Tanushree is enjoying her new found fitness
IndiaGlitz [Monday, May 07, 2007]

Tanushree is surely creating ripples in Bollywood with 3 back to back releases starting with Subhash Ghai's GOOD BOY BAD BOY,  Raj Kanwar's RAQEEB and Priyadarshan's DHOL.

Since she has finished off her shooting schedule for the above mentioned films, Tanushree has now taken on the fitness zone with a vengeance. Earlier due to her erratic schedules with shoots, Tanushree could not work out regularly.

Now whenever she gets the opportunity, Tanushree takes on the treadmill to do her cardio. Even her trainer seemed amazed with the work that she was putting in. Even though her friends tease her that with the amount of traveling she does to promote the film, she doesn't have to exercise, Tanushree seems to be enjoying the fitness regime, and makes it a point to exercise.

And gauging by the calories she has lost so far, the Bengali bombshell beauty is all set to set everyone's heart flutter with her svelte figure.

Ashutosh Rana returns with a Bhatt film
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Monday, May 07, 2007]

Years back when Ashutosh Rana made a smashing debut as a villain with Mukesh Bhatt produced and Tanuja Chandra directed DUSHMAN, he was being touted as the next best thing to have happened after Gabbar Singh.

He was mean, he was heartless and he was scheming and if only he would have played his cards well, he could have been in an enviable position today in the world of Bollywood. Sadly, after almost 10 years since his debut, he is still being remembered most only for his work in Bhatt films like RAAZ or KALYUG.

He may have done a couple of dozen more films but somehow he hasn't got the kind of success and achievement that an actor of his caliber deserves.

All of this should certainly happen with the release of AWARAPAN where Ashutosh Rana is returning in an author backed role. Directed by Mohit Suri, who has an undefeated record of three successes in a row, ZEHER, KALYUG and WOH LAMHE, AWARAPAN is the costliest film ever coming from the house of Bhatts who have shelled out not less than 18 crores in their mega venture.

In the film, Ashutosh Rana plays the boss of central protagonist of the film, Emraan Hashmi, who is required to keep an eye on the woman Rana loves.

The film stars Shreya Saran and Mrinalini Sharma as the two lead heroines along with Rehan Khan, who made his debut with JAANA - LET'S FALL IN LOVE last year. Pritam has given the music while Sayeed Quadri writes. The film is being distributed overseas by STUDIO 18.

"I made wrong choices" - Govinda
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Monday, May 07, 2007]

Govinda, the original 'King of Comedy', has made a successful comeback to Bollywood, first with BHAGAM BHAG and later SALAAM E ISHQ. The industry has whole heartedly welcomed one of the most natural actors in Bollywood with open arms.

Govinda is thankful to the industry for accepting him after a prolonged absence due to his other political commitments.

The industry also acknowledges that Govinda was at the forefront in bringing comedy to the mainstream films and since his arrival the genre has been doing so well at the Box Office. Hence it but natural for Govinda to be back again.

Even recently at a recent comedy award function, Shahrukh Khan acknowledged that comedy was one of the most difficult things to do. He added that Govinda was the 'King of Comedy' and he enjoyed watching his films.

Though being an MP, Govinda is still humility personified and in all honesty says, "I am thankful to the industry which has accepted me whole heartedly. Though there was a break in my career, I understood that my natural calling is Bollywood. I was getting restless to get back where I belonged. I am open to different kind of roles that will help me grow as an actor."

He adds, "Though most of my films did well earlier, I admit I didn't make some right choices later. But right now I would like to do good quality roles that will challenge me as an actor and help me grow. Bollywood has changed so much and so many different roles are being written. I want to explore new roles and challenges."

The latest buzz is that Govinda has been inundated with offers. Even national award winning director Aparna Sen is scripting a tailor made role for Govinda in realistic cinema.

This is not surprising though because Govinda is acknowledged in the industry as the most natural actor to grace Bollywood.

Does one almost sense the Govinda Mania sweeping again?

Pooja Bedi's sizzling moves on 'angaar'
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, May 08, 2007]

For all those who drooled over Pooja Bedi in JO JEETA WAHI SIKANDAR and have not been able to keep their eye away from the screens whenever she has appearsed on the small screen for a talk show on a life style/entertainment channel, there is some good news!

She can now be seen doing Salsa for a music video that has just arrived on the small screen. Remixed by DJ Notorious, a relatively new entrant in the world of DJ mixes, the tune to which Pooja dances is none other than ever-popular 'Angaar Theme' that has become a cult classic ever since it was heard first in the early 90s.

