GST In Malaysia Explained
In Malaysia’s Budget 2014 speech, the implementation of Goods and Service Tax (GST) was perhaps the hottest topic. To be introduced in April 2015, it will replace Malaysia’s Sales tax (10%) and Service tax (6%). Under GST, most of the goods and services (except basic necessities) will be charged a tax rate of 6% at every stage of the supply chain. The question now on everyone’s mind – How will life be after GST?
To identify the most likely effects, we must first understand the different implementations of GST and their mechanisms.

Types of GST
There will be three different categories of goods & services under the GST scheme in Malaysia. They are:

I. Standard-Rated GST
Goods and services in this category will be charged a tax rate of 6% at every stage of the supply chain. The tax is billed and collected by businesses and paid to the government. Every party except the final consumer can claim back credits on the GST they already paid (known as input tax). Examples of the goods in this category are cloth, car and fruits. The following diagram shows how Standard-Rated GST works:

II.Zero-Rated GST
Goods and services in this category will be charged a GST rate of 0%. This means that GST is not charged to the final consumer. But businesses CAN claim back credits on their input tax. Examples of goods in this category are basic food item (meats, fish and cooking oil) and first 200 unit of electricity per month. The following diagram shows how zero-rated GST works, assuming the final product is zero-rated but the raw materials are standard rated:

III.Exempt-Rated GST
Goods and services that fall in this category will be non-taxable and are not subject to GST at the output stage. This means that GST is not charged to the final consumer. But it also means that businesses, particularly the final party in the supply chain (before the final consumer) CANNOT claim back credits on their input tax even if they might have incurred it earlier on. Examples of goods in this category are residential property and health care services. The following diagram will give a clearer picture on how Exempt-Rated GST works:
Conclusion
GST is a progressive tax regime that will supplant the Sales Tax and Service Tax in Malaysia in the near future. Understanding its mechanisms will help us to better gauge its potential impact on our lives and prepare for it. Finally, if you would like to know GST’s potential impact on house property prices and home loans, look no further than Loanstreet’s explanation of how GST will impact property prices.

Maaf TT saya nak tumpang tanya sebab ramai jiran-jiran yang tanya pasal GST ni..

Kalau ikut ayat di atas, Pekilang dan pemborong boleh "claim back credit onon the GST". apa mekanisma untuk klaim semula tu ya? Dapat less cukai ke atau rebate?

Tp tulah kalaui ikut diagram di atas tu, pekilang dan pemborong bayar sikit je cukai, tp kita pembeli akhir ni banyak la plk kena bayar..pohon tunjuk ajar ya TT..

I. Standard-Rated GST
"Goods and services in this category will be charged a tax rate of 6% at ever ...

saya cuba terangkan...cuba tengok rantaian kutipan 6% dari supplier, manufacturer, wholesaler dan retailer dibawah yg kenakan bayaran termasuk boleh claim balik 6% GST yg mereka dah bayar..dan berapa cukai GST akhirnya sampai ke kantung gomen..bukan kah gomen akhirnya kutip hanya rm1.86sen sahaja.

Opkos....pelanggan kena bayar rm132.50 sekiranya dia mahu beli barang tersebut..

Computation of GST at all levels of the supply chain for standard rated supply :

     Level of suppy                                       sales price ( including GST at 6%  )                                  Payment to the Goverment
Level of supply
Sales price (including GST at 6%)
Payment to Government
Raw material supplier
Sales price = RM50.00
GST = RM3.00
Total sales price = RM53.00
GST collection = RM3.00
Less: GST paid =RM0.00
GST payable = RM3.00
Manufacturer
Sales price = RM100.00
GST = RM6.00
Total sales price = RM106.00
GST collection = RM6.00
Less: GST paid =RM3.00
GST payable = RM3.00
Wholesaler
Sales price = RM125.00
GST = RM7.50
Total sales price = RM132.50
GST collection = RM7.50
Less: GST paid =RM6.00
GST payable = RM1.50
Retailer
Sales price = RM156.00
GST = RM9.36
Total sales price = RM165.36
GST collection = RM9.36
Less: GST paid =RM7.50
GST payable = RM1.86

terpulang pada barangnya...

kalau zero rated...tak dikenakan cukai gst...gomen tak dapat apa2 cukai.

