Roma came from behind to draw 1-1 with holders Internazionale in the first leg of the Coppa Italia final.
Roma would have been looking to make the most of home advantage, and they welcomed talismanic playmaker Francesco Totti back into their squad for the first time in over two months to boost spirits around the Stadio Olimpico.
Totti spent the entire 90 minutes on the bench though, and had to watch on as Inter put on a footballing masterclass in the opening exchanges.
Brazilian forward Adriano had a terrific night, and it was his superb pass that created the first goal for strike partner Julio Cruz after only eight minutes.
Inter were pegged back in the second half and Roma deservedly equalised after 55 minutes, Alessandro Mancini sweeping the ball into the net following a swift break down the right.
Neither side were able to score again in a tense final half hour, to leave the tie delicately balanced going into the second leg. |