The theme music belongs to Shahilal Nair directed ANGAAR which starred Jackie Shroff and had used a flute as its base instrument. Ever since then the theme music has been kept alive in pubs, discs and live concerts but it is only now that an entire music video has been created on the tune.

Now with Pooja at her sizzling best while demonstrating her Salsa skills with a much younger partner and a well directed video to boost, it is rest assured that 'Angaar theme' would continue to live on!

After HUMRAAZ, Bobby & Akshaye back with NAQAB
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, May 08, 2007]

Both Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna enjoyed a big hit when they came together for HUMRAAZ 5 years back. The film was directed by masters of suspense and thrills Abbas-Mustan.

Now the two would indeed be hoping that the history is repeated in their upcoming film NAQAB where they reunite with Abbas Mustan. A thriller, the film is also special for the director duo since they would be having a release to their name after some time since 36 CHINA TOWN. Though the film was a hit, it didn't have that edgy feel which most Abbas Mustan films boast of.

A TIPS production, the film marks the launch pad of newcomer Urvashi Sharma as a lead heroine. The film also stars Vikas Kalantri and has music by Pritam.

After LMKK, composer Lalit's next solo project is...
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, May 08, 2007]

FANAA was the last big film where Jatin and Lalit came together as co-composers. The music turned out to be a big hit and was a fitting swan song for one of the most successful musical-pairs since the early 90s.

A little later their music was heard in much delayed and a forgettable MERA DIL LEKE DEKHO as well which completely went unnoticed. Jatin and Lalit had split by then and the latter came up with the first strike when he went ahead and signed BABA Films' LIFE MEIN KABHIE KABHIEE.

Unfortunately both the movie and the music were greeted with a cold response by the audience and it seemed that it would be quite some time before one would be able to hear some music from Jatin and Lalit.

Well, the wait may be over earlier than anticipated as Lalit Pandit has been signed for a film called ISHAAN. The film marks the production debut of MOSER BAER who have brought a revolution of sorts in the recent months by launching low priced DVDs and VCDs.

Directed by Anthony D' Souza, the film stars Shreyas Talpade in the title role and boasts of a sensitive subject and treatment. Sayeed Quadri has been roped in for writing the lyrics while Lalit has been entrusted the responsibility of spinning the tunes.

Vivek Oberoi - The next gangster in B-town?
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, May 10, 2007]

Sanjay Dutt has forever been known as an actor who, at almost every instance, has come up with a knockout performance as a gangster. It seems from the newer generation, Vivek Oberoi is soon going to step up the pedestal, what with him appearing in a hat-trick of gangster movies ever since his debut.

As an underworld don 'Chandu' in 'Company', he earned accolades for his sincere performance. Vivek literally got into the skin of the character of the gangster. And the portrayal of the same bespoke of his commitment & integrity to his craft.

Vivek next played a gangster character as 'Kesu Firangi' in 'Omkara'. And though the character was placed in the bad lands of UP, Vivek displayed different nuances of the character as a 'Gangster'. He was critically appreciated again in 'Omkara'.

Vivek will now be seen portraying the role of the dreaded gangster 'Maya Dolas' in 'Shootout at Lokhandwala'. He plays the antagonist opposite the protagonist Sanjay Dutt in the real life 'Encounter' drama that rocked the Nation!

Just like Mr. Bachchan, who was known as the 'Angry Young Man' & SRK as the 'Eternal Lover Boy', Vivek Oberoi seems to be the best star actor to portray the 'Gangster' roles.

Vivek Oberoi method acting helps him understand the different psychological traits of gangsters in film right from Company, Omkara & the soon to be released 'Shoot out at Lokhandwala'.  In every gangster role, Vivek has realistically portrayed different dimensions to the character. He literally lives the character.

According to sources his portrayal of the dreaded don Maya Dolas is a step above 'Company'. He also portrays the human aspect of 'Maya Dolas' besides his obsession to work- whether that meant extortion or murder. Maya Dolas was unlike the stereotype goon. He was an obsessive workaholic in crime!

Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Thursday, May 10, 2007]

Amitabh Bachchan was recently heard as a narrator in the documentary film MARCH OF THE PENGUINS.

The film which got released in India a few weeks back sunk without a trace since it arrived with nil publicity and hype. There was no effort made to make audience aware about this project and it didn't come as a surprise when the film was discontinued all over in one week flat.

The film follows the annual journey that penguins and their mates endure to bring a newborn penguin into the world.

A masterpiece that has got accolades world over ever since it was first released in mid-2005, MARCH OF THE PENGUINS is a Luc Jacquet film and has won an Oscar amongst many other international awards.
