Liverpool Draw Up Five Man Striker Wish-List: £84m Worth Of Talent Targeted
Anfield side look to bring in attacking alternatives.
Kenny Dalglish will this summer seemingly be focusing a great deal of his summer transfer effort, and budget, on looking for striking alternatives. Liverpool have managed just 40 goals in 33 Premier League matches this term and aside from Luis Suarez none of the Anfield side’s attacking options have been effective this term.
Though Andy Carroll has managed to score a couple of goals of late there is every chance that Dalglish will look to either replace the £35m man or at the very least bring in other options as overall the pool of talent available to the Scot is very limited, especially when you factor in that Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt are both in the latter stages of their careers and arguably better used out wide.
With this in mind a number of reports have emerged of late detailing attackers that the Merseyside club are reportedly interested in.
Liverpool face a fight to sign highly rated Colombian international striker Jackson Martinez in the summer.
The 25-year-old, who has scored 17 goals in 31 league appearances this season, plays his club football for Mexican side Jaguares.
And he has attracted interest on Merseyside as well as other top European clubs, including Porto.
Martinez may work well as a back up option as the Colombian has no experience of football outside of Mexico and Colombia and therefore his ability to make an impact in the Premier League has to be questioned. That said, the powerfully built forward may well do a good job in the physical environs of the English top tier.
Liverpool alerted as Villarreal put Giuseppe Rossi up for sale
The Italy international could be available for as little as £12m in the summer transfer window due to the Spanish club’s financial problems, with Premier League teams sounded out.
Given Villarreal’s poor form this term it seems highly likely that the American born Italian international may look to leave the Madrigal this term. The former Man United man has been an excellent servant to his La Liga side, notching up 82 goals in 192 appearances for the Yellow Submarines and would be a very notably signing who could be looking to prove he can make it in the Premier League after his poor spells at Old Trafford and Newcastle United.
Liverpool are losing patience with Andy Carroll and will look to offload him in order to finance a deal for £30m rated Cavani, so they can partner him with his international compatriot Luis Suarez.
The Italian outfit have maintained their stance that it would take a huge amount of money to prise him away from them, but sources say he could be tempted by a big money move to England.
To be honest a move for a player of Cavani’s stature may be a bridge too far for a Liverpool side that is some way off the race for a top four spot. The Uruguayan will be wanting guaranteed Champions League football and the only chance the Anfield side of snapping up the Napoli man is if Dalglish looks to make the most of the presence of the player’s countrymen Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates at the club.
Liverpool are plotting to sign Anderlecht forward Matias Suarez and pair him with namesake Luis in an all-South American strike force.
The Argentine marksman is rated at £20million and has been watched by technical director Damien Comolli.
Arsenal, along with the two Manchester clubs, are also keen to bring Suarez to England.
Matiaz Suarez has made a name for himself in Belgium but much like Jackson Martinez we are talking about a player yet to prove himself at the highest level. Also remember the last striker who moved to the Merseyside club from the Belgian leagues after scoring a bucketload…a certain Milan Jovanovic!
Liverpool prepared to battle Spurs for £22m-rated Leandro Damiao’s signature
Liverpool are ready to rival Tottenham for Brazil striker Leandro Damiao.
Harry Redknapp had a £15million bid rejected in the summer for the 22-year-old from Internacional, who now value him closer to £22m.
Whilst Damiao hasn’t plied his trade in Europe he has shown he has the potential to be a big star when he does finally make his inevitable move from Brazil and Liverpool would do well to keep a close eye on the Internacional man, who could well be a quality partner for Suarez up front. |
