GAZETCHIK / PROTECTION AGAINST ANTIRADAR MISSILES


Intended to protect friendly radars against antiradar missiles (ARM) by a sort-time interruption of their emissions on command from a stand-alone ARM detector, by using distraction devices and by jamming ARMs fitted with IR, TV and radar homing heads.

The Gazetchik equipment comprises the following components:
- autonomous ARM detector;
- distraction devices operating in the frequency band of the radar to be protected;
- aerosol and chaff dispensers;
- interface with radars under protection.

The protection equipment is available in several versions, operates in an automatic mode and is supplied with power from the protected radar.

hard kill hardware against missiles is cost prohibitive and may not be as mobile.

only question is, how effective is this system? has it been proven in trials or actual wars?

The problem is that the latest generation of missiles like the AGM-88E harm has the sensors to pursue a target almost to the ends of the earth. It's got milimetre-wave radar, IR guide, anti-radiation, home on jam, and i think inertial (and maybe GPS) as well.
Certainly will be able to home on the target radar. The only way this system can protect the radar is to draw the HARM's fire.
Or, use hard-kill.
