Synopsis

TOKIO's Masahiro Matsuoka will star in a new NTV drama series called "Yasuko to Kenji." It is based on a comical manga by artist Aruko that was serialized in Bessatsu Margaret between April 2005 and November 2006.

The show focuses on a man named Kenji and his younger sister Yasuko, whose parents died in an accident 10 years earlier. Kenji was once the leader of a gang, but in order to support him and his sister, he began making a living as a shojo mangaka. His character normally wears glasses and appears to be a gentle guy, but he throws off his glasses and reverts to his violent side whenever he tries to protect Yasuko from danger. Part of the story follows Yasuko's romance with an intelligent and good-looking man named Jun Tsubaki. Other Synopis

Matsuoka plays the former-motorcycle-gang(NakedGun)-boss-turned-shojo-manga-artist Kenji. Kenji lost his parents when he was 19, and he left the motorcycle gang to become a manga artist to take care of his little sister Yasuko, who is 12 years younger than him. He's straight-forward, has a strong sense of justice, is assertive. He normally wears glasses, but he takes them off and will risk his life to protect Yasuko. Yasuko is in love with a hot guy, Tsubaki Jun. Jun's older sister Erika runs a flower shop and looks proper, but used to be a Ladies (female motorcycle gang) leader and was in love with Kenji from 13 years ago. Nikkan Sports calls it a"violence home comedy".

Matsuoka says the filming is going great and the cast and staff are having a lot of fun and he hopes that will be felt by the viewers. The produceer says that he couldn't think of anyone other than Matsuoka to play Kenji. (tokio LJ)

TOKIO's Masahiro Matsuoka will star in a new NTV drama series called "Yasuko to Kenji." It is based on a comical manga by artist Aruko that was serialized in Bessatsu Margaret between April 2005 and November 2006.

The show focuses on a man named Kenji (Matsuoka) and his younger sister Yasuko, whose parents died in an accident 10 years earlier. Part of the story follows Yasuko's romance with an intelligent and good-looking man named Jun Tsubaki. Jun's older sister Erika now runs a flower shop, but Erika was once a leader of a female gang, and she used to be in love with Kenji during those days.

The cast for the roles of Yasuko, Jun, and Erika have not yet been announced. The show will premiere in July, airing every Saturday at 9:00pm.

Cast announced for "Yasuko to Kenji"

The cast has now been revealed for NTV's drama series "Yasuko to Kenji," which was first announced last month with TOKIO's Masahiro Matsuoka as the lead. The show is based on a comedy manga about a former gang leader named Kenji, who becomes a shojo manga artist to support him and his sister after their parents pass away.

Mikako Tabe is playing the role of Kenji's sister Yasuko. Kanjani8's Tadayoshi Okura has been cast as Yasuko's love interest Jun, while Ryoko Hirosue has been given the heroine role as Jun's older sister Erika, the former head of a ladies' gang that took over her family's flower shop. Erika had fallen in love with Kenji many years ago, while they were both still gang members. Sayaka Yamaguchi has also been announced as a cast member, playing a former underling of Erika.

"Yasuko to Kenji" premieres on July 12.
