Nissan has officially unveiled the 2014 Qashqai.
Set to go on sale in January, the redesigned crossover has an upscale appearance with LED-infused headlights, a clamshell-style hood and a distinctive greenhouse. The model also has a sloping roofline, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and an Active Grille Shutter - on diesel models with manual transmissions - that automatically closes at speeds above 30 km/h (18 mph).
The upscale styling continues in the cabin as it boasts higher quality materials and an improved design. Notable highlights include gloss black trim, metallic accents and 'zero-gravity' seats that promise to offer more comfort and support. There's also a larger boot and a new NissanConnect infotainment system that has a seven-inch touchscreen display and internet connectivity.
Under the hood, four different engines are available including:

• A 1.2-liter DIG-T with 115 HP (85 kW) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque
• A 1.6-liter DIG-T with 150 HP (110 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque
• A 1.5-liter dCi with 110 HP (81 kW)
• A 1.6-liter dCi with 130 HP (96 kW)
  

The engines are connected to manual transmissions and a front-wheel drive system but an Xtronic continuously variable transmission and ALL-MODE 4x4-i system is optional.
The 2014 Qashqai rides on Renault-Nissan's new CMF (Common Module Family) platform and weighs as much as 40 kg (88.1 lbs) less than its predecessor. The model also has an improved suspension and a new Electronic Power Assisted Steering system that promises to deliver a "more natural driving experience."
