PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia will tighten visa procedures for foreigners toprevent negative influences and unsavoury characters from entering thecountry.It is learnt that visitors from all countries that currentlyneed visas to enter Malaysia will be subjected to “individualassessments”.

A declaration of intent will no longer suffice.

Thisis in accordance with the first-tier visa issuance system in mostdeveloped countries, includting the United States. This will allow forthe identification of “questionable” characters at the point ofapplication.

A Home Ministry source said the new conditionswould enable authorities to identify potential “hazards” intending tocross the nation’s borders.

The government wants to plugloopholes in the current entry system as it is felt that many had takenadvantage of the country’s relaxed visa requirements to indulge inundesirable activities, such as vice.
It is learnt that countries that are of concern include severalAfrican nations, a few countries in the Middle East and Latin America.

Visitorswho want to come to Malaysia will need to present their economic anddetailed personal background, a security bond, as well as letters ofundertaking
and proof of family ties and financial support fromtheir sponsors here when applying for visas at Malaysian consuls intheir country.

This will not only enable the government toreject visa applications of suspicious characters, but also to trackthem down if they cause trouble later.

The source said thiswould spell the end of the two-tier visa processing system or the"visa-without-reference" system adopted several years ago to promotetourism and higher education in Malaysia.

"What we have is asystem with limited information about the people who we allow to enterthe country. Only when they arrive do we try to manage and get them toobserve their visa restrictions.

"As you know, entering the USis not easy as assessments are conducted on applicants. We want to stopvisa applications based on nothing but declarations made byapplicants," said the source.

According to a senior ForeignAffairs Ministry official, the government must be able to weed outpeople who enter the country claiming to be students, tourists andbusinessmen, but are actually here for undesirable purposes.

"Ifthey come as tourists, they should make bookings at hotels and havereturn tickets. They should also have an appropriate amount of money tospend or perhaps have a sponsor who can vouch for them.


"If they are coming as students, our consul there would ask them toprove that a college in Malaysia is going to admit them," he said.

Seniorgovernment officials said tighter entry requirements will not have anadverse impact on the various economic sectors in Malaysia.

They said the tightening of entry procedures was part of fourareas the government would tackle in monitoring and managingforeigners.

Currently, only visitors from Afghanistan, NorthKorea, Cuba, India, China and Vietnam are required to submit supportingdocuments when applying for a Malaysian visa.

A governmentcommittee to monitor and manage foreigners recently met and decided tobeef up the monitoring mechanism and information system on foreigners,enforcement efforts and review relevant laws.

Sources saidallowing better quality visitors to come into the country would preventthe infiltration of negative influences, curb the proliferation of drugsyndicates and use of Malaysians as drug mules.

"If notaddressed, the country's image will deteriorate and this will turn awaytourists and investors in the long term," they said.

About damn time la dei.. patut dibuat lama dah. Orang2 yang masuk konon2 jadi student pastu hilang tah kemana..selalu je kita dengar mamat arab dan afrika, pompuan China buat keja2 nih.. now dah jadi strict macam nak masuk UK US. bagus.


Hope takdak la nak guna alasan takut pelancong taknak datang sini..apapun keselamatan negara lagi utama dari nak tarik pelancong hokay.

selagi ada jenis bangsa yg suka meghulur dan menerima,, isu ni just nak sedapkan hati rakyat je, ramai lh nanti pegawai imigresen kaya mkn duit undertable,, polisi kerajan biasanya cantik on paper je, perlaksanaan xde, sbg contoh, brp org perdamna menteri dah janjii nak elokkan sektor pengangkutan awam kat k.l, tapi pung pang kehulur kehilir camtu jgk.. brp ramai kroni dah kaya psl ni projek, tapi rakyat yg jadi susah sesusahnya

...dan kuasa untuk membuat 'individual assesment' terjatuh kepada pegawai-pegawai imigresen, bukan mengikut blanket policy.
...maka semakin gemok lah pegawai-pegawai imigresen tu...

bg aku indon yg banyak masalah..cine2 pelacur tu dtg sbb ade demand dr lelaki2 hidung belang yg pelanggannye turut termasuk lelaki melayu isle...kalau indon2 tu,dtg x dijemput,hambat xnak balik,malam2 merompak rumah org,rogol bunuh,bwk lari anak dare org...indon lg jahat kalau bab jenayah nie...

....kerajaan malaysia paling lemah n lembap dlm hal imigresen dan penguatkuasaan agensi membenteras warga asing tanpa permit....dr dlu lg,smua hangat2 taik ayam. ye ler...nanti bercelaru pulak dgn kehendak ekonomi negara plak. hang pi ambush site projek besar2,kang pending plak projek x de buruh kasar nk siapkan kerja. di lembah klang,ada brapa site projek besar2(condo2 kat mont kiara sbg cntoh)....hang ingat smua indon,bangla tu smua ada permit ke?? even site projek PGA batalion 3 bidor,perak tu kalu imigresen buat raid,ramai ler pekerja asing takdak permit. projek2 kondominium bila dh siap,amik plak guard2 nepal takde permit. hehehhe

Kerajaan kita kena tengok statistik jenayah dan immigresen. Ada tak kaitan? Contohnya, orang bangladesh paling banyak guna Visa on Arrival (VOA) akan tetapi paling banyak kerja secara haram. Jadi patutlah di ketatkan visa kemasukkan. Seperti dengan pelacur dari Cina, tengok university mana yang paling ramai menerima kemasukkan ini. Kalau perlu Kem. Pengajian Tinggi perlu haramkan universsity/ kolej ini. Baru adil. Kalau sudah ramai, penjenayah daripada Indonesia, sila panggil Duta Indonesia buat penjelasan kepada kerajaan Malaysia kenapa berlaku yang sedemikian. Jangan lagi asyik bercakap serumpun dan sebangsa. Masaalah social kita sekarang mencapai tahap yang kritikal dan perlukan ditangani dengan segera.

ingat dulu nak gi arab, punye aa byk process,cipan..

agaknya kedutaan kita kat luar tu baik sgt.... kementerian luar kena aa buat test kat sini,,,sapa yg keras kepala jek leh gi pejabat duta.........cuba taruk target satu hari leh 10 jek visa lulus kat satu kedutaan(utk afrika)... so bila payah dpt visa atleast pak negro ni gi target negara lain lakk.....

setuju kita nak msk negara orang punya lah payah kene lagi interview beberap jam kat airport dorangm, dorang dtg sini senag je masuk siap boleh dpt ic dan perlindungan lagi,, 1 malaysia ma, skrg kat malaysia mcm2 bngsa ada, melayu, cina, india, afrika, acheh, jawa, bugis, paki, mnyanmar, siam, philipina,, many to mention here,,,, u boleh tambah or can buat list lagi
