INCREASE IN FLIGHT FREQUENCY TO SARAWAK STARTING 1ST OCTOBER 2021, AS APPROVED BY SDMC
1. During the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) meeting held on 24th September 2021, the Committee had decided to gradually increase the incoming flight frequency to Sarawak from currently 22 flights to 87 flights weekly effective from 1st October 2021.

2. These flights are from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Johore Baharu, Kota Baharu, Labuan, and Singapore going to various main destinations in Sarawak namely Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

3. The decision was made after taking into consideration various factors which include the gradual opening of the State tourism sector, the high flight fare, the demand of travelling from the public, the new SOP on full vaccination passengers travelling from within Malaysia where quarantine is exempted and the reopening of school and universities starting October 2021.

4. As a follow-up to SDMC decision, my Ministry will be calling a meeting on the 28th September 2021 with all the airlines and aviation authorities such as MAVCOM, CAAM, MAHB, APM, Residents Office including Ministry of Transport, Malaysia to look into the details on the new flight schedule. This is also to ensure the smooth implementation of the new flight schedule.

5. With the gradual opening of the flight frequency to Sarawak we are expecting the increasing in passengers and movement of people into the State starting 1st October 2021.

6. Despite the reopening and the increase in flight frequency, I would like to remind all passengers to comply strictly with the SOP set by National Security Council (MKN), Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) and SDMC including Enter-Sarawak procedures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the State.

Kerajaan pun dah announced kemungkinan akan buka sempadan negeri middle of next month. So kena la tambah penerbangan terutama ke Sabah dan Sarawak.

Harap dapat ketatkan beberapa SOP supaya dapat kekangkan penularan wabak.
