No wonder lah Bush gave Israel thumbs up for another week to cause as much damage and death in the ME, he sells them the bombs to be dropped on helpless women, children and old people.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Bush administration is rushing a delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel, which requested the expedited shipment last week after beginning its air campaign against Hizbollah targets in Lebanon, The New York Times reported on Saturday.

Citing U.S. officials who spoke on Friday on condition of anonymity, the Times said the decision to ship the weapons quickly came after relatively little debate within the administration, and noted in its report that its disclosure threatens to anger Arab governments and others who could perceive Washington as aiding Israel in the manner that Iran has armed Hizbollah.

The munitions are actually part of a multimillion-dollar arms-sale package approved last year which Israel is able to tap when it needs to, the officials told the Times. But some military officers said the request for expedited delivery was unusual and indicated that Israel has many targets it plans to hit in Lebanon.

The arms shipment has not been announced publicly. The officials who described the administration's decision to rush the munitions included employees of two government agencies, one of whom described the shipment as just one example of a broad array of armaments that the United States has long provided Israel, the Times said.

Pentagon and military officials declined to describe in detail the size and contents of the shipment to Israel, the newspaper said, and they would not say whether the munitions were being shipped by cargo aircraft or some other means.

But one U.S. official said the shipment should not be compared to the kind of an "emergency resupply" of dwindling Israeli stockpiles that was provided during the 1973 Arab-Israeli war, according to the Times report.

A spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in Washington told the Times: "We have been using precision-guided munitions in order to neutralize the military capabilities of Hizbollah and to minimize harm to civilians. As a rule, however, we do not comment on Israel's defense acquisitions."

http://to ...

On American TV, former Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu says the ruination of Lebanon is Hezbollah's doing. But is it Hezbollah that is using U.S.-built F-16s, with precision-guided bombs, and 155-mm artillery pieces to wreak death and devastation on Lebanon?

No, Israel is doing this, with the blessing and without a peep of protest from President Bush. And THEY wonder why Muslim hate them.

Paying for the bombs dropped on your head

Anderson Cooper 360 CNN Blog

It's an eery and ironic sight -- watching one ship after the other steaming in from the darkness and arriving in the port in Larnaca, Cyprus. Warships of great power unable to halt a conflict with their armies are instead helping the helpless to flee. Ferries and cruise ships usually signaling hordes of merry vacationers are packed to the gills with tired, sweaty, weary evacuees.

They pour out of the vessels by the hundreds, boarding buses taking them to the next ordeal -- getting through customs and processing by their own countries. Lining up behind their countries' flags, anxiously waiting to hear whether they'll catch a plane now or wait. The lucky stranded get a hotel; others a cot in a hall.

All seem grateful to be on safe ground, but fearful for their relatives still in Lebanon. "And strange that my tax dollars are being used to pay for the bombs being dropped on me," says one American.Posted By Chris Burns, CNN Correspondent: 11:23 AM ET

Lebanese groups sue government for failing to protect its citizens
Gregg Krupa / The Detroit News

Local Lebanese-Americans and civil rights activists Monday were to sue the federal government, including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, saying the officials failed to fulfill their constitutional obligation to protect U.S. citizens in Lebanon.

The Lebanese and activists also seek a court order to force the Bush Administration to seek a ceasefire and to stop shipping of arms to Israel. The New York Times reported Saturday that the U.S. is acting on an Israeli request to expedite the shipment of special missiles designed to destroy the underground tunnels and bunkers where the Israelis say the Hezbollah militia stores the rockets with which it has struck populate areas in northern Israel for more than a week.

In the lawsuit, the ADC alleges that officials of the Bush Administration placed U.S. citizens in peril by not taking all possible steps to secure the safety and well-being of U.S. citizens in Lebanon.

Double standard, I would say hypocrisy in short.

The US can supply weapons to Israel but alleged Syria and Iran doing the same to Hezbollah/Palestinian, which is a big NO NO.

North Korea, Iran, Pakistan cannot develop nuclear technology, but US can supply the same to India.

The UN won't practise what they preach for fear of having US cut their "spending money" cut.  Geez...
