21 Strategi Pengukuhan UiTM Abad Ke-21

By: (Friday, 28 June 2002)

Teks Ucapan Yg Bhg Prof Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah

Naib Canselor UiTM pada Majlis Konvokesyen UiTM ke 55

8 Jun 2002

Sidang Ketiga

wow, Fairy_hobbit nk jadi company's secretary ker? klu dh ade pngalaman 3 thn, boleh buat firm sniri. mmg sng buat duit jd secretary nih, klu bykclient ler.

dlu ms prakt kt audit firm, yg juga merangkap sbg accounting firm,, tax advisor, biz advisor & also company secretary. mmg tiap2 thn, company (client) mst ade byr fee, biar pon xde event penting. klu xde event pntg, ape CS (company secretary) buat? just mcm submit annual return kt CCM (SSM) & tax return je kot klu xsilap.
ala, even pelik2 pon ape je, AGM, EGM, pasal shares, address... gitu2 jer.

p/s: ni for most sdn. bhd. pny ler. klu listed company, rsnya diorg ade indoor secretary kan.

saya tumpang kat topic accountant ni yer.. ff:
yowa, saya sekarang kat public listed- banking n finance industry. baru submit notice nak resign coz nak practice law.  sini pakai internal CS n ada department sendiri.  teruk jg tau kadar kesibukkannya.. mula2 dulu i thot just submit annual return, filing, semua tu. rupa2nya its much more than that. kena la at ur fingertips about bursa listing req, SC rules, BNM, cmpany law n other laws tu... and many2 legal issues. legal opinion pun selalu kena buat. board committees pun melambak2. subsidiaries meeting n regulations pun kena jaga. kalau attend meeting tu tak bole buat minutes jer, kena compile papers from various departments, sift thru n read la, n then after mtg kena follow up, update management n directors about the implications n so forth. bila AGM/EGM plak beribu2 shareholders yg datang hotel (walaupun tak semua attend meeting bcz diorang nak doorgift jer). buat annual report, circular to shareholders, announcement to Bursa etc. Kena uptodate dgn market news. Tp best, byk la yg dipelajari. btw, i tgk my fren yg bukak CS firm sendiri tu byk jg income coz dia byk client..

Mestilah bole, why not... amik degree terusla, jgn amik diploma since u pun ada professional qualification. Buat la LLB tu. kalau kat private college im not sure whether terus dipanggil LLB ke tak.  BUt in my opinion, kalau dah ada degree in other field n nak amik law bcz nak paper qualification, better amik kat private college (english legal system stream).  reason being, nampaknya lagi senang nak pass the degree stage. tak payah nak pening sgt.  lagipun senang nak dapat materials. yg susah is the CLP stage la. kena cramp mcm2 mlaysian law. itupun if nak buat CLP.

Kalau kat IPTA, kena amik extra 1 year (professional year/course) baru bole panggil LLB hons  (3+1 year). . without the professional year, tak bole jadi lawyer. If amik 3 years jer, akan dapat Bachelor of legal studies/bachelor of jurisprudence/general LLB.. . ni ikut pengetahuan aku abt uitm n um, uia tak sure mcmana tp length belajar still 4 yrs la altogether.  kalau kat uitm, masa final year tak boleh buat parttime coz the classes start from 8am which can stretch till 8pm or 11pm (tu zaman aku dulu la) everyday, no break in between except for lunch, short tea break. ramai jg matured students, ada engineer, doctor, enforcement officers,  bankers, accountant, etc. most of them buat part time masa degree biasa yg 3 years tu.  So 4th year they have to cuti the whole year.

Kat IPTA ni belajar malaysian law in depth which actually is very relevant if nak keje dgn applying n utilising that  legal knowledge in malaysia. contract law for example, byk beza dgn english contract law. so does criminal law. procedural lagi la.. so jgn tersalah pakai law nanti. of course, masa belajar tu we also touch on english laws coz ada byk juga malaysian law yg adapt english laws, n yg tak sama we compare. also laws/cases from india, australia, canada, asian countries, other countries...in learning process tu mesti terjumpa.

just to add some room under this topic.

in my opinion, study accounting is very good. why becos the subject coverage.
accounting what we learned in general is very broad pasal sumer corporates affairs
that is why u see so many accountant in corporates, tak kisah how big or small

bila time kerja plaks, i tgk kebanyakan rakan seangkatan berpusu2 nak joint audit firm dgn view tak nak diverge from the streamline.

while on the other hand, i noticed banyak peluang kerja yang dikatakan bagus utk di terokai selain dari streamline ie tax, corporate finance, business development or marketing , risk management , wealth management and so forth

saya pernah borak ngan sorang mat salleh asal dari Canada, dia by profession is a chemistry tapi lepas kuar dia kerja ngan construction firm sampai la ni !!. and dia happy ngan kerja tuh

apa mesej saya sampaikan ialah saya ingin menyeru pembaca ialah tak kisah whether warga accounting or law or apa2 pon, try not to be rigid in selecting your future job ... go where hour heart want u to be , dont be afraid to explore into a different new world , and u see that u can excel

thats all
hope this is only a matter of sharing

deep down inside... i agree

tp mslh gak nk tukar aliran tu. kita just ada minat, tp xde skill, cane. so, terpaksa la keje audit firm... yg katanya "balik keje kul 5.30 ptg adalah keje separuh hari". hehehe.

as those options, sbb kita blaja byk area in corporate biz... tp xbest gak klu tpaksa start from scratch. mmbr ada ajak join dia, keje kat FOREX, keje technical analysis exec. "aku yakin ko ada bakat!" katanya. tp ... nth ler.hehehe. dlm byk2 subject, aku paling lemah bab kira2 ni. akaun xpenah dpt A. inikan pulak corporate finance & investment analysis. huhuuuu. i'd prefer management line.

aku punya pengalaman bila dah jadi akauntan ni kerja sama tiap2 hari, cuma year end lain sket biasalah time nk closing... bg sape yg sukakan cabaran kerja akauntan ni kurang sesuai... aku secara peribadi rasa nk tukar dept sales or b.d.d, kalo tngok dlm fortune 500, kbnyakkan ceo adalah dari sales... lagi pun dr apa yg aku tngok org sales ni bila dh lama boleh demand gaji dan bnda lain.. mgkin dorang ni yg bwk masuk duit.. bergantung pd diri masing2
