Norway lifts final Covid curbs on social distancing

OSLO: Norway on Saturday lifted its final Covid restrictions, scrapping social distancing and masks in crowded spaces despite a surge in Omicron infections.

"The metre is disappearing. We are taking away the recommendation on social distancing," Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store told reporters at a press conference.

"Now we can now socialise like we did before, in nightlife, at cultural events and other social occasions. And on the way to and from work on buses, trains and ferries," he said.

Norway lifted most of its other Covid curbs earlier this month, including remote working, crowd size limits and restricted alcohol sales in bars and restaurants.

The requirement to isolate for four days after a positive Covid test was meanwhile on Saturday downgraded to a recommendation, and children with respiratory symptoms are no longer required to get tested for Covid.

Gahr Store stressed however that "the pandemic is not over", and advised unvaccinated people and those in risk groups to continue practising social distancing and wear masks where social distancing is not possible.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) said the country had yet to see the peak of the Omicron surge, but it was expected soon.

The agency's director Camilla Stoltenberg told reporters the number of Covid hospitalisations had risen by 40 percent in the past week.

As of Friday, 986,851 cases and 1,440 virus-related deaths had been recorded in Norway, where more than 91 percent of the population has received at least two doses of the vaccine.

FHI estimates that three to four million people from a population of 5.4 million may be infected by this summer. -- AFP

negara negara scandinavian ni memang depa ambil pendekatan yg agak longgar sejak dulu lagi pun,
i mean tak hairan juga kalau depa nak cecepat nak tarik balik itu ini.

Kita tak perlu terikut ikut dengan rentak negara lain, kita urus negara kita sendiri...

Sbb deols dah kaji dah sis.
Ada domino effect pd society bila asyik tutup. Kes domestic abuse, alcoholism, suicide, unemployment, ekonomi harga barang naik, inflation x cukup stok..

Sbb tu kita jd sampai mcm ni. Sampai telor, dedak
..sayur pun x cukup sorok takut putus stok. Yg nk icitra kwsp tu sbb ni lah, rakyat nak survive demi kelangsungan idop. Sektor2 ekonomi x kembang. Yg berkembang kerusi2 ahli politaik!

Adakah sekatan2/mandat2 Covid selama >2 tahun berbaloi untuk majoriti Rakyat.?


Selepas >2 tahun sengsara, Malaysia nak "Live With Covid" macam Norway atau "Zero Covid Policy" macam komunis Cina.?

Perlu ingat, selama >2 tahun, "hanya" 32k orang di Malaysia telah mati Covid dan kebanyakkannya adalah orang2 tua berpenyakit/"comorbid", bukan orang2 muda dan/atau sihat yang produktif, spt pekerja2 dan pelajar2.
....... Perlu ingat juga, orang2 tua berpenyakit/"comorbid" spt penyakit kencing manis, obis dan darah tinggi adalah dari akibat orang2 tak menjaga kesihatan mereka = orang2 tak bertanggungjawab. Salah siapa mereka ini mati Covid.?

ala, tak suprise pun kalau Norway U TURN semula ada SOP nanti. tgk jew la Sweden, duk  gigih tunggu herd community, last last ambik vaksin dan ada SOP gak. same goes Australia dan New Zealand. cepat sangat declare bebas covid 19 dan tarik SOP, last last U TURN juga ambik vaksin dan ada balik SOP kan. Malaysia boleh klau nak tarik SOP jika negara jiran dah kurang drastik covid juga. ni singapore, thai, philipines bukn main tinggi lagi kes covid even tahap 1 dan 2 termasuk malaysia pada waktu yg sama. achaner tu. lu pikir la sendiri.

SOP untuk kawalan jangka pendek bukan kawalan seumur idop. Kita dah terbalik.
