dlm medical journal psl the human voice dan byk tanya kt forum psl vocal and muzik nie...ko pun bleh gak blaja...there are lots of places kat internet ni to understand about the science of the human voice. just look around. try sites like dutchdivas.net to understand about the human voice and singing. tp untuk understand the human voice btol2 of course kena carik guru vokal betul dan doktor yg pakar abt the larynx.

like what ramli ms said in one of his articles recently in bintang popular yg hari ahad tu....lebih kurangla, he said even if u sucked at singing, u can be better than an established singer if u have the knowledge of music and all this crap....so bg akula, kalo alang2 dah minat singers like mariah, xtina, nikki, idayu, jac, celine, etc automatically kite akan teruja dgn cara diorg nyanyi and itu yg membuatkan aku nak find out apa yg diorg apply and practice masa nyanyi tu. contohnya, sblm ni aku tak tau yg vibrato (getaran) tu disebabkan the undulation and modulation of the vocal folds tp skang aku dh tau lpas baca kt internet and vibrato is actually done in opera to achieve a professional feel to the voice. kalo ko tak tau wat vibrato is, celine dion is one of the best exponents of this technique contohnya, dlm lagu the power of love dan all by myself...aku rasa semuorg dh tau which part ada benda nie in her songs. and baru2 nie aku baca yg vibrato sebenarnya x elok sgt sbb dia cam apply fast air pressure to the vocal folds and somehow can cause vocal nodules if not done properly. tak taula aku...patutla org komen suara celine dion, mariah dan whitney dah x sama mcm dulu. so in the end aku rasa semuorg bleh tau a little bit abt singing and stuff related to it if they try finding and reading on the internet (of course tgk source yg reliable la)....internet nie kan selain tempat yg x elok, ia juga adalah tempat mecari ilmu...so gd luck.

yup...aku minat penyanyi pon lebih kpd vokal diorang...teknik yg digunakan(even tak tau nama teknik tu apa), n tone sore diorang. selain dpd lagu2 diorang yg bestla...
psl sore xtina dlm lagu beautiful tu... aku dgr ziana try sore cmtu dlm lagu 'bukan' & 'melara jiwa' baru2 ni...
apa nama teknik tu? mmg tak baper berkenan dgn sore cmtu, tp aku respek gakla sbb at least penyanyi ni tau mempelbagaikan teknik nyanyian diorang.
tp psl vokal nikki tu... aku takla meluat dgn teknik sore or tone sore dia... cuma part 'lenggok' tu aje tak smooth.
aku pon xtau cmner nak explain... tp aku dgr nyanyian dia agak mendatar. aku rasa takde kaitan sgt dgn teknik vokal or tone sore dia. dia kene praktis lenggok tu dgn try bwk lagu asli/tradisional melayu yg kebanyakannya mempunyai lenggok yg agak kompleks n susah nak dibuat. bukan soh dia nyanyi lgu asli, tp bila dh biasa buat lenggok cmtu, nnti senang nak buat lenggok lagu dr genre lain.. termasuk r&b. dia buat lenggok r&b, termasuk part adlib pon kedgran 'keras' semacam. aku dgr ni masa dia nyanyi lgu emotion n lara dulu.
tp lagu dlm album dia ni aku pasan tak byk lgu cmtu...so mybe mmg sesuaila dgn vokal dia.

setelah mendengar ulasan panjang lebar dari irving, macam bersalah plak rasanyer.. sebab baru dengar 2 kali album dier dan rasa memang tak best.. dari segi lagu memang best.. dan tak dinafikan sekali lagi memang masuk dalam halwa telinga i nie.. tapi tang vokal dier yang i tak puas hati..

tak per, balik ofis ni i cuba listen balik.. then baru buat penilaian.. tapi balik ni rasa nyer nak dengar album kasih dayang lagi lah...

nanti kalau i dengar banyak kali, tak gak leh terima tak tahulah.. memang rasa rugi betullah rm29.90 tue..
