Concur 100% on the value of experience gained whilst studying abroad. With diversity found in every aspect of life, much can be learn. As JPA's scholar, I noticed students under Telekom and Petronas always performed well in their studies. Much of it because of the guidelines set by their sponsors. Tak score, kang kena tarik balik. Not to say JPA and MARA didn't do well up to expectations, well what can u expect. Cream of the crop dan joined Telekom & Petronas. Still kebanyakan student tajaan yang ke obersea nie, their mindset although sometimes terganggu gak nak gi jalan, shopping etc, tapi I believe they understand their responsible as a student, which is to study. |

pelik la...why people make handphone as a big issue for overseas student?..i dont blame them; for they not knowing how does the system works in uk..
its a free phone people!!!!!!
eventhough its a nokia 9300...its free!!
given a choice....nokia 3310 or 9300...hmmm????

Agreed with mr_bertz. Yah .. even here in australia, they'll provide phone for free as long as we stick to their plans for 1-2 years time. And honestly, i dont know why you guyz are being pathetic by using handphone as a measuring stick.
On the other hand,it's true that some of overseas students (under scholarship) din do well in their studies. It's also true that some of them used their monthly or even their book allowance on other things like getting ipod, laptop etc. I am a sponsored student myself, and honestly, the scholarship money is far from enough to get all those things!! Talking about ipod/laptop, i can barely buy my textbooks using the book allowance!! and not to mention that the book allowance is far from enough considering the cost for 1 book itself is more than 100 dollar (1 sem = 6 subjects which need more than 6 textbooks!! and the book allowance is only 400 for a fken year).
AND for that reason, some of them have to get part time jobs. and THEY are deserved to decide on how to earn or spend it. On the other hand, regarding to those who din do well in their studies, there are a lot of other factors other than 'berjoli', for example, some of them cant cope with the environment, they're not ready to mix with locals, and the most obvious reason is some of them are still lack of self confident to ask questions. And dont take for granted that high achiever in SPM would do the same for their uni level.

tak semua student obersea camtu..
zaman saya( 7 tahun lepas)..cukup hcukup makan jer....sanngup pi kerja cuci toilet nak tambah
pendapatan..
mak n ayah saya tak mintaklah sebab they all pun kerja kg...
mungkin ader gak yg duit banyak tu...beli tu beli ni.. |

aku rasa dalam isu nih
student sponsor gi oversea nih as a reward sbb doing well dalam study diorang
and kesungguhan diorang buat activity tak cool (co-curiculum, pengawas yada yada) masa skolah dulu
so kira mmg deserve aaaa
plus zaman skarang nih (batch after gawat) mana bleh kantoi study kat oversea dah
every semester kena report/anto transcript kat mara/jpa
pasal guna duit rakyat utk shopping/enjoy
heh...ingat banyak ke gomen kasi duit...gomen kasi cukup2 je utk makan (tuh pon kadang2 tak cukup)
mostly guna duit bapak kasi, or kumpul sbb kerja sendiri
yes trust me...a lot of students bekerja sambilan kat sana utk kumpul duit okay
bkn goyang kaki je tadah duit dari langit
kes tak balik after study plak lepas guna duit rakyat
mara tak wajibkan student balik pon, diorang siap galakkan keja kat oversea lagik
jpa je kena balik..as long ko bayar utang
so conclusion aku
kalo ada peluang...pergi je
pasal tuh orang slalu cakap...study smart...
byk peluang negara kasi...

jgn hanya sebab guna handphone mahal then kita andaikan dia membazirkan duit kerajaan
lagipun handphone kan boleh dapat free
saya rasa jadi student kat oversea hanya cukup makan
nak harapkan duit scholarship memang tak cukup
bukan sebab boros tapi tu la kenyataannya
especially bila ada family sendiri
at the same time tanggung belanja parents di kampung
tak ada pun nak bermewah2
weekend lak terpaksa buat kerja kitchen porter kat cafe

udah jangan gaduh.....aku dah rasa dua dua type of education............degree USA, masters UitM.........
personally aku bukan mewah sangat duduk kat US....makan meggi dengan roti expired ajer....malam kerja bersih tong sampah dengan bersih toilet....dapt jugak USD5.50 sejam........tapi study oversea menyebabkan aku confident....sebelum pegi aku pemalu...tapi lepas tu aku jadi amat confident....kalau nak suruh aku bagi ceramah dalam 3 jam non-stop boleh la...........hujan emas di negeri orang hujan batu di negeri sendiri....walaupun aku dah kerja di US dengan gaji USD2800 sebulan namun aku tetap balik ke malaysia....kemudian sambung di Uitm buat masters....with good attitude and quality lecturer UiTM pun superb jugak....banyak membantu aku dalam memperkuatkan managerial skills and business accument aku.
secara kesimpulan, semangat, jiwa, dan akhlak serta agama kena kental....walaupun dimana kita berada |

