Mon ami...you (once) lived in France! ...how lucky you are!
I was this close to being offered a post in Nice France last September...I was actually offered the job there but in the end the company ...

Meet again... How is ur eid day?..  I cooked n cooked.

As a simple working class girl I have my lucky days.  Thanks to Allah.  Last year, I was offered to study French language (to obtain a degree).  I grabbed the opportunity even though I already have a degree. I planned to take my master in the same time.  But then something came out.

I was showing ur miniatures to an old friend in US. He said, “It's weird that ur doing that on Arafat Day. I said, “Doing what?”.  “Viewing erotic sites”, he replied.  “ Ooohhh really…. I will postpone my painting analyze” I said.  He he he he

You are a man with broad knowledges and experiences.  Maybe I am an open minded, but in certain things I limit my knowledge.  I know that there is about sex position in Kamasutra but I never try to know how the positions are.

Last month I opened a thread about Kamasutra in Hinduism board.  My attention was to highlight the fact that not 100% in Kamasutra is about sex.  Sephiroth (forumner) was so shocked taht I opened the thread and nag me..ha ha ha ha.. I deleted the thread, not bcz of Sephiroth but bcz I could see other forumners would take advantage to make a controversy.

A friend gave me this link…  I think u will like to read some of the topics..

You are free to paste any pictures you think appropriate.  As a moderator I will edit them referred to the forum rules and my common sense.

I asked a friend about the script (without showed the painting). It is Urdu, Pakistan/ India language.  It is something about Europe’s quest for a representation of knowledge and wisdom little critical but it says despite lot of pump in show, there is hardly any real wisdom.

-        Scenery of sex as the theme.

-        People as subjects.

-        The painting have Chinese influenced - using pointed brush technique.

-        The subjects are viewed from a high-angle view (Persian style) and eye level view.

-        Draw the line with color touch – Persian technique.

-               Uses of bright colors.

-               Some arabes designs included.

-        Refer to the history; Islam and Hindu artists were always joining into a group to create manuscript and miniatures.

I remember, was discussing about miniatures in my class years ago.   I told my lecturer that the prince in the miniature was jumping in happiness becaused his wife was a virgin. It becaused there was little blood on the bed.

Then my lecturer (Indonesian) explained to the class about many types of virginity layer, but he was looking at my face.  I felt very shy that I said, “Dr, I’m not marry yet”.  All in the class was laughing…ha ha ha ha...

Ms Fleurzsa &  all...

Before I move on to another subject , I'm going to give you one more posting on erotica.... and may be an appropriate introduction and my salute and test? to our new mod ms grugals....

As I mentioned before some great western artists did draw /painted some very explicit art which were almost bordering on porn. In fact some of us may even feel that these are in fact obscene... not art at all...

We are all familiar with nude paintings and most of us consider these as "art" now... rubens, modiglianis, Manet, Renoir, Degas...and on and on...These are NOT pictures for us to get sexually aroused about...even locally  we do have some paintings of naked women by familiar figures... very recently I went to Hilton at KL central and saw one large painting by Khalil Ibrahim of his typical signature willowy women on plain backgroud displayed very prominantly ...this time the women were basically  naked...I must go and check because I can't recall very well...

Anyway, here are some pictures that I photographed from my art books on erotic art...let me know your comments...

1) Here's one of my favourites......at a glance just a normal painting of a beautiful  young girl... but look carefully , around her left hand is a cracked water utensil...the gaping hole on the pottery says it all...very erotic!!...this was painted by one of the lesser known french artist Jean Baptiste Greuze...

2) And here's an etching by Rembrandt...

3) Picasso have some very explicit erotic drawings...here's one of the milder one...

4) My favorites are the Japanese prints...what they refered to as the Yukio-e genre...sorry about the coin at the strategic place......

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/greenbottle2/IMG_1710.jpg

5) and finally a very beautiful drawing by Fuseli....

