salam semua.
lama yatie tak join sesama kat sini. sibuk sungguh 2-3 minggu ni. satu hal la plak dok selak2 page2 blakang.
Kak Fie, good luck with the doc's appoinment nanti. Hopefully Kak Fie tabah mendengar apa2 keputusan yg Dr Kadir bagi
Losyen, anak yatie pun girl jugak, She will be 5 in April. This yr yatie dah register dia kat kindy Superkids kat Alor Star ni. Masuk special class dulu but in the same building ngan class2 kindy biasa. Tapi February baru start because the kindy nak settlekan budak2 class biasa dulu. Kat situ they will try to train special kids ni untuk belajar bergaul and follow instruction. To prepare the for normal school if possible. Selaa kat class tu pun they will assess and see if the child is ready to join budak2 lain kat class biasa, then they will move the child.
Itu yg kita mahu kan. So that bila cikgu ajar they all tak merayap merata-rata. Kalau dia mau duduk kat la class tu pun dah ok and respond to instructions. Alhamdulillah ada jugak class tu kat Alor Star ni. Yatie dah dok risau camna nak bagi dia pegi kindy. Last yr dah try tapi tak berjaya. |

Yatie, saya hantar kat tadika kemas dulu tuk sebulan, nak tengok pergaulan dia ngan budak2 normal. By next month nak tukar ke kindy yg ada mengajar budak2 special nih. esok ada appointment ngan doc. Tapi kanak-kanak autistic ni memang special kan? last 2 days my hubby sorokkan music box, my daughter boleh cari sampai dapat mana music box tu disorokkan, dan 1 lagi, masa susun puzzle, even puzzle tu masih berterabur, dia boleh tau part mana yg hilang... |

sana government bagus ye? ok la for you..
cheaper tak compared to private?
macam sini dr government yang advice aku pi ke hospital swasta.. |

Der,
term autistic, autism ngan ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) yang guna dalam thread ni rasanya maksud sama je. Syntax .
Tapi autism tu actually dok bawah payung ASD (ataupun dipanggil jugak PDD - Pervasive developmental delay). Bawah payung ASD/PDD ni ada lagi syndrome lain eg. Rett syndrome, Aspergers syndrome, PDD not specified.
ADHD tu lain pulak.
Those with ADHD tak semestinya autistic.
Tapi ada jugak baca anak-anak yang diagnosed with both Autism ngan ADHD.
For better understanding gi check www.childbrain.com

Editorial Reviews
From Booklist
As father of a child who was late in talking but precocious in otherskills, Sowell had long been interested in such children. It was not, however, until the famous policy analyst wrote about his son (now anadult) in his syndicated column that he became acquainted with manyother late-talkers' parents. With them, he created an informationexchange; eventually, good social scientist that he is, he sent them aquestionnaire to formally collect facts about late-talking, brightchildren for the purposes of ascertaining common characteristics andpossibly honing diagnosis of what for many families is a disquietingset of circumstances, not least because public school authorities areoverly prone to label such children autistic.Essentially, this book reports the questionnaire's gleanings and makessome tentative conclusions. But in the stories of particular children, including little John Sowell, that precede the reporting, it isengrossing, inspiriting, and lovely to read. Ray Olson --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
From Kirkus Reviews
A father's first-personaccount of his young son's difficulties in learning to talk, hissurprising disoveries about other late talkers, and some intriguingspeculation about the causes of this problem. Although clearly a brightboy who understood when spoken to and who displayed unusual analyticalabilities (as a toddler, he managed to outwit a child-proof lock),Sowell's son John did not speak until he was almost four years old. When Sowell, a Hoover Institute senior fellow (Migrations and Culture,1996, etc.), wrote about his son in his syndicated newspaper column, dozens of parents of late-talking children wrote to him. A supportgroup of 55 families representing 57 children eventually formed. Sowellfollows the story of his son John--now a successful computerscientist-- with numerous anecdotal accounts from these families'letters. Seeing a pattern in their stories, Sowell sent outquestionnaires in 1994 and 1996, and the results of the longer 1996survey are summarized here. He discovered that most of the late talkerswere boys, with especially good memories and puzzle-solving skills, that most were slow in their social development and late in toilettraining, and that many had close relatives who played musicalinstruments or were in analytical professions. Sowell, who is moreanecdotal than scientific in his approach, is quick to acknowledge thathis is a biased sample of late talkers, but he asserts that bothprofessionals and parents should be aware of this pattern of mentalabilities and family backgrounds. It may be, he speculates, that somebright children are late in talking precisely because the demands oftheir analytical abilities, localized in the left half of the brain, are being met at the expense of the speech function. Children like hisson, he warns, are frequently misdiagnosed as retarded or autistic andthus risk being placed in special- education classes, from whichrelease may be difficult. Hardly definitive, but should ease the mindsof worried parents. -- Copyright |
