Kalau beli Gripen NG yg powered by GE engines, masih ada Congress input..not sure kalau guna R&R engines. Other then Gripen, hanya ada dua options lain, Typhoon dan Rafale. Hanya Rafale yg 100% French yg so far takde sibuk meddling buyer's country policies.

Rafale pun menarik jugak. Cuma nnt kena amik kira cos maintenance. Gripen ni cost effective dan cukup bagus la utk negara kita. Kita pun bukan yer ada ancaman agresif pun

I don't think the GE F414G is going to be a problem.We use a lot of US products everywhere,even our Sukhois pakai IFF system buatan US.We use a lot of GE and P&W engines in may of our planes,civil or military.In fact,GE has a facility here in Subang WMSA.

A more critical issue would be weapon systems especially missiles and PGMs.Not a problem with the Gripen NG since it's main AAMs are the IRIS-T and the Meteor.

There was s proposal to use the EJ200 from the Typhoon,for the NG project.But in the end,they decided to go with GE.

The Typhoon and Rafale,nice as they are,are way too costly for us.Looking at the potential threats in our locality and even slightly beyond,the Gripen NG would suffice,even surpass anything a potential adversary could muster against us..maybe with the exception of the RSAF la.

How about F-16 E/F? The export version for UAE air force. They bought it for USD 26.9 million per unit which we can buy 2 unit of F-16 E/F for the price of 1 Gripen. And F-16 E/F is the latest block with major modification from its predecessor unlike Spore and Indo's F-16, they're not in the same league compared to this latest block~
