mder,
thanks for the info. Nampaknya tak banyak beza the method macam pegi kat psycho nadiah kat LGL. Hopefully she would like it. So far nadiah ni yatie notice buleh bercakap. vocab dia banyak kalau nak dikira. and also dia paham intructions. cuma nak prompt her to speak saja yg susah. Bila dia rasa nak cakap baru dia cakap. Most of the time dia just tarik2 tangan je. But lately, bila we all press her to say something like 'please' ke or 'mama' or 'baba' dia akan cakap. kalau tidak tak dapat la apa yg dia nak.
We'll see how she does bila jumpa ST bulan lima nanti... |

yatie,
another mistake yg i selalu buat....bila give instruction or cakap, kita suka nak guna tangan points towards that thing.......kalau yg cerdik sikit tu, maybe dia tak paham the meaning of the words, tapi dia main teka ikut where the fingers is pointing.....and my son is raja teka meneka ni......
so tangan dok kelipiaq bila cakap tu kena kurangkan la... (maklumla orang penang ) |

my son dulu oun camtu..everytime bagi instruction, we point our finger, so, dia buaat based on where the finger is pointing..
tapi now kita org dah tak buat camtu...even kat sekolah dia pun di ajar arahan without pointing finger...so, now leh nampak improvement la..
btw..just to update how good the to send them to trained teachers...last friday time i nak pick my son up..he was sitting at the table, baru nak start buat jigsaw puzzle...he didnt care, nak teruskan buat jugak...so, i entered the class and sit next to him...dalam 1 min, he was able to complete the puzzle (yg besar2 la pieces nya..ada 9 pieces)...for me, it was quiet an achievement sb tak sangka he was able to solve the puzzle.. |

hmmm yatie baru perasan bila norsha n mder cakap pasai pointing tu. slama ni dok geram awat nadiah slalu buat benda lain bila i suruh dia buat lain. padahal most times dia faham words yg yatie guna. macam last night, nadiah bawak keluar cd byk2 dari kotak naik atas katil. so yatie suruh dia keep and point to the drawer kat tepi pintu. dia macam confused. in the end dia pi tutup lampu yg switch kat tepi pintu tu. bila you all cakap ni baru yatie realised. a few times bila yatie point ngan finger dia cam confused ngan instruction tu. patut la. Kita nak dia recognize the word bukan nak suruh dia teka2 kan?
thanks you guys bagi yatie sedar. nanti nak experimen lagi... |

dah register for the seminar. Two sessions on 28th & 29th April from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm kat Taylors College in three languages-BM, BI & Chinese.
First day, seminar on Early Signs. Second day ada a few seminars, namely, on Behaviour Management, Speech & Language and Occupational Therapist. kalau tak salah, all seminars di buat serentak, so kena pilih satu shj, tak boleh attend semua.
For me, will only attend the second day - on Behaviour Management. |

2 hari baru habis baca topic ni.
So much info yg sgt le membantu i nak buat decision. My son dah 3yrs 11mths.
Feb 07 I dah pernah bawa my son jumpa peady.. he said ada mild symtom nothing to worry about becos he still too young.
Ask me to stop preschool bcos too early.
Then bring him to Kidzgrow kat Hartamas, but consultant tu kata kena buat assessment either in English or Malay(translator). Kitorang kat umah bahasa rojak, so takleh nak decide masa tu. So we plan to observe progress dia kat cec this year. But reading all the info dlm thread ni buat I fikir no need to wait. Based on daily behaviour and comments from teacher pun dah cukup sebenarnya utk pegi buat full assessment. At least kalau betul2 takde masalah i lega. So far hearing test tu pun tak dapt full cooperation, result recommend 2nd stage hearing assessment. But kitorang tak buat lagi.
Skrg we always scold him. Kadang susah sgt nak tahan marah. Makin besar makin mcm2 perangai yg kitorang tak tahan. Dah le speech problem kitorang tak paham dia cakap apa ..then lagi cepat dia upset n throw tantrums. |

ummi,
pendapat yatie la kan, anak ummi ok kot. dia muda lagi. tak masuk dua thn pun lagi kan. maybe dia just pelat kot. usually autism ni dah masuk 2 to 2 1/2 y.o. baru buleh detect. so just give your child more time. tapi kalau ummi risau jugak, bila2 jumpa peads dia cuba tanya pendapat. |