Alang dulu belajar kt oversea under MARA (Skim Pelajar Cemerlang).. belajar kt oversea byk mengajar alang untuk lebih independent, confident... mengajar alang untuk menghargai apa yg alang dpt.. alang fly selepas kerajaan mengelurakan policy yg student tak leh belajar kt oversea (after Asian Economic crisis).. it taught alang to appreciate what i have... payah nk dapat scholarship nk fly ni...
exposure yg alang dpt kat sana boleh alang gunakan untuk alang bekerja disini...
1. my english improves (both written and spoken), walaupun alang dpt english A1 time SPM, tp biler pegi sana, english kiter byk yg perlu diimprovekan lg...
2. Kt sana mengajar alang untuk bekerja lebih efisien.. kiter tahu camner org putih buat kerjakan... very efficient and very customer oriented... alang apply benda2 ni kt tempat alang kerja... dulu alang was part of audit team... skrg alang is part of performance management team... dua2 memerlukan alang untuk menjadi efficient.. and alang gunakan apa yg alang tengok kt sana untuk digunakan disini... diorang very punctual...everythings on time... kerja dulu dan skrg memerlukan alang punctual (penuh dgn dateline) and alang kena jumpa ramai org ... mmg experience alang kt sana byk membantu alang dlm pekerjaan (besides all the guidance and trainings provided by employers....)
3. I'm a very independent person... nk travel overseas sorang2 pun takde masalah sbb dh biasa... and kat sana assignment byk individuals... so byk mengajar alang utk berdikari....
4. Confident... it helps a lots... kt sana mengajar alang lebih confident
5. mengajar alang untuk lebih mendekatkan diri kpd tuhan sbb kt sana byk dugaan
6. dan lebih menghargai malaysia... barulah alang dpt menghayati pepatah melayu hujan emas dinegeri org, hujan batu dinegeri sendiri, lebih baik dinegeri sendiri... itu alang tak leh nk sangkalkan....
I think overall... ia mengubah alang menjadi manusia yg lebih positive... kalau pegi oversea jgn la ambik benda neative bawak balik.... yg baik jadikan teladan yg buruk jadikan sempadan....

... shopping... setakat beli barang kt sunday market/ car boot sale... on top, kt sana brg murah giler... perfume baru berapa jer harga... pinggan mangkuk baru baper jer... alang beli keta kt auction baru berapa ratus dollar aje (tu pun parents sponsor skit.....), bkn duit mara yer... sewa umah pun parents alang bg lump sum every semester bayar... dh ada kt sana, kalau ada peluang nk melancong kenegara lain ... tunggu apa lg.. ini je lah chance nk berjalan (itupun budget tak ingat...back pack jer)... student kt mesia pun ramai gak yg pegi berjalan pg PD la, Cheratting la, genting etc....
Kalau yg jenis kaki disko, tonggang, pompuan pun tak kira mesia ke oerseas dia boleh buat... i jumpa ramai apa local students yg kaki clubbing tak igt... kalau dh jenih kaki enjoy tu dok kt mana pun dia bole enjoy...
Anyway local u students pun byk gak shopping guna duit pinjaman tuh... time alang interview ada satu candidate ni dgn bangga citer beli keta kancil dgn diut PTPTN (knowing the price of malaysia cars, although its a kancil) siap bayar monthly installment dgn duit PTPTN tu, sdgkan bapak keja bawak lori je, pastu buat citer sedih time interview ada financial commitment that's why nk kena kerja
... pastu ramai yg beli motor pakai duit pinjaman, pas tu berlambak gak yg beli handphone dgn diut pinjaman, ini mcm dh trend la (siap ada yg setengah tu yg ada camera yg harga seribu lebih tu... mengalahkan org dh kerja)... beli perfume dan baju branded (walaupun mahal) dgn duit pinjaman... itu pun membazir duit kerajaan bg utk belajar jugak.
so i rasa local students ke oversea ke... kalau yg dh jenis shopping katak tak igt ni... tu duit kerajaan ke apa ke...dia kira apa... ini semua bergantung kepada individu masing2 lah...

tak semua kot... kecuali yg mengalami 'cultural shock' ada gak masa puteri belaja dulu... geng geng yg dah 'biasa' ni tak kesah pun nak beli tu nak beli ni atau nak jalan sana nak jalan sini. yg 'terperanjat' tu je .. kalau cepat sedar, depa akan jadi lebih baik.... yg tak cepat sedar..... sambal belacan pun tak kenal! |