Computation of GST on zero rated supply :
Level of supply
Sales price(including GST at 6%)
Payment to Government
Wholesaler
Sales price = RM100.00
GST = RM0.00
Total sales price = RM100.00
GST collection = RM0.00
Less: GST paid =RM0.00
GST payable = RM0.00
Retailer
Sales price = RM125.00
GST = RM0.00
Total sales price = RM125.00
GST collection = RM0.00
Less: GST paid =RM0.00
GST payable = RM0.00

ni yg dikenakan exempted plak.

Computation of GST on exempt supply :
Level of supply
Sales price(including GST at 6%)
Payment to Government
Raw material supplier
Sales price = RM50.00
GST = RM3.00
Total sales price = RM53.00
GST collection = RM3.00
Less: GST paid =RM0.00
GST payable = RM3.00
Manufacturer
Sales price = RM100.00
GST = RM6.00
Total sales price = RM106.00
GST collection = RM6.00
Less: GST paid =RM3.00
GST payable = RM3.00
Service provider
Sales price = RM129.00
GST = RM0.00
Total sales price = RM129.00
GST collection = RM0.00
Less: GST paid =RM0.00
GST payable = RM0.00

Aku xphm, klau gomen dpt untung kecik, knapa nk imply mende ni? Kn mcm agk susahkn rkyat? Mcm ada udang di sebalik mee. Mcm x pcaya kerajaan yg tamak haloba lg2 rosmah tu tiba2 jd baik dhn ambil sikit je duit n rkyat byk byar..?

Tp bg aku xsesuai sgt buat gst, sb tgga gaji kt mlaysia terlalu rendah. Hrga brg pulak tlampau mhal. Org2 yg duk oversea pastu pulang mlaysia pon ckp mende yg sama.

Cdgn aku apa kata kerajaan kukuhkn matawang mlaysia n bg xde gejalan rasuah dlm klangn pmimpin besar, bru pk nk buat gst.

Cth kata la ek, kita hrap gst ni boleh mnyumbangkn kpd free healthcare, free education, tp mcm mana klau mende ni dah dijlankn tp habuk pin x nmpk? Mmg la cai2 boleh ckp klau x buat mcm mana nk tau? Tp mnurut sjarah2 sbelum ni geng2 amno mmg perompak, aku rasa xsggup nk take the risk

Bagi macai yg dia paham... gst harga barang akan turun, kalu sebelum nih cukai 12%, sekarang 6% jah..... kalu harga paip sebelum nih rm24, lepas nih jadi rm20...jap aku nak gelak guling2...kah...kah...kah....

Cukai gst dijangka membawa pulangan beratus juta kepada kerajaan.... untung tak kerajaan dapat duit gst dari pemerintah yg korupt, rasuah, salahguna kuasa dan boros tatkala ekonomi rakyat sedang makin tersepit......?

pasal tu berulang2 kali kita dah terangkan dlm thread gst yg lain tu...sistem SST yg kita amalkan sekarang...gomen tak kutip apa2 cukai pun dari para peniaga tu semua..semua mereka kaut, cukai yg dikenakan pada ko tu mereka kaut...malah satu sen pun ada kalanya gomen tak dapat pun..pada hal ko sebagai pengguna miskin ke sederhana ke kaya ke...ko kena bayar gak cukai tu..malah ada barang yg ko beli melalui sistem SST sekarang ni..ada sampai 16%.

Sebab tu cukai GST 6% ni efisen..disamping ada barang yg turun, ada barang yg akan naik sikit...gomen plak dapat kutip cukainya utk bayar gaji staff gomen misalannya...naik taraf jalan misalannya...kasi bekalan letrik, air kat kg2 yg belum ada letrik macam kat Sabah dan Sarawak nun...kasi naikkan eluan OKU, ibu2 tunggal dsbnya ke.

Atau..kalau ko miskin pendapatan bawah rm3000..gomen naikkan BRIM jadi RM1200 ke...sebab masa tu gomen dah ada duit utk bayar ko.

ada faham ka Bacha?..tarak faham jugak...amik tali...letak kat leher...terjun masuk lombonglah.....suka menyusahkan org..
