Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - A total of 1,047 students are suspected of being victims of the Crime of Human Trafficking (TPPO) through an internship program in Germany.
This case started with a report from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Germany which received complaints from four students after taking part in the Ferienjob program in Germany. They admitted to being exploited and employed illegally.
The Indonesian Embassy in Germany then carried out an in-depth investigation until it was discovered that there were around 33 universities running Ferienjob programs to Germany. So far it is known that the students were sent by three employment agencies in Germany.
Before leaving for Germany, students are asked to pay 150 euros to get an acceptance letter from the campus and also pay 200 euros to the agent to get a working permit. Not only that, students are charged another Rp. 30-50 million in bailout funds.
Regarding this issue, the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah emphasized that the internship program does not fall within the purview of his ministry, but rather falls within the purview of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemendikbudristekdikti).
Is Ferienjob suspected of being a TIP method?
Quoting the official website of the Indonesian Embassy in Germany, ferienjob is a part-time job that students usually do during college breaks. So, from this description, it can be concluded that a ferienjob is not an internship, as narrated by employment agents.
Because it is part-time work, students who do ferien jobs usually do physically demanding work, including washing dishes in restaurants, being a porter at the airport, or packing goods at a logistics company.
"Ferienjobs are not carried out within the framework of bilateral cooperation between governments. Ferienjobs are not related to academic activities and/or student academic competencies," said the official statement quoted from the website of the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin, Wednesday (27/3/2024).
Even looking at the regulations, this work program only has a working period of 90 days within a 12 month period and cannot be extended. It is also set during an official holiday in the student's home country.
mostly techical sbb kat jerman yuran study kan free tapi student mcm kene undergo training dekat sana.

ferien tu sendiri bermaksud holiday…. internship pulak praktikum. regulation pun dah terang2 kata during official holiday. student2 ni baca ke tak sebelum apply tu?
kalu fikir secara logic...kalu company nak amik kita as their intern atau kerja, diorg akan byr segala permit, flight, accommodation semua...kita tak perlu kuar duit langsung. Semua company settled kan.

kemendikbudristek kejadahnye di pendekkan jadi gitu
indon you need to stop this kind of bullshit :lo ...
There is No Free Lunch .....
Hehehehe
