On January 1, traditional 2018 New Year ceremony was held at the Imperial Palace. Emperor Akihito, Empress Michiko, Crown Prince Naruhito, Prince Akishino, Princess Kiko, Princess Mako and other members of the imperial family attended the New Year ceremony. In addition to that, on January 1, The Imperial Household Agency released new official photos of Japanese imperial family as in the beginning of every year.

On January 2, 2018, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, Crown Prince Naruhito, Crown Princess Masako, Prince Akishino, Princess Kiko, Princess Mako and other royal family members congratulated New Year of the crowd that gathered at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. More than 20.000 people gathered in front of the palace and government officials says that more than 60.000 people visited the palace in the first 4 hours in Tuesday morning.

On January 10, 2018, Japanese Emperor Akihito, Empress Michiko, Crown Prince Naruhito, Crown Princess Masako, Prince Akishino, Princess Kiko, Princess Mako, Princess Nobuko, Princess Akiko, Princess Yoko, Princess Hisako, Princess Tsuguko and Princess Ayako attended the ceremony of the Kousho Hajime held at Imperial Palace. The Ceremony of the Kousho Hajime (Imperial New Year's Lectures) takes place every January at the Imperial Palace in the presence of the Emperor and Empress. Crown Princess Masako attended for the first time in 15 years.

On January 13, 2018, Emperor Akihito of Japan and Empress Michiko of Japan visited "90th Year of Kinderbook" exhibition held at Tokyo's Printing Museum in Bunkyo Ward.

Btw, princess mako tu dh hilang kan royal status beliau. Tapi nape ade lg ek dlm official event? Ke ade sesetengah privileges je yg beliau x dpt?

Princess Mako and her commoner fiance Kei Komuro have postponed their highly anticipated  wedding until at least 2020, saying they were not yet ready for marriage.

On 23rd February, Crown Prince Naruhito turned 58 years old. The Imperial Household Agency released new photos on the occasion of 58th birthday of Crown Prince Naruhito with his family. Crown Prince Naruhito vowed to "pursue self-improvement" ahead of his accession to the Chrysanthemum throne on May 1, 2019.

On June 23, Prince and Princess Akishino, Princess Kako, Princess Mako and Prince Hisahito attended Indonesia folk music concert held at Tokyo Concert Hall on the occasion of 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Republic of Indonesia.

Japan's Princess Mako, the eldest granddaughter of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, arrived in Brazil for the ceremonies to mark the 110th anniversary of the first waves of Japanese immigration to Brazil.

On July 21, 2018, Japan’s Princess Mako has arrived arrived in Sao Paulo as part of her two-week visit to Brazil to celebrate 110 years of the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to Latin America’s biggest country. An estimated 1.9 million Japanese or their descendants live in Brazil, most of them in Sao Paulo, South America’s largest city. Princess Mako of Japan visited the 21st Japan Festival, a three-day event showcasing Japanese cuisine, culture and products.
