Village chiefs to quit

IPOH: At least 68 village heads in the Kinta district have signed resignation letters to be handed over to Perak Mentri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

Perak Village Heads Organisation chairman Sukiman Jalil said they planned to submit the letters en masse as early as at the end of this month.

The resignation would be effective from May 1, after a month’s notice, he said.

“We hope to get 95% of the 876 village heads to tender their resignations,” he said while addressing the Kinta village heads at a hotel here yesterday.

Sukiman said the organisation had decided that all village heads in Perak should resign after receiving the blessing of the divisions.

“The decision to leave was made collectively and not individually.

“We are Umno people and Barisan Nasional people. As village heads, we were elected by Umno. How can we then continue under a PAS-PKR-DAP government?”

Sukiman told the chiefs that after discussion, it was decided that it would be better to tender their resignations “before the state government sends us letters asking us to resign”.

“That is the best way so that we can retain some respect. If we get letters saying that we will not be retained as village head, then we would lose our dignity,” he said.

He said the organisation would meet with the Rural and Regional Development Ministry to discuss maintaining their monthly allowances, or even get more than what they presently earned.

A Perak village chief receives RM600 a month – RM400 from the Federal Government and the rest from the state.

Sukiman called on the members to stand united as an organisation and to follow its every order, including the boycott of certain functions.

Earlier, Kinta Village Heads Organisation chairman Alang Abdul Rahman said that as an Umno member, he had to keep to his principles, and hence could not work for a “mixed government”.

dulu kat CI tu cuma masuk suku je tapi sekarang dah boleh masuk penuh..mungkin isu2 post-pilihanraya masih hangat lagi kot..aku sekarang ni pun masuk forum je terus pegi CI..manatau ada berita terkini yang terlepas..kot2 PM nak letak jawatan ke

ci zaman 2005 masih tak teruk dengan isu politik.  tapi tahun lepas dan tahun ni, kuat betul bahana bod lp zaman dedulu.  tnse pun dah tak best/panas macam dedulu.  de namhar (budak manjoi dia ni) pun senyap je tak nampak sangat.  kalau tak, boleh join dia kutuk-kutuk orang
