KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) is planning to introduce a new mobile application under its five-year ROAR30 strategy to strengthen its regional digital footprint.



President and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Khairussaleh Ramli said the new application could potentially replace MAE, Maybank's existing mobile app.

"We want to introduce a new app to lift our capabilities and potentially replace MAE. MAE is good, but we think there are certain capabilities that we need to put in place," he said at a media briefing on ROAR30.

Khairussaleh said the bank had identified areas for enhancement following engagements with individual customers.

The new application is intended to serve as a single platform across multiple countries in the region, with Indonesia expected to be the first market for the rollout.

"Indonesia can be the first where we allow it, to capture the business and offer solutions that we believe can compete in Malaysia," he added.

He said details of the new application would be announced soon, but did not provide a timeline.

ROAR30 is Maybank's new five-year strategy through 2030, anchored on three pillars aimed at reinforcing its purpose of humanising financial services through values-based offerings, building businesses at scale and strengthening its foundation to future-proof the bank.
