Masahiro Matsuoka to star in "Ten to Chi to"

For the new year, TV Asahi will broadcast a drama special titled "Ten to Chi to." Also known as "Heaven and Earth," the story has previously been turned into a taiga drama and a film.
TOKIO's Masahiro Matsuoka will star as Uesugi Kenshin. This is his first time playing the lead in a jidaigeki drama.
 
The rest of the main cast includes Atsuro Watabe as Takeda Shingen, Yoshino Kimura as Nami, Tsunehiko Watase as Usami Sadayuki, and Kinya Kitaoji as Bishamonten.
The exact broadcast date has not yet been decided.

Ami Suzuki to star in 'Oishii Ginza' adaptation

Singer and actress Ami Suzuki will star in a TV Asahi drama special titled "Oishii Depachika," it was announced on Wednesday. This is only her second lead role in a drama, with the first being NHK's "Fukaku Mogure" in 2000.
The drama is based on the manga "Oishii Ginza" by Ikuko Sakagawa, which has been serialized in Office YOU since August 2001. The story is set in a Ginza "depachika" - a term referring to the food section of a department store, located in the basement - where Suzuki plays a seller struggling to keep her place in the store.
Kazuhiko Nishimura plays a manager at the department store, and Mansaku Fuwa plays a pig farm owner.
TV Asahi has also announced a promotional tie-in with its shopping site, which will sell two original dishes that appear in the drama after the show is broadcast. "Oishii Depachika" airs on January 4 at 11:30pm.

ASADORA (MORNING DORAMA)
ManaKana to star in 79th Asadora

NHK has announced that its 79th Asadora is titled "Dandan," starring twin celebrities ManaKana. They previously appeared together in the 1996-1997 series "Futarikko," playing the young versions of the two female leads. This will be the first time that an actress has played an Asadora heroine twice.
The drama is written by Kyoko Moriwaki. The two women portray sisters separated at birth, unaware that the other exists. Mana plays a high schooler in the Shimane Prefecture who loves to sing, while Kana plays an apprentice geisha in Kyoto. One day, they meet again at the Izumo Taisha, and they eventually decide to become a singing duo.
"Dandan" will start at the end of September 2008.

Yasuko Sawaguchi stars in Seicho Matsumoto adaptation

TBS will broadcast a drama adaptation of Seicho Matsumoto's novel "Nurareta Hon" on December 17 at 9:00pm. Many of Matsumoto's other works have been adapted to drama or film, but this is the first time for "Nurareta Hon."
Yasuko Sawaguchi stars as the manager of a small publishing firm struggling to strike a deal for a manuscript from a popular author. However, she soon runs into a series of troubles, including being suspected by the police for the mysterious death of her lover, and as a result she turns to more desperate measures.
Other cast members include Masanobu Katsumura, Mitsuru Fukikoshi, Mayuko Iwasa, Takehiko Ono, and Hirotaro Honda.

"roposal Daisakusen" SP announced for spring

The popular Fuji TV drama series "roposal Daisakusen," which aired this past spring, is getting a special episode. Starring NEWS' Tomohisa Yama$hita and Masami Nagasawa, the episode will take place after the original series.
According to the network, the ambiguous ending led to thousands of phone calls and e-mails from viewers, asking about the rest of the story and whether a continuation was planned.
 
As a result, a two-hour special is in the works. Filming begins in late January and will include scenes in Hawaii. Producer Madoka Takiyama says that the story will start there, with the friends Tsuru (Gaku Hamada) and Eri (Nana Eikura) holding their wedding ceremony.
  
Yuta Hiraoka, Naohito Fujiki, and Hiroshi Mikami will return for the special, which is scheduled to air this coming spring.