Lom habis baca lagi topik ni.
Anak akak pun autisma. bayangkan dari umur 4 tahun bawa jumpa dr, only last month dr kat HUKM sahkan dia autisma. selama ni kita kata autisma, dr kata bukan, kita kata autisma, dr kata bukan, penat weh. dah 9 tahun umur dia this coming 14th May.
bila baca komen u all pasal anak-anak nak ketawa ada, nak menangispun ada. yessss! taht is my son. all this while pening kepala kenapa budak ni camni. lebih menyedihkan napa dr sesenang kata bukan autisma bila dia orang sendiri tak buat test yg rapi. semua ciri yg u all cerita ada pada anak akak. kurang eye cntact, tak nak peluk, lap balik bekas kena cium kat pipi dia, lap gelas dia yg bekas kita minum, sibuk dengan dinosour, makan macam dog, jalan dengan tangan (kat sekolah) berlagak macam animal, makan nasi ngan kicap dan ikan goreng, spaghetti ngan tomato sauce, laksa ngan kicap. paling payah kalau makan kat luar. that is my son.
hafal doa qunut dalamasa seminggu masa umur dia 6 tahun, guru Quran dia cakap makhraj dia perfect, umur 3 tahun boleh mimicking jingles perfectly, even kalau ada kat hujung jingles tu perkataan 'ek' dalam nada yg paling perlahan, he will do that. tapi tak pandai bercakap sehingga umur 5 tahun. 5 tahun i can say ada 10 words je kot. darjah 3 ni, i cannot explain to him apa dia bijak apa dia pandai apa dia bijaksana apa dia ariff. perkataan berganda, perkataan berlawan, perkataan seerti, camne nak cerita ngan dia since vocab dia kurang sgt. he speaks English better than malay. orang selalu tanya, anak i lahir kat overseas ke? pernah stay kat overseas lama ke? mak dia berangan je nak study kat oversea. Masuk A-Level cabut sebab tak nak jadi first batch buat A-Level kat Malaysia.
dalam beberapa minggu ni cari sebanyak mungkin info tentang autis. join PR4A [email protected] . G meeting PR4A sebab nak berkenalan ngan parents yg anaknya autis. kat situ ramai Chinese. Alhamdulillah kat sini jumpa ramai Malays lak. tadi baca ada kajian kat US katanya 1 of 150 children mengidap ASD
SEsiapa yg nak contact saya, boleh e-mail to me [email protected] atau [email protected] . kalau gmail tu saya selalu cek kat handphone. kalau office punya tu selalu tak dapat acces thru phone, nak kena belajor lagi cam ne nak buka e-mail office thru phone. phone kokak kot. ataupun akak yg kokak
To jijah.. ye ke nama tu guru sekolah khas yg mengajar 5 muris special. I'm interested to send my child to your school. last weekend dia main ngan pisau, bila kakak dia tanya dia kata dia nak mati. according to friends at PR4A, dia rasa stress sebab org tak faham dia. I need to send him to a place where he feel comfortable, a place where he has friend with same problem, friends that understand him |

Akak antar gi NASOM x? NASOM khas utk kanak autisme. Kesian akak sbb br dpt tahu anak ASD. Kalau tahu dr awal, kita bleh disiplin kn n treat elok2. Bg sy, disiplin dr awal amat penting. Especially kalu IQ dia tinggi, bleh blajar, espeger. Sbb syarat utk kanak2 ASD join inklusif class- behavior control. Kalu bleh control disiplin, diorg lg terror dr budak normal. Ramai lecturer sy kt maktab interested sgt ngn bdk2 ASD.
Masa sy gi kursus ngn lecturer dr Aust dulu, dia pun pelik apasal bdk2 ASD kt mesia terror english. Padahal, kids with ASD kt tmpt dia lemah sgt english literature.
Sbnrnye kak, sek sy tu sek rendah kebangsaan, ada kelas khas utk kanak2 pendidikan khas. Sume problem ada (sindrom down, lembam, autisme etc). Kita pecahkn kelas ikut level IQ budak. Paling ramai 7org satu kelas. Xleh ramai sgt, krg pening cikgu nk mengejar.. hehe.. Yg bagusnye, budak2 ni join program ngn budak biasa. Makan sesama, sukan sesama, rehat sesama, assembly sesama, kira bercampur la. Kami focus diorg leh campur ngn org, urus diri.
Kt NASOM lak, 1kelas 5org bdk n 2 cikgu. More to treat behavior n academic diorg. Cikgu lebih focus utk ngajar, cuma diorg brcampur ngn sesama diorg la.
Ramai budak sek sy yg ASD, pagi gi sek keb, lepas sek gi NASOM. Penat kot tp ok je sy rasa. At least masa diorg trisi ngn something yg berfaedah. |

semalam attend workshop PR4A pasal PECS. nampak interesting, tapi dah tak sesuai for my son kot, sebab dia dah banyak benda yg dia tahu. tapi dok terfikir nak ambil gambar semua cikgu dia dan semua class mate dia, letak nama dia orang kat situ so that dia boleh memorise nama-nama cikgu dan kawan-kawan. sampai la kalau tanya Cikgu BM Danial nama apa? tak tahu la. Tadi tengahari makan apa. tak tahu la
Yg paling penat dia ni..... Ummi kita nak gi mana? nak balik rumah. lepas balik rumah? mandi. lepas mandi? tengok TV, lepas tengok tv? makan, lepas makan? jenuh menjawab until ada sesuatu yg catchy atau yg dia nak dengar, sampai dia sebut yeeeee
Masa exam, dia tak jawab soalan kalau cikgu tak tunggu kat sebelah suruh dia jawab soalan. dia tak akan turn to next page, kalau tak suruh turn. Acap kali kerja sekolah dia, dia sebenarnya tahu jawab, tapi nak kena suruh baru dia buat, tak suruh tak buat. no 2 pulak, no 3 pulak, letih! |

Petang semalam saya hadir workshop Picture Exchange Communication System anjuran Parents Resources for Autism ataupun PR4A. Anak saya yg kedua Ahmad Danial didiagnosed as autism. Baru je diagnosed middle of last month.
PECS digunakan utk communications. Biasanya anak-anak autism ni dia tak tahu apa nak cakap. So kita ajar dia communicate. Ada 6 stage dalam PECS.

hi wayneally,
yatie penah post abut PECS ni dulu tapi tak la explain panjang lebar macam u buat. I think PECS ni mmg bagus and yatie ada guna for my daughter. Tapi my daughter tak berapa respon sgt. cuma i guna as introduction of vocab dekat dia.
anyway, ni ada few pics of PECS album yg yatie penah tempek dulu.
