Photos are precious memories that might seem impossible to get back once deleted. However, with the right tool, it is as easy as performing a few basic steps. The most common assumption with a deleted photo on your Mac is that it is gone. In reality, the operating system only removes the location of the photo from the address table. This means that the images are still recoverable as long as they have not been overwritten on the physical hard drive. Your operating system simply does not know where to look in order to find them.

We can go into the folder and undelete the picture using this built-in software feature. This will also work for videos if we delete them and then decide that we want to recover them.

Open the Photos app on your Mac.
Go to the Recently Deleted folder on the left-hand side.photos app onmac
Once inside the folder, we can view the pictures that are still retrievable and we can see the days remaining left that we have to recover them. Normally, we have around 30 days to recover them if we change our mind but sometimes it can take up to 40 days so there should be plenty of time if we delete something and then decide that we want to put it back into our All Photos View.viewing recently deleted photos
Select the recently deleted photos that you want to recover and click on them. Then, click on the Recover button to put them back into your photo library.recovering recently deleted photos
You can delete photos from the Recently Deleted view as well if you know for sure you don’t want them or you’re looking to free up space on your Mac and don’t want to wait 30 days.
