‘Saya kini perlu bekerja keras membuktikannya’
MANCHESTER: Nani ada sasaran menjadi pemain terbaik dunia - tugas yang agak sukar kerana dia beraksi dalam era sama dengan Lionel Messi dan bekas rakan sepasukan di Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bagaimanapun pemain sayap Red Devils itu berada pada landasan betul dalam menggapai impian itu. Nani, 24, menceriakan penyokong United dengan satu lagi gol menakjubkan ketika membantu pasukannya menewaskan Chelsea 3-1 Ahad lalu.
“Itu antara impian saya - menjadi yang terbaik di dunia,” kata bintang Portugal itu. “Saya tahu saya mempunyai kemampuan berada dalam kelompok pemain terbaik dunia, tetapi saya perlu bekerja keras membuktikannya.
“Kadang-kadang ia tidak menjadi, tetapi apa yang saya mampu janjikan ialah selagi saya bermain bola, saya akan cuba yang terbaik untuk sampai ke tahap itu. Saya harap satu hari nanti orang akan berkata, ‘Nani adalah pemain hebat yang memenangi banyak kejuaraan dan memecah rekod kelab.”
Bos United, Alex Ferguson berkata: “Nani sungguh menakjubkan. Dia seorang pemain yang hebat dan sudah mula matang. Kita akan menyaksikan tahun yang terbaik daripadanya, tidak ragu-ragu lagi.”
Dibandingkan dengan Ronaldo pada peringkat sama kariernya di Old Trafford, kedua-dua pemain sudah menjaringkan 19 gol dalam perlawanan liga. - Agensi

Kecederaan Hernandez tak teruk
MANCHESTER: Javier Hernandez akan kembali turun menjalani latihan hari ini, menurut ejen penyerang Manchester United itu kelmarin.
Pemain Mexico itu mengalami kecederaan selepas dikasari Ashley Cole ketika pasukannya menewaskan Chelsea 3-1, Ahad lalu.
Reaksi spontan pengurus Manchester United, Alex Ferguson adalah Hernandez mungkin diketepikan selama dua minggu namun penyerang itu mungkin tidak boleh bermain lebih lama.
Namun, selepas pemain berharga 7 juta (RM34.3 juta) itu menjalani ujian imbasan kelmarin, ejennya berkata kaki Hernandez hanya bengkak dan pemain itu akan menjalani latihan bersama rakan sepasukan selepas kunjungan ke Leeds bagi perlawanan pusingan ketiga Piala Liga Inggeris, awal pagi tadi.
“Tiada apa, ia sekadar bengkak, tidak lebih daripada itu,” kata ejennya, Eduardo Hernandez.
“Imbasan dilakukan kerana mereka menjangkakan kakinya retak. Saya jangka dia akan kembali menjalani latihan hari.” - Agensi

Stoke vs Man United Player Ratings
Stoke City earned their first point against Manchester United after holding the Barclays Premier League champions to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Stoke City
Asmir Begovic - 6
It certainly wasn't his best performance of the season so far. Looked nervy at times and was lucky United did not punish his indecisiveness more often.
Andy Wilkinson - 7.5 (Off 83')
Great game for Wilkinson and rightly got a standing ovation when he was subbed off. Played as a right-back he supported Pennant superbly down the right flank.
Ryan Shawcross - 7
The former Manchester United player looked a bit suspect at times - especially when asked to deal with some of Berbatov's neat touches - but overall he did the job for his team and Stoke come away with a point.
Jonathan Woodgate - 6
Woodgate was lucky to get away with a few things against United. First, his last-ditch tackle to deny Hernandez a one-v-one chance with his goalkeeper had more than a hint of being illegal. Also, he could've gifted United a penalty for a foul on Berbatov in the second half.
Matthew Etherington - 7
The winger carried out his manager's game plan effectively. His job was to whip in quality balls into the United penalty area and that's what he did most of the time.
Glenn Whelan - 6.5 (Off 85')
Generally, Whelan did well but you have to say Fletcher and Anderson won the midfield battle over Stoke.
Jermaine Pennant - 6.5 (Off 90')
His pace was his main strength against United who had to play Valencia as an emergency right-back after Evans got injured in the warm-up.
Rory Delap - 7
His long throw ins were such a constant danger to the United goal - as expected. Kevin Keegan reckons they are more deadly than Stoke's corner-kicks and he might not be wrong in saying that you know.
Marc Wilson - 6
The former Portsmouth man struggled against Nani.
Jonathan Walters - 7
On another day he might have scored against United but De Gea was on form to stop him. His turn and shot appeared headed for the far corner before De Gea put a hand on it.
Peter Crouch - 7.5
He should've scored twice but let's not harp on the negatives. Crouch was excellent and his size makes him such a difficult opponent to mark. No surprise that he scored with his head.
Subs
Robert Huth (On 83') - 6
Didn't have much time to show his manager why he deserves to be back in the first team.
Dean Whitehead (On 85') - N/A
Cameron Jerome (On 90') - N/A

David de Gea - 8
Edwin van der Sar called Stoke his toughest challenge season in, season out. His new replacement showed everyone that he's up for the fight with a fantastic display against Tony Pulis' men. De Gea reacted brilliantly to deny Wilkinson, Walters and Crouch on three separate occasions.
Phil Jones - 7
Phil Jones continues to impress since his summer move from Blackburn. What really catches your eye - apart from his obvious defensive qualities - is how comfortable he is bombing forward. Although, he was the man supposed to be marking Crouch for the Stoke goal.
Rio Ferdinand - 7
The good news for United fans is that Ferdinand came through a tough and physical Stoke test with his reputation and fitness intact.
Patrice Evra - 6.5
Tidy and solid shift from Evra although he did get involved in a needless scrap with Pennant.
Nani - 7.5
It was a world class goal from Nani who has really become a star in his own right after an indifferent start to his Old Trafford career.
Anderson - 6.5
The Brazilian showed all the industry and dynamism he is gaining a reputation for against Stoke although he does tend to lose focus and drifts in and out of matches too much.
Darren Fletcher - 7
Fletcher is back. After a long battle with a stomach virus the tenacious midfielder was back in the red shirt putting in a shift of real quality. It was his flick which set Nani on his way to score.
Ashley Young - 6 (Off 70')
A much quieter performance from Young than we are used to since he joined United.
Dimitar Berbatov - 6 (Off 70')
Showed some flashes of typical Berba quality but he faded badly as United searched for a killer second goal.
Hernandez - 6 (Off 11')
Take out of the game after just 11 minutes because of a dead leg.
Subs
Michael Owen (On 11') - 6.5
Came on unexpectedly early after Hernandez was forced off injured, and to his credit he slotted into the team with minimal fuss. However, he doesn't appear to have a good understanding with Berbatov which hurt United.
Ryan Giggs (On 70') - 6
Missed a great chance to hand United all three points against Stoke late in the match. It was on his favoured left foot too.
Danny Welbeck (On 70') - 6
Came on for Berba but was just as ineffective. |

STOKE: Peter Crouch menyumbatkan gol penyamaan Stoke bagi menamatkan permulaan sempurna Manchester United pada musim baru Liga Perdana Inggeris apabila seri 1-1, awal pagi tadi.
Pemain yang dibeli dengan rekod bayaran 10 juta pound (RM49.06 juta) dari kelab Tottenham muncul pemain keenam menjaringkan gol bagi enam kelab berbeza Liga Perdana apabila dia menanduk masuk gol penyamaan pada minit ke-53.
