SMAP Summer Tour
SMAP (Nakai Masahiro, Kimura Takuya, Inagaki Goro, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Katori Shingo) announced yesterday that they are to go on a 5-city tour from July 30, their first nationwide tour in two years. They will play 21 shows at 7 venues, including the National Stadium in Tokyo. Yoshida Takuro, The Alfee and others performed at a concert there in 1985, and the stadium welcomed the Three Tenors in 1996. But this is the first time that a single group will perform at the venue, built for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 and these days better known for hosting the national soccer team. As the name SMAP comes from "Sports Music Assemble People," the group are selling the stadium shows as a return to their roots. They'll kick off the tour at Sapporo Dome and finish at Tokyo Dome. They will also play four straight nights at the Yahoo! Dome in Fukuoka and Nagoya Dome, both historic firsts for the venues. The tour will also coincide with a new album, currently in production.

SMAP To Have Next Concert At Kokoritsu Kyougijou
Super group SMAP announced they will be holding a concert at Kokoritsu Kyougijou on September 3rd and 4th. The planned concert has been in negotiations for 3 years as the management has tried to find locations that would hold attendees over 80 000 people. This is the first time a concert will be held by a Japanese artiste in the well-known soccer stadium. In the fast few years, SMAP concert has attracted 100 000 people in a single attendance. The dome has had performances such as three opera tenor artists and at a garden fireworks special Matsuura Aya and W performed but SMAP will be the first to have a full concert. |

Choi Ji-woo Stars with Japanese Star Kimura Takuya
Actress Choi Ji-woo has filmed a short television drama with Japanese star Kimura Takuya. The Japanese sports daily Sankei Sports reported on June 20 that Choi and Takuya co-starred in a drama that will air on Fuji TV's program "SMAP譙MAP" on June 27. Choi visited Japan last week to film the drama in a studio.
The newspaper also wrote that the drama starring Choi and Takuya is from the psychological game genre. In the story, the two main characters try to read each other's thoughts and mindset through facial expressions and gestures while playing cards.
Sankei Sports said Choi showed a completely different side of her acting talent by playing a composed and cool-headed woman, unlike her sensitive and emotional character in "Winter Sonata." The newspaper said Choi and Takuya looked serious when cameras were on, but laughed a lot when the filming was over or when they were checking just-filmed scenes on the site.
Sankei Sports also wrote that Takuya asked Choi about drama production in Korea. In response, Choi explained that each television drama in Korea usually consists of 20 episodes which air twice a week, and that oftentimes the filming lasts all night long. Takuya was reportedly very surprised to hear that each drama in Korea typically has up to 20 episodes.
The newspaper said Choi expressed her thanks to the Japanese production team in Japanese after the filming was over, and projected that this drama will draw significant attention as it features two high-profile stars who are Korean and Japanese.
Sankei Sports also wrote that preliminary sales of Choi's first DVD and photo album "Jiwoo Travel in Diary," which will be released in late July, have already begun on the Internet portal website "Excite." |
