Roma In Barcelona For Chivu Talks
Cristian Chivu's move from AS Roma to FC Barcelona is set to step up a gear after the Italian club's sporting director travelled to the Catalan capital on Tuesday.
Daniel Prade is due at Camp Nou to iron out the remaining details of the move, but there could still be a twist in the tale as Inter continue their pursuit.
While Bar鏰 remain hopeful of pushing through their offer, Chivu and ihs agent, Giovanni Becai, have met with Inter officials, including the club's president and owner, Massimo Moratti.
The negotiations between Roma and Bar鏰 will focus on a fee for the player with the Blaugrana said to have already put |

Van Bronckhorst Leaves Barca For Feyenoord
Barcelona left-back Gio van Bronckhorst has accepted a contract offer from Feyenoord, joining them on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old had been told that he would not be a part of the first teams plans next season, and could freely find himself another club.
Gio, who is currently on vacation in the Netherlands, has now accepted a contract offer from Feyenoord.
A clause in his current contract (that had another year to run on it), which stipulated that he can leave on a free transfer this summer should he choose to, has been invoked.
The issue has been settled without animosity, with the club thanking him for his services over four seasons, and telling him that he was free to sign a longer contract somewhere else.
With the signing of Eric Abidal on the cards, the Catalan giants have their backs covered.
However, it also suggests that Sylvinho will stay on for at least another season, with Gianluca Zambrotta continuing to play on the right.
Van Bronckhorst has played a total of 151 games for the club over four seasons, scoring 7 goals. He has won 2 La Liga titles, one Champions League, and one Spanish Super Cup. |

Barca's Chivu Offer "Interesting" - Roma Chief Prade
Christian Chivu is set to become a Barcelona player within 24 horus, with an agreement between Barca and Roma close.
Inter had supposedly taken the lead in the race for the Romanian defender yesterday, but following Roma sporting director Daniele Prade's whirlwind trip to Barcelona, the Catalan giants are back in charge.
Their latest offer is a staight cash one, very close to the 18 million euros that Roma are demanding at the moment.
Prade spoke about the issue upon his return from Spain, and clearly indicated that he was pleased with Barcelona's offer.
"The Blaugrana offer is interesting," he said. "We cannot reveal the details for the sake of confidentiality of the negotiations, but the offer is very interesting."
He refused to speak about Inter, or whether they had in between made an offer that was superior to Barcelona's.
It had been suggested that Chivu was more keen to stay on in Italy, but reports today have suggested that to not be the case. Barring a surprise, a final deal should be struck within the next 24 hours. |

Abidal In Barcelona To Complete Move
Eric Abidal is already in Barcelona, and is set to complete his move to the Camp Nou club on Thursday.
The French international left back has made it abundantly clear that he wants to move to a bigger club, but Lyon had been unwilling to sell him except for a rather inflated price.
The French champions wanted 20 million euros, while Barcelona were unwilling to offer anything more than 12, causing negotiations to stall for a while.
However, Barca are keen to complete the bulk of their transfer business this week itself, and a fee of around 14-15m is close to being agreed.
Abidal has already been in Barcelona for over 24 hours now, officially to enjoy his vacations, but unofficially to wait for Barca and Lyon to reach an agreement so he can complete the formalities.
The signing will be confirmed tomorrow, following which the player will complete his medical and be presented, either in the evening, or on Friday morning.
Barcelona are confident that it is only a matter of time, as they have already allowed Gio van Bronckhorst to join Feyenoord on a free transfer. |

Yaya Toure The Next Vieira - Drogba
The Ivorian international striker has hailed his compatriot, who completed a move to Barcelona on Tuesday.
Toure's style of play and his physique have both resulted in him being likened to Patrick Vieira, and Didier Drogba seems to agree.
"He is the new Patrick Vieira," said the Ivory Coast skipper.
"He has the same physique, power and impressive ability, but it was not up to me to sign him [for Chelsea].
"When I returned from the African Nations Cup, I spoke with Jose and asked him to look at Yaya because I thought he would be sensational for Chelsea."
Of course, the 24-year-old has since joined Barcelona, and is set to assume the all-important defensive midfield role behind what is likely to be a rather prolific attack next season.
Chelsea might have missed out on him, but in Obi Mikel and Essien, they have their very own African midfielders. |
