dexa, this is a review regarding for the roses
i think this one fits the book well

"Four young boys, members in a street gang, while hiding out in an ally, watch on as someone throws what turns out to be a baby into a dumpster. After rescuing the baby and deciding to turn their lives around they move out west to Blue Belle Montana to get away from their pasts. They raise the baby, who they name Mary Rose, as their sister and with their new identity they in turn become brothers.

Nineteen years later the trouble begins when someone spots the now grown up Mary Rose; who incidentally looks exactly like someone who's child was stolen years ago at the age of 4 months. A lawyer who owes a debt to the father continues the search for the missing child. He shows up in Blue Belle without letting on who he is and is taken in under Mary Rose's care and given a job at their ranch.

Mary Rose has never met a man that has affected her this way. He is stubborn, stands up to her brother Cole who is known as the fastest gunfighter in town, is compassionate, and has a great sense of humor.   Little by little she is falling more and more in love with him and he is already in love with her. This poses a problem since he knows she is really Lady Victoria and that he would never be good enough for her.

Finally he tells her brothers his true identity and prepares to leave to tell his employer he has found his long lost daughter. "

for me, for the roses is quite an attempt by JW to try another kind of settings since her previous books before this book, is always set on regency historical times.

i would say it's quite a good attempt.

but truthfully told, i found her books a little tad boring after reading Susan Elizabeth Phillips

for the roses... one of my fav books by julie garwood... what i like about this book... is the relationship between the siblings.... they were not blood related... but they protected and loved each other strongly...

for the roses is the story about the youngest of them, and the only girl... no need to explain further as mardhiah already give the synopsis..

and then got the trilogy, short stories, one red rose, one white rose and one pink rose... x igt sgt la the color tuh, heheh... so sesapa igt tlg btolkan... so the trilogy told told the stories of of the 3 brothers, including the eldest, Adam, who is black... the trilogy just so and so... not so great... but maybe because it is too short...

then another separate book.... tell the story of another brother.. cole clayborne... who is also my favourite brothers... hehe... this book actually have 2 heroes and heroines... because cole get together with a us marshall, errr, forgot the name of the marshall, to catch a group of robbers, who killed a lot of people, including marshall's wife and child...

I think other than the clayborne stories, another book by Julie Garwood which is set up in US is Prince Charming... (her contemporary not included, because all were set in US)...

buku 'for the roses' ni siap buat miniseries kat US...

i like the bonding between 4 not blood related brothers and the sister..
tapi kalau Julie Garwood elaborate how Mary Rose grows from childhood to womanhood in the hand of the 4 brothers, mesti lagi interesting kan?

uiks... ada miniseries ek for the roses... dh lama ke? kat malaysia ada smpai ke?

anyway... just want to put my review for her latest book here, Shadow Music, which I managed to read last weekend... last nite sebenonye.. and the book caused me to sleep late... nk abihkan nye pasal la nih... and arinih sleepy lak kat opis...

Shadow Music by Julie Garwood

As we know, this is her historical after a few books on contemporary.  I was really looking forward for this book, sbb dh lama x baca her historical (new one I mean)..

This set up is in Highland, as most of her historicals, and the hero, Laird McHugh, is an ally of Buchanan, Maitland and Sinclair clans (from her previous books, but I can't remember the title, as I'm not good with remembering titles of the book).  Laird McHugh was a fierce warrior, and he was feared by others, more than they feared Laird Buchanan (Brodick is still my fav hero in JG historicals set in Highlands).

Lady Gabrielle, or known as Princess Gabrielle, is related to Gillian, Brodick, which make them related by marriage to the Buchanan.  Brodick really hate it that he is related to the English, however he respects Gabriel's father, Baron Geoffrey.

Gabrielle mother was from a small country called St. Biel, which was famous for their gold treasure, which had gone dissappeared.  St. Biel was invaded by the English, but they cannot find the treasure.  Gabrielle mother is the niece to the King of St. Biel, which was killed during the invasion.

Gabrielle was always up to mischief, according to her father, but luckily, she has 4 royal bodyguards from the St. Biel to guard and save her.  It is a tradition of St. Biel royal family to have bodyguards for their princess since she was borned till she is married, and when they are sure that the husband can protect their princess, they will left.

Back to the story, there are 2 rival barons, Percy and Coswold (I hope I get their names right) who always compete against each other in everything, including marriage to Gabrielle.  Both are closed to the King of England, King John, and each believed that they will be chosen by the king to marry Gabrielle.  They want Gabrielle because she is beautiful, but the real reason for Coswold to marry Gabrielle was because he believes Gabrielle knew where the treasure of St. Biel was hidden.

Unfortunately to both of the barons, King John decided to give Gabrielle to a Laird in a Highland for a marriage (Ops.. I can't remember the Laird's name).  Gabrielle was given a land in Highland which to be her dowry.  On the way to her wedding, which is going to be held at the abbey in the Highland, Gabrielle and her guards were wandering around, while her father went to see Buchanan clan for a visit, and they saw a murder going to be committed.

The person who's going to be murdered was actually Laird McHugh younger brother, Liam, because the want to lure the Laird itself and kill him.  The McKenna was the one who planned this, but he hired a lowland people to do the job, because he doesn't want others to know it was his plan.  Gabrielle manage to stop the murder, and she and her guards brought Liam to the abbey to give treatment, as he was unconcious.  The only person who knows about this is Father Gelroy, who promised Gabrielle he won't tell a soul.

Later on, Gabrielle fiancee was murdered on the way to his wedding.  As his father was not there, he was on the way back to England, Coswold and Percy comes forward to propose a marriage to Gabrielle.  At the same time the niece of Gabrielle's deceased fiancee also claim for her hand, and later on, Laird McKenna also offer for Gabrielle, as he want Gabrielle's dowry.

However, Isla, Coswold niece who has a crush on Percy, suddenly speak out and claim that Gabrielle is not innocent.  All of a sudden, Gabrielle was condemned, and banished from England, and stripped of her title.  All the while, the drama was being watched by Laird McHugh and Laird Buchanan, who believes Gabrielle is innocent.  Laird Buchanan felt responsible for Gabrielle, as she is her relative, but he knows that the only way to protect her and clear her name is for someone powerful to marry he.  As Laird McHugh has some debt to pay him, he ask Laird McHugh to marry Gabrielle to pay the debt, which he at last agreed.

I like the heroine in this story, Gabrielle, dia cam sempoi je... the story is good, for me, though the ending cam too simple sgt.  Overall, her historical is definitely better than her contemporary.

P/S: Sorry la panjang sgt review.. x reti nk pendekkan dh... nih pun dh byk simplify...
