How to prepare a wooden board

Hi there,

I'm a fan of wooden cutting boards, but not those with joints which split and won't clean easily, so I bought a nice piece of oak and cut it into boards and edged and sanded them. I see that I should apply mineral oil to them before getting them wet, which makes sense.
Does anyone know if this is the right thing to do? Where can I get food grade mineral oil?

Please help.
