Hamilton lost for words
LONDON: Rising Formula One star Lewis Hamilton was left close to tears after the sister of three-time champion Ayrton Senna said she reminded him of her late brother.
The Brazilian racing great, who died aged 34 in 1994 after a crash during the San Marino Grand Prix at Italy's Imola track, was Hamilton's boyhood hero.
During the annual awards ceremony organised by Autosport magazine he received two of his three prizes from Vivian Senna who said the 22-year-old Briton was similar to her brother, both on and off the track.

Brawn gives thumbs-up to Barrichello
LONDON: New Honda team principal Ross Brawn gave Brazilian Rubens Barrichello a vote of confidence on Monday, knocking back speculation about the driver's Formula One future.
Barrichello, a race winner who worked with Brawn at champions Ferrari when the Briton was technical director there, scored no points in the season that finished in October. British team-mate Jenson Button managed six.
揜ubens has one year remaining of his contract. I think the past year was very difficult to judge either driver because of the problems with the car, |

20 Things Ferrari Have Learned In 2007
1. They don't need Michael Schumacher any more
2. They don't need Ross Brawn any more
3. They don't even need Jean Todt any more
4. They may not need Schumi in the team any more, but theFinnish branch of the Ferrari supporter's club doesn't sell nearly asmuch merchandise as the German branch,
5. It would be worth making Schumi an official testerjust so that he could have his own current range of merchandise (and itwould still outsell the other two combined).
6. Red lights at the end of the pitlane mean stop. Don't they Felipe.
7. Their car may be the best on the grid, but their e.mail system (as witnessed at the Japanese GP) is the worst.
8. Intermediates don't work very well in monsoons.
9. It IS possible to have a great season, win both championships without the use of team orders.
10. If a senior member of the team voices discontent andthoughts of moving to another team in the motorsport media, that's abit of a clue... keep an eye on them.
11. Also, watch out for members of staff with suspiciouswhite powder (that defies chemical analysis for great periods of time)in their pockets.
12. Instead of letting him have the car for free, theycould actually make extra money by charging Michael Schumacher to testthe F2007 - because he would undoubtedly pay up.
13. Kimi Raikkonen IS worth the money.
14. Felipe Massa may not be very articulate, but compared to Kimi he is Brazil's poet laureate.
15. Whoever designed the 2007 team strip was inspired bythe Bella Italia pizza chain - "Scuderia Pizzaria, we deliver thefastest pizza."
16. It might have been worth holding off the deal tosign Felipe Massa for a couple more weeks - after all, who else was hegoing to go and sign for...?
17. It may be a decent investment to give Ferraris toall the photo-copying shop managers around the Woking area - just incase Stepneygate happens again.
18. Fernando Alonso just adores wheel-to-wheel action with Felipe Massa, especially at his home grand prix.
19. Luca Montezemolo loves a challenge and this year healmost beat Ron Dennis to 'F1's poorest loser'. However some things youjust can't take away from Ron.
20. The championship isn't over till it's over.

osberg signs with Williams through 2010
Nico Rosberg has signed a new contract to keep racing for Williams until at least the end of 2010, a German newspaper revealed on Sunday.
"Oh yes, thank you," the 22-year-old responded when congratulated on the new two-year deal by Bild am Sonntag.
"That was supposed to be a secret," he laughed.
"I am looking forward to two more years here with Williams."
Rosberg had been linked with a switch to McLaren, but was always firmly under contract to his Oxfordshire based employer for 2008.
The young German admits that his deal for next season, signed before he made his Grand Prix debut last year, is not particularly lucrative.
"I wanted to come into Formula One at any price," Rosberg said. "Now Williams has decided to make me a great offer for 2009, and I have accepted it."
He says the financial terms of his new deal have improved 'considerably'.
"Williams have made me an attractive, far better offer with a new contract up to 2009 and I decided to accept it," Rosberg told Sunday's edition of Bild.
"For Williams the question of letting me go (to McLaren) never arose," he continued. "I could imagine myself (joining McLaren) just like I could see myself at Ferrari in 2008. Every young driver wants a car that can bring you the title."
Since his debut in 2006 with Williams, Rosberg has contested 35 Grand Prix, with his best result being fourth - last time out at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Alonso confirms Renault reunion
After weeks of speculation Fernando Alonso has confirmed that he will return to Renault.
The Spaniard won two World Championships with the French marque before switching to McLaren.
Alonso's time at the British outfit was filled with drama due to the personality clash with Lewis Hamilton and the controversial Stepneygate saga.
Despite interest from Red Bull, Alonso released a statement on his website today confirming that he would rejoin his former team.
A statement on Renault's official site confirmed that Alonso would partner Nelson Piquet Jr in 2008.
"Fernando and Nelsinho will form one of the most exciting driver line up of 2008," said team boss Flavio Briatore.
"We are delighted to be welcoming Fernando back home to the team where he enjoyed his greatest success.
"His abilities as a driver and a team leader are well known, and we look forward to forging another strong partnership. What's more, he knows the team well and how we operate; he will feel comfortable straight away in this environment.
"Nelsinho is one of the most promising young talents in motorsport. After his success in GP2, he has spent a year learning the ropes as our test driver and getting to know the team ; he is now ready to step up to the next level."
Alonso said: "I am delighted to be returning to Renault.
"This is the team where I grew up as a driver in Formula One. Now it is time for us to begin a new chapter together.
"I am very excited about working with this great team once more, and confident that together we can move back to the front of the field.
"Renault had a difficult year in 2007, but I know that the team has real strength in depth.
"I am confident they can produce a fast and competitive car and be back at the top in 2008."
There is no official word - yet - on the future of the team's 2007 drivers, Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen. |