Salam n hello again,

I was at the university this last 7 days…  actually my friend edited ur last post…  I just saw the last two pics this evening even though I was online before; I was scared to open them in public..he he he he

O la la…  I was never looking at paintings like those two before.  U excite me.  Not because of the paintings. ha ha ha ha,  because I always excited to do something new…something like to analyze erotic paintings.

First, second n third pictures are okay but my eyes cannot look at the last two paintings.  So I failed to analyze them..  Sorry okay.  Your experiences and mine are apart and I don’t have to be someone else to make a friend happy.

I saw my Mona Lisa painting in the painting studio.  I plan to take it back and improve her eyes.  I will paste it for you afterward.

I told my junior about some art books that I gave my professor.  She told me that he used them in his lectures.  She remembered that he said, “ This student who gave me some art books is a person who appreciate art”.  I asked her, “Why he said like that?”  She answered, “Because you didn’t throw away the books but gave him” ha ha ha ha ha..

I don’t understand what is so erotic about this painting.  Maybe the cracks jar emphasis the girl virginity.  So what?  In my knowledge, Greuze was not an erotic painter.

-        Oil painting

-        A fascinating portrait of a village girl – as subject matter.

-        Classicsm influenced.

-        Harmony of color and reflections.

-        Sensual expression of content – the girl body.

-        The lighting gives the figure dominance.

-        Print (etching).

-        Sex scene as subject matter.

-        Exhibit the strength and emotional.

-        Line used to define shapes, textures and shadows.

-        Hatching and cross hatching to create degrees of value.

-        Two point perspective.

-        Bird view.

-        Pencil on paper.

-        Using broad stroke lines.

-        Reduced the image to few details – used of economy.

-        Abstracted the two lovers to strengthen the expressive between them.

-        The line seems to have been drawn with great freedom, communicating the action of the subjects.

I will tell u about some of my art activities next time….its quite adventurous n interesting…c ya..

Hi.. I’m in the mood to tell you all about my activity now…

Although I don’t collect artworks…  I love to get as much knowledge about art.  I’m making my brain as a gallery.

Nowadays my passion is to get as many Malaysian art info from any years…  18 century, 19 century, and 20 century….  I buy or xerox any books, magazines, and papers about art.  Maybe my library is not as large as Mr. Green bottle’s….

I find the materials in junkshops, secondhand book shops, private collection etc…from KL, Penang, Melaka, Perak etc… I feel like trash hunter…

I plan to go to Singapore, to see if I have some luck to get a few materials there…  I’m getting some information from Singapore board.

http://forum.cari.com.my/viewthread.php?tid=146537&fpage=3

U all know what….  Somebody can change history if he/she gets enough evidence materials.  My professor did that…

Some art artists in early years..

-        Said Ahmad Al-Kadri
-        Mohd Said Hj Hussain
-        Nora (Nik Norzaharah Abdullah)
-        Idris Hj Abdul Salam
-        Saidin Hj Yahya
-        Abdullah Ariff
-        Mohd Hossein Ennas etc

Some early media…

-        Berita Al-Ikhwan (1920an)
-        Taswir (1890an)
-        Majalah Mastika ( 1950an)
-        Majalah Belia (1950an)
-        Majalah Guru (1950an)
-        Malaya In History (1950an)
-        The MAHA Megazine (1950an)
-        The Straits Times Annual ( 50an)
-        Akhbar Penang Gazette (1950an)
-        Singapore Free Press (1950an)
-        Akbar Bintang Malaya (zaman Jepun)
-        Hikayat Abdullah (1849) etc

Someday, I will paste some pictures from the medias.

British propaganda... posters were dropped in the jungles by British helicopter.

Bintang magazine...  Tan Sri P Ramlee was the publisher.  So, one more of his many talents.

This is the original Hikayat Abdullah... in Holland museum.

Mushi Abdullah description about punishment in local school.

Some punishment tools at school.

Nobody realise before that Mushi Abdullah was also an artist.

Dear all...I'm back...

Firstly...that's a very good thing Ms Fleurzsa is doing...trying to collect info on local early artists....I hope you can paste some examples of early paintings by our earliest artists say in early 1900s or earlier... I know next to nothing about our pioneers...My belief is...we Malays don't really have a real old history of paintings...unlike the western people who have been doing it since several hundred years ago ...starting from religious/church paintings etc...

