mere circumstances
i met a man in his forties.he was wearing his hawaian gaudy shirt, bermuda and selipar jepun.i was in my office attire .it was typical lunch time at kedai kopi Pak mat and all the tables were taken by hungry office workers.his table was empty so i sat next to him hoping that by concentrating on eating my nasi would make me invisible to him thus there would be no contact between us.but i should know better...like his gaudy attire..he talked loudly...its the law of the universe...we are victims of circumstances. |

The sun was setting to the West as it always did, but this time life was not as it should be.
"I don’t care what normal people do, I am NOT shaving my head!” He was trying to be reasonable but the old man was being ridiculous! |

Laughter
I wanted to make her laugh. I wanted to think of
something witty and go up to her and tell her like
Cary Grant would. But I didn't. I just sat and drank
her in like the free spirit that she was and when she
passed by she didn't know the funny thing I had
thought up for her so she didn't laugh. |

It is world where capitalism and commercialism has turned one portion of the public into a horde of unthinking, uncaring, cash-hungry automatons and another portion into the oppressed, abused, and bitter working poor.
It is a world one small army hopes to change...
"One Nation" describes the social and political landscape of the land in which our anti-hero lives, setting the stage for her rebellion. |

The sky had a reddish orange color, mixing slowly with haze like purple clouds.
The sky was beautiful, it was a sky born from a mushroom cloud, a nuclear bomb in the far Midwestern United States.
But she didn't know this, all she knew was that without gas, her truck wouldn't run, and she had a long walk ahead of her. |

Living in peace and tranquility, she knew little of politics and land.
She knew the forest and the animals. She had never killed a human, and had never been hunted.
That was all changing faster than the winds now. |

Zsa said the greatest graphic designer is the guy who came up with the idea to divide highways in half with dashed and solid lines.
Who?
"How the hell should I know." That's what Zsa said. |

You expect us to fly with you?
"I don't expect anything from anyone anymore," Amir said. |

Today was the day. He knew it. He closed his eyes and could see her, every tiny intricacy, and he held his breath to prolong the moment.
As he opened his eyes, the bright light pierced his eyes. He blinked, and pulled the door shut behind him. He still didn't know what he would say when he saw her, but he could still predict her reaction.
He shook his head to expel the thought from his mind. He had to do it; there was no turning back. |

Nothing in the world is always the scariest thing. The only way to fight your fears is to give them names. You give them weaknesses and you give them strong points.
But by giving them names then you also give yourself something to be afraid of. What happens though if your fears get out of control? What if they no longer need you to give you strength? |

Accustomed to the veneer of noise, to the shibboleths of promotion, public relations, and market research, society is suspicious of those who value silence. |

The warrior fell to his knees, his sword dripping the blood of his foe, still warm in the sunlight.
He was face to face with his enemy then, both with the exact same wound in the exact same place. |

"Any last words?"
This I saw as bit of a contradiction; he had a gun down my mouth so I couldn't speak but he was asking for any last words. However, I thought not to bring this up. You might be wondering how I got into such a position - well that's a funny story. |

Why did he not want her? She had thought it would be easy when she knew all the answers, but instead it brought with it more questions.
The morning brought with it, not relief, but dread. She could not face the day knowing she no longer had nothing to hope for.
The dream had been blinked away by his sympathetic blue eyes as he had looked at her, pulling her heart away from all reality.
She couldn't rebuild the dream when the hand of the creator had broken it. |

Irfan looked out the window at the rest of the group, and then dumped the poison into the thin glass.
They'd never call him Itchy Irfan again! In fact- Wait! What if someone noticed the taste?
Irfan poured a glass, drank, and smiled. Nope. Couldn't detect a thing. |

In the depths of the shadows, in the middle of night, a creature stirs. A creature that looks human, acts human, and simple seems human.
There are, however, a few things that make him different from your ordinary human.
His appearance may seem the same but if you look close enough, you can see that it's not. |

You know, fate can be very twisted sometimes. You show up for work one day and find you appeared in the wrong century.
Then your idiot boss, who summoned you in the first place, does his damned best to ignore you.
I tell you the job of a writer is never easy. |

"Jeez!" She exclaimed hitting the steering wheel. She checked her watch again. 5:30. She's half an hour late, her boss is going to kill her.
The light turned green. She gives the car in front of her one last blow of her horn and makes a sharp turn left to the next lane.
Out of nowhere, she hears the screech of rubber tires and felt a dull thud. She checks her rear mirror and sees a man in the back car get out, to check his bumper. |
