It's always amazing to get to know what the people in the past thought about the future, the future we are living in. “France in the Year 2000” is a series of paintings made by Jean-Marc Cote and other French artists in the years 1899, 1900, 1901 and 1910. They painted their thoughts and expectations of the century ahead. The painting series was printed and enclosed in cigarette and cigar boxes in Paris, and later printed on postcards too.
The paintings clearly relate to the expectations of the people of the past, and it's good many of them have been turned into reality over the time, such as helicopters and other mechanical/electrical devices. Though they appear inclined towards the marine life, while presently we're more into space. Anyways, these paintings are real fun to have a look at!