I was away on a rather interesting journey in Feb...and managed to revisit some old Art Museums and while in Moscow I managed to visit Pushkin Museum... this is one of the biggest museums that housed some of the most famous western paintings in the World...not as big as the Hermitage (which is in St Petersburg ) but bigger than some...

This is the only major Art museum that I ever visited that allowed photography as long as you don't use flash ...

here are some pictures

***

I thought I'm mad about art...but look at this row of even madder people waiting patiently to enter the Pushkin in freezing cold (-10 deg C at this time)

***

Here is a room full of dutch paintings...this guy (not me)  is looking at Rembrandts

Here is another Dutch room...the still life paintings ...my favorite..This wall shows paintings by Snyder.. one of the more famous painters of  animal still lifes......

Dear Seribulan and all;

Snow is over rated...Looks beautiful but if the temp is minus 15 like when I was there..it isn't fun...lucky for me the good Russian collegues lent me heavy warm clothing..if not...I'll be dead...

Anyway...here are some more wellknown pictures in the Pushkin...

1) Several famous and very familiar monets...

2) And here're some picassos...

Before going to Moscow...I was in Oxford and was really looking forward to visit the Ashmolean Museum..unfortunately the only day I was free (Tuesday) the museum was closed..so I missed this great museum...but I did visit Tate Britain in London...you can only watch pictures so much..after tate britain I was so picture fatigue that I just couldn't go and see more pictures although I meant to visit Tate modern, and an exhibition on TURKS" at the Royal academy...but as I said... after the British museum (elgin marble and thee rest...) and Tate Britain..I was so dog tired and can't take it anymore...even art madness has limits....

Tate Britain has the biggest collection of Turners..so anybody who love Turner (eg; Ms Fleurzsa??) must visit this if you have the opportunity...at this time they have special exhibition on Turner Whistler and Monet...although you have to pay 10 pounds (RM75) to get in...just look at the crowd lining up to get into the show ...

Tate Museum used to be one but now split into Tate Britain and Tate Modern on the embankment...the building is massive .. the big tower looks impressive and intimidating but overall it looks very ugly to me...at this time they're having a big show on Joseph Beuys..

Our earliest local painters were Puan Lim Cheng Kung and Abdullah Ariff.  U can see many infomation and art works of Abdullah Ariff in the exhibition about him at National Art Gallery..

Dear mr GB,

I want to tell u about some polemics that happened.  Actually I don’t have much time to type in detail so I give the points first.  I will explain more next time.

1.        Between Syed Sheikh Al Hadi with the community who’s apposed to figure art. – Al Ikhwan magazine (1929)

2.        Between Idris Salam and Abd Ghani Hamid.  About Mata dan Hati painting by Abd Ghani.. – Mastika magazine (Mei 1957)

3.        Between Mohd Sallehudin and people who apposed to abstract art. – Mastika magazine (1958)

Ms Fleurzsa....excellent stuff.... I like Georgette Chan's Ikan Kering best...any more still life paintings by this artist?...If I can remember correctly National art Gallery had an exhibition of her work many years back when The NAG was still in the old Hotel Majestic in front of the old KTM...

And if I can award "thumb ups"...I'll give 5 thumb ups for your list of polemics....(by the way who and how are these thumb ups posted?)

If you have more info especially on Salleh Ben Joned's article please post it here...this man's writing in NST many years back were my favorite column ...these days we don't have good columnists in any of our newspapers anymore... the last good one was Amir Muhammad's "Perforated Sheet" on Wednesday Literary section...It was stopped several years back...of course Amir muhammad is now a respected independent film makers..shorts especially...I've seen The Big Durian, Lip to lips and 6 shorts and oh my... aren't they CRAP!! but it may be just me...may be I'm just too conventional to appreciate these 'avant garde" films??...but All the best to Mr Amir....he has big potential ...though still a long long way from being Coen Brothers....
